Due to the severe slope of the ceiling and our budget, we had wavered on whether a shower was going to be feasible so we asked Bruce to do a half bath. After he started work and we talked it over, he suggested adding large skylights which he could pop out a foot, increasing the usable space. We went with the shower and could not be more pleased with the results. Bruce works alone but did everything - framing, plumbing, electrical, tile, drywall, etc. His work was high quality and he was very conscientious about making sure his materials and tools were put out of the way and any messes cleaned up before leaving for the day.

Our front deck was rotting from the inside out and showing signs of old age and poor maintenance. We noted it when we bought the house 4 years ago, but put it on the back burner as we concentrated on energy efficient windows and appliances. However, the deck continued to deteriorate right before our eyes. We knew we had to do something, but we had a very limited budget. The final straw came when a house guest fell through as one of the deck boards came apart like cardboard under her foot. Luckily, she was not injured, but we acted right away and threw ugly plywood over the "soft spots," while we hunted around for a builder. We got 4 bids and were impressed with all of them, but this project simply came doing to price and experience. Bruce Blessing, came over...reviewed our deck and presented a course of action that was both affordable and attractive. We hired him within days and he began work on the very next day. He initially drew out some designs and listened to our suggestions. We wanted a horizontal look, but were advised that this would scream "ladder" to our young son. We agreed and went with a very attractive and modern vertical picket look. Working alone, he removed our old deck, delivered lumber, installed the new deck and railings and hauled away the waste. Though the deck is not very big, around 200 sq. feet, he was hindered by horrible weather (wind and rain) and OUR last minute decision to go with a lattice facade around the underside. He took it with stride and had everything done within 45 working hours spread over about 8 days. His estimate was almost right on the money and probably would have been slightly under had we not made the last minute lattice decision. He was prompt, courteous and extremely professional. I cannot stress enough how CLEAN Bruce was throughout the entire process. Other than the lumber pile, you'd have no clue we were having a major project underway in our front yard. No nails, scraps or sawdust were present at the end of any work day. I'd also like to add that Bruce is always at the ready and responded to questions via cell and text throughout the project. We were kept informed of his progress and where we were with costs. We we so impressed with his workmanship and professional manner, we will be re-hiring him next year to replace our back deck.
