ALERT! Do NOT take your reptile here... I brought my beardie in with a gum infection. I was very clear to the techs that I was worried about this infection. Apparently, they failed to tell the vet about this, or she just wasn't concerned. She walked into the room, picked up a spatchula (literally, one from the kitchen) and poked straight into the infection, releasing the abyss, and disconnecting my dragons gum from her mouth. My dragon ended up having to go into EMERGENCY SURGERY because of this... unfortunately, because the doctor has no idea what she is doing, the surgery only made it worse. She then had the nerve to write on the paperwork that we had come in with the abyss already popped open like that.. TAKE YOUR REPTILE TO DES MOINES REPTILE VET trust me, this place is a total scam. After they hurt my baby and made her infection 10x worse in an uncontrolled medical setting, they refused to answer or return any of my calls.. Des Moines Reptile Vet is a responsible and professional medical facility who actually cares about you and especially and most importantly, your animal friend:)

She has been having respitory issues so the doctor did a full examination and they put her on 2 anti-biotics. The staff was fabulous as always. They know me by name there now from all of my visits. I think the cleanliness of the office, even for being in a small house is very clean considering how many exotic animals such as snakes, turtles, and birds come through there. Being a nurse and being neat, I am happy to say that I have been a customer here for some time and I do so for the service and the fact that they aren't going to lay my animals on some dirty operating table. Very satisfied with the work done.

The got me in on short notice, they examined my pet, helped me make the tough decision that this was the end. They were kind and compassionate as you would expect a good Veterinarian to be.

I've taken my beloved Miel, BC Conure, to Dr. Bennett since I moved to Seattle about six years ago, and I feel extremely grateful to have a veterinarian of her quality here. So far, Miel has only had the very thorough annual exam; I'm fortunate that he's stayed in good health, thanks to Dr. Bennett's care and advice. She is in the top tier of avian vets, the creme de la creme. If you love your birds, want the very best care for them (and of course, you do) this is the place to go. The people are absolutely dedicated to the well-being of birds, not just yours, but birds, period. They are very willing to answer questions on the phone. One of Dr. Bennett's services is to help find a good home for your bird if you should become unable to care for it. What a comfort this is. She and her husband own many parrots because they truly love them. They are not in this business to make a lot of money. Dr. Bennett goes above and beyond the call of duty, such as speaking at bird clubs, and in general giving her time to help birds. She writes for and speaks to other avian veterinarians. She is informed about the latest advances in avian medicine. Her credentials are outstanding. I am always amazed that the prices are as low as they are, considering all that goes into the care of these exotic creatures. Avian medicine has come a long way since I adopted my precious Gabriel, the Budgie, almost 50 years ago! I cannot recommend this vet and her practice highly enough.

They're really nice about calling back to check a couple of times to make sure that everything is going okay. I will use them again in the future.

Veterinarians and support staff are all specialized and experienced in the care of exotic animals and birds. The small practice is always friendly and knows my pets well. They are very caring when euthanasia is needed and send condolence cards when pets pass away. I would highly recommend them. Their practice does not cover cats or dogs, so it is a low-stress experience for sensitive animals, and they help out the city shelter's exotic animals in need.

Our small tortoise, Jaochin, has been going to this veterinarian for several years. He doesn't really like going to the vet since most of the patients are birds (tortoises don't like birds at all). However, Dr. Bennett owns a couple of the same type of tortoise and she's been instrumental in keeping ours healthy. It's handy that the clinic will analyze stool samples without having to see the tortoise. That way, our little pet doesn't have to experience the panic of going to a place with lots of birds, and he can still get medicine when he needs it.

I have been very happy with them. Everyone is very gentle and enthusiastic about exotic pets. The staff is friendly and capable. The office is a little cramped and crowded. The doctor is very knowledgeable and offers tips on nutritional supplements to enhance health.

My experience with them has been very good. They take care of the birds. They do a yearly checkup. They are very good if you have a bird or any type of exotic animal.

WE LOVE THIS VETERINARIAN! EVERYONE THAT WORKS THERE IS VERY GENTLE AND CARING WHEN IT COMES TO LIVING THINGS. WE HAVE TAKEN ALL THREE OF OUR FERRETS TO THIS CLINIC FOR REGULAR CHECK UPS AND SHOTS. WE HAVE EVEN USED ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES AS A SITTER FOR THE FERRETS WHILE WE WERE ON VACATION.
