They were prompt very respectful. Went out of his way to fix an instal new pipes. Garbage disposal wasn't going to work because the sink was too low he told us how to raise the sink came back and installed. Really satisfied.

phoned this morning and got a friendly and helpful receptionist. explained my need, toilet doesn't have complete flush and often requires a 2nd flush.
tech was Mark, he was prompt and very patient w/ my questions. he tested a few things out, gave me his thoughts and we moved forward w/ replacing the "guts". he had the parts in his vehicle already so no wait.
Mark swapped out our very old parts and replaced them in minutes.
we did a few tests flushes and it works like a charm.

Technician came by a few hours after the appointment was initially set but then rescheduled the morning of the appt because one of their people called in sick. Guy came by and looked at the downspouts that were clogged. Said there was debris in one of them and could try cleaning it out a couple of different ways. For the other downspout, he told me it was inside a shed under the floor and couldn't do anything without tearing up the floor. He gave me estimates for attempts to fix downspouts two different ways. The fee for having him tell me this was $77. I know they were clogged. I know one downspout is under a floor. It's my house. He didn't tell me anything I didn't know already. He essentially charged me $77 for an estimate without imparting any further information or providing any other service. This is not a good deal.

"When this customer initially called he had a lot of questions on how to clean out his clogged downspouts. We explained that we could try and cable them or use a water jet. This all depends on what is causing the stoppage and what type of pipe we are cleaning. If the pipe is black corrugated you cannot use blades it will cut right thru the pipe. He also had a few different downspouts that need to be cleaned...he needed to know if we clean one downspout will it take care of the others...what if the cable doesn't work and you have to use the jetter will you charge me for the cable? what if the line is collapsed and you do all that work will I be charged...I explained I need to send out my service tech have him look at all the problems and determine what needed to be done and then he could best give you a price on doing all the work.i also explained there is a $70.00 service charge for coming to the property and diagnosing exactly what needs to be done he agreed. upon arrival we determined that 1 downspout was under the shed and couldn't be cleaned because there was no access to the pipe. the other downspouts could be cabled in an attempt to clear.. We quoted him a price to do the job and he declined. we collected a service charge for the 40 minutes we were there and left a detailed estimate and receipt."

The job was fine. The guy who came out, Jeremy, seemed a bit annoyed that I was an Angies List member and had a coupon. It ended up turning out ok though.

It went great. The technician saved me time and money as well as imparting knowledge about garbage disposals that I was unaware of. Overall this was an excellent experience and I'd recommend Bob Oats Plumbing.

The service went well. I thought I was going to have to get a new sewer line but they were able to patch it. I believe I paid an additional fee for additional footage I needed covered. I was not home while they did the job but they completed the job in 2 days. I had no problem contacting the company or scheduling the service.

The woman who answered the phone was friendly and helpful. She scheduled us for next day service between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. My son waited at the empty condo unit, and the provider showed up at 2:50pm. The job was finished in less than 20 minutes. The price seemed like a lot for such a small job, but we haven't used them or any other plumber for a while, so I can't say for certain. I was happy we could get the work done for the buyer and condo closed the next day.

I accidentally let the Angies list coupon for 1.5hr plumbing for $149 elapse. They were great in honoring the discount and to send there skilled worker out to install the purifier. I had to pay additional monies as apparently the scope needed was more than I had paid for. Heck, it's there business, so ok. I just want my water purifier installed. All went as planned, the filter had a defect so had to send that back. The worker agreed to come out to finish installation once I had all parts in working order. Once I had the new working filter

I am extremely dissatisfied since they never sent me the video of the sewage scope. I wrote down my Email address myself, so no way there's a typo or anything! I was charged about $100 and never got anything back!!

It went fine, Dale completed the job in two hrs, and cleaned everything up afterwards. I was pleased. However a few days later a leak developed under the sink and he had to return and replace the supply lines. All has been well ever since.

