Burdick's Security

Dealing with Burdicks was a great experience. I called them on Tuesday to schedule the replacement of lock cylinders and installation of a strike plate for our new home. First of all, an actual person answered the phone on the second ring! what a treat. They asked what I needed done and when I would like the services performed. We scheduled the appointment for Friday.
Our technician, Glen, showed up exactly on time. He had all of the needed supplies and tools with him. He replaced three lock cylinders and provided us with 5 sets of keys, and also installed a strike plate for the deadbolt, including adjustment of the opening. Glen was really friendly, lives in the neighborhood, and worked quickly and cleanly. The whole job took about 25 minutes. I don't have a lot of experience with locksmiths as this our first home, but I called around for pricing to a few places and Burdick's was right in line or a little lower than other companies.
In addition to the work he did, Glen also did a bit of a security assessment on our home and made some very good recommendations for things we should do sooner rather than later. Very helpful.
Overall, I can say that I couldn't recommend Burdick's more highly, they were great!

Yesterday we realized we could no longer trust someone who had a copy of our house key. We decided, just to be safe, to have our house re-keyed. Burdick's had replaced our locks a couple years ago when we bought our house and did a fine job so we called them again. They were able to make an appointment for us this morning at 9:30. The technician arrived on schedule. He was friendly and efficient. He was in and out faster than I had expected.

The key Burdick's cut using my key blank wouldn't work. I took it to another locksmith who said it couldn't be fixed. They said whoever cut the key in the first place really botched it, and should have known it wouldn't work. I took the key back to Burdick's and they wouldn't do anything to address the fact that they improperly cut the key and ruined my expensive key blank. They said there was no guaranty on keys not duplicated using their key blanks. I don't understand why they even attempt to duplicate keys using a customer's expensive blank if they don't think they can do it correctly.
So if you need keys duplicated which require a measure of precision, I definitely wouldn't recommend Burdick's.
On a side note, I was ready to purchase a home safe from Burdick's for about $1,000 but decided to go elsewhere after this incident. I'm not comfortable doing business with a company who won't stand behind their work.

I contacted Burdick Security after we got broken into. We needed a security system to make sure it didn't happen again. They put in a great system that covers the entire house. They responded quickly with an estimate and to install it. The sales rep and the installer were very efficient and professional. Since the install, they've been great in helping us figure out how the system works.

I contacted Burdick because they are the company that had the information on the Medeco locks in my house. (Medeco locks can only be re-keyed by the designated local company.) They were able to re-key my locks the day I called because they had an opening due to a cancellation. They originally stated the opening was between 2 and 3 and said I should be at the house around 2:30 p.m. At 3:15, I gave them a call to see if the locksmith was coming and it turned out he was just a few minutes away. Once he arrived, he performed the work quickly and professionally and I have had no problems with the locks.

They were very good.

The technician rekeyed the supposedly brand new lock (which had been separately procured) promptly as requested but failed to notice damaged parts on the lock set and balky knob and lock action. When the damage was pointed out to them they readily agreed the lock set had been damaged and did not work like new. They were totally unhelpful with respect to troubleshooting the problem or suggesting remedy.
