Wow, sent them a message back in Jun via the Messaging service on Angie's list and never received a response. Not even to tell me they do not have the capability to perform the kind of service I was inquiring about. Oh well -
No need to contact me at this point, I've since engaged another service provider.

Initially, we installed a Kenwood Navigation head unit, which seemed not to work in the way I wanted it to-so Bill offered to swap it out, without additional charge, for a Pioneer unit. I was very happy to do that. Unfortunately, it turned out that the Pioneer unit also did not work the way I needed it to. After six months of use, they agreed to pull it and reinstall the stock system at no additional charge. They offered to install it if I am able to sell it locally, and/or to vouch for the condition if necessary. I have been VERY happy with the service and would be happy to have any installation there.

The guys at Ballard Custom Audio were very easy to work with, if a little difficult to find. The shop is tucked behind another building that faces the street. That notwithstanding, they took my car in right on time and were finished with the installation about 45 minutes faster than their initial estimate. They were even able to help with providing a wiring harness adaptor when we discovered Crutchfield had shipped the wrong one. They charged a reasonable fee for the adaptor and saved me the time of having to go back to Crutchfield for the right part.
Overall, great experience and I'll be back to install a new stereo for my wife's car as well.

I chose Ballard Custom Audio because of all the A+ ratings on Angie's List. I had a great experience!
My first contact was via email. I asked the owner and head installer of the shop, Bill, if it was possible to install a custom sound system in my newly restored '72 VW Super Beetle. He said he'd done many Beetles in the past, and that I should bring it by so we could talk.
I brought my Beetle in, and we decided on a good system that would fit in my budget. Just from talking to him, I could tell he knew his stuff, so I felt very confident having him do the job. I also asked if it was possible if he could install a cigarette lighter in my dash (so I could charge my phone!) since he'd already be in there doing wiring and stuff and he said it would be no problem. I made an appt for the install and we were good to go.
It took a day to do the installation. Two front speakers with separate tweeters, rear speakers, a subwoofer, an amplifier, and of course the stereo unit. The cigarette lighter was installed too, right in the dash where I wanted it. Looked like it was factory installed! In fact, the job was so precise and clean, it looked like everything was factory installed! Real nice carpeting on the front and rear speaker housings, and a custom box enclosure for the rear speakers. What was really cool about the rears is he had the forethought to install them in such a way that I could retain the flap that the car had in the first place to flip up and cover the rear speakers if I wanted to, to prevent theft. The amplifier and subwoofer are well hidden. He created a custom face for the stereo unit so the orange paint behind the dash wouldn't show through. But wait, there's more! Not only did he do a fantastic job installing everything, he did a couple really nice extra things for me. My headlight knob was really worn and crappy looking, so he replaced that! When he took the seats out to work on it, he noticed they didn't adjust very easily (a big annoyance for me that I had intended to repair), so he greased the tracks before he re-installed the seats! Now they slide back and forth very easily! He also told me there was a disconnected spring underneath the driver's seat so he reattached that. Nice!!!
When I came to pick up the car, he showed me everything he did, and then educated me on how to operate my system. He took his time even though another customer was waiting, and I really appreciated that. In talking with him, I also found out that he would be able to install my new upholstery when I decided to do that. He does more than install stereos! He's a man of many talents! This is one of the reasons I frequent small businesses. Personal service and a lot of pride in their work. Just awesome! Go see Bill for all your audio needs. He does it RIGHT, and he deserves your business!

I found them on Angieslist, Everything went fabulously. They are true experts and seem to be able to keep overhead minimal so that they can put in great sound systems without breaking the bank. They also have a genuinely great aesthetic sense which is lucky because why shouldn't something that sounds that great look great too?
Very nice, and deserving of my very highest recommendation. Thanks to all of you who gave them all those and quot;Aand quot;s before. I'm not sure I would have found them otherwise, so and quot;Thank youand quot;.

They installed a modern remote alarm system in a 2004 Tahoe which had a stock factory alarm (which proved useless when thieves bypassed it by breaking the key lock on the driver's door). They were able to tie the new alarm into the existing automatic door locking system which was not easy but they are very experienced and competent. They had to work some bugs out of it and I had to bring it back in. They were very professional and gracious - none of this and quot;blaming the userand quot; or and quot;it's not my joband quot; attitude that is so prevalent today. As a bonus - they are very nice people. It was a pleasure doing business with them.

Wanted to upgrade speaker system without replacing complete audio system in my late model car, which despite manufacturer's claim, had sound system that sounded tinny. Spoke with Bill over the phone and discussed all possible options, low to high. Made an appointment to have just the front speakers and tweeters replaced. Upon further thought, decided to have the rear speakers replaced at the same time. Bill and crew were great. Gave me a test drive of the components. Upon hearing the test, I was satisfied with what I was getting. Had the install done and the result is great. Not only did they do the speaker install, but they did Dynamat for soundproofing in the doors and around the speakers. Am very pleased with the result. Bill and staff are low key, and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this shop.

I called Ballard Custom Audio to find out how much it would cost to remove a faulty after-market security system from my new-to-me car. Bill (the owner) gave me the best price to remove the system ($65), which was $$20 lower than Car Toys. I also asked about getting an AUX input installed, and he walked me through all the options and was very informative without trying to sell me on something I didn't need. Because this a new local shop in my neighborhood (and because Bill was so helpful on the phone), I took my car in the next day. While we had initially talked about replacing the faulty security system with a new one, after looking at my car Bill told me that I really didn't need to buy another one since the factory system should be sufficient. What?!? You know you're working with someone honest when they tell you you DON'T need to purchase anything additional! When I went to Car Toys they insisted that if I didn't buy a new system to replace the old one the key fobs wouldn't work and my car would have no security at all. Since I no longer had to buy a new security system, I decided to have the Android plug-in installed. Again, he showed me how I could spend more and integrate the system into my factory radio (so I could control my ipod through the car stereo) or just run it through an FM station, which was about half the price. I went the cheaper route, and Bill went right to work. The whole thing was done in about two hours, and the finished result is awesome! I will definitely be going back if I need any other toys for my car.