Bob Oates had an Angie's List deal at the time, so I called them to ask about whether our scoping project was likely to fit within the one hour time limit of the deal. I was assured it almost certainly would be by a supervisor named Robert, and, given what I told him about the situation, that he would come out personally.
The morning of the appointment as I was leaving the house, I noticed a Bob Oates truck. Luckily I went back
because the tech had shown up over an hour before the start of the 2
hour window the office told me. The tech tried to get the camera
through the pipe and could not. He struggled for more than an hour and
could not figure out where the pipe went. Robert did eventually show up
(about 2 hours after the tech had started). They continued to have difficulty and had to borrow basic tools from me (screwdriver, drill) to partially get through.
I was told that our contractor had plumbed the downspouts incorrectly and that we needed to have the whole side sewer line replaced.
I contacted Robert via e-mail for confirmation of their conclusion about what was wrong about the downspout plumbing

From our discussions on site, I have the impression that:
1) the Y junctions are installed in the opposite direction that they
should be...as such they impede flow and cause problems for snaking out.
2) there is a T junction installed which is never supposed to be used in side sewers 3) the gutter outflow loops backwards to the driveway drain rather than continuing in the direction of the main sewer line
4) very slight (25% or less) sediment obstruction was observed
in this convoluted area. The cause was suspected to be the high sand
production from a new roof and the turbulent flow produced by the
incorrect alignment of the tight line
5) the type of piping used does not meet code 6) piping serving the driveway drain goes under a structural post"
Robert responded with "Yes that all sounds about right there. "
We got a pretty hard sell for replacing the whole side sewer. We were interested in getting the porch supported by that structural post dealt with, so we hired someone to come remove the concrete, fix the "corkscrewed" pipe, and get that post supported.
When he got the concrete out and dug up the pipes, it was a totally different situation. There were no Y's. The pipe was not under that post (thankfully). There wasn't a corkscrew (the excuse for why the scoping had taken so long). Given that none of these conditions existed, the contractor wanted scope to figure out what else went on downstream of this area to ensure we weren't connecting to something with a corkscrew. We contacted Robert asking them to come out again because things were not what we expected. He denied getting anything wrong "it is plumbed in illegally and would never would have passed inspection part just what was said" [Robert says Ts in such lines are illegal, so, one T and the whole thing is illegal]. He never conceded that they had gotten anything at all wrong or caused us inconvenience. No offer of a discount to come out again (not even honoring another Angie's List price for a repeat visit). We got a different company to come out and scope it. They had no trouble getting done in under an hour (and, in fact, they went around the house scoping all the lines and got all the way to the street in about 1/2 hour total). They said there was no issue and no reason to replace the side sewer line. It was awesome not to have to take up another whole morning watching a guy with a little tv screen, much less, not to have to pay hundreds of dollars for all that extra time!
I am so glad we didn't have Bob Oates do further work. They don't stand behind what they say and apparently try to sell people on services they don't need. The tech was very polite and tried very hard, but he didn't seem to know what he was doing (the difference between watching him with the scoping equipment and the other company was pretty incredible). The supervisor I got gave either an incredibly hard sell or became argumentative when confronted with what seemed to me to be a pretty clear mistake (I have it in writing after all).
I strongly recommend staying away from Bob Oates.

"I did have 2 men at the property and they did work on getting the camera down the downspouts. We did manage to get past the tee's and showed the customer the line had some offsets and other damage of which we located and marked including the depth of the problem. Customer called another contractor who did the repairs and then was able to scope the line after doing the repair which was based on my camera locates and DVD..i still have the DVD showing Tee's were installed originally which caused us a problem in doing the locates and inspection. We did spend over 3 hours locating what we could we were not able to see the complete line and was unable to even give the customer a price or estimate on repairing the line. This was an unusual job, I complete 1000's of jobs a year and have hundreds of positive reviews I maintain an A rating with Angies list as well as all other review sites...We tried our best. I stand behind the diagnosis as well as all the work my employees do for this company...Sincerely, Bob Oates"
