They did the work quickly and they knew their stuff. They were reasonably priced.

My basic testimony  about A.W. Hoss and Son Furniture Manufacturing Co Inc is that they have reupholstered every piece of upholstered furniture in my house. Their upholstery is an art and a science it is very complex getting supplies and materials so everything is dependent on the selections that the customer makes, when they are available so the time factor is always sort of a moving target depending on availability but their quality is impeccable, their customer relations are honest and straight forward, their pricing for the quality that you get is amazing and they are basically genius.

I searched for a place to get foam for some chair cushions I was having made. After reading reviews, I went with AW Hoss. I went in with the old chair covers, but because they were an odd size, the gentleman asked me to bring in the actual foam. Not a huge deal, so I brought it in. I did so on a Saturday, but there was nobody there who could cut the foam. I was told it would be finished on the following Monday, and that I would get a call to confirm. No call. I wasn't in a big hurry, so no big deal. 2 weeks passed. I called again. Was told they'd check, and get back to me. No call. I emailed and called to leave a message. No return call. Called one more time. The foam was not yet cut, and she was going to check and call me. No call. I gave up. They were very nice, but the service was horrible. I'm sure they're better at upholstery than they are at communication, but wow.

Initially, I was very impressed. They spoke in great detail about what they would do and how they would do it. I saw other items in their store that represented a very high quality of work. We talked about pricing for the pillows, but the foam was not priced ahead of time. I dropped everything off and was told I would received an estimate in my email in 2-3 days. It never arrived. I called after 5 days and was promised an estimate that day. It didn't arrive. I called again, 2 days later. The estimate finally arrived a few hours later. The price is expensive, but less than other places I considered for the same work. I was very upfront about timing and asked that my expectations be set correctly because I would be leaving town. I called a few days before the work was to be completed just to verify the best day/time to pick them up. The person on the phone was very curt. So, I waited until the day they were due for pick up. I called to confirm they were ready and was told someone would have to call me back. I received a call back in several hours and they said they would definitely have them ready, but would call when they were finished. So, I waited. Finally, 40 minutes before closing, I called. Everything was ready, but they claimed they didn't have my contact information. I found this very frustrating as I have called them several times, left my business card, and my contact information was taken when I dropped off the materials for the job. The quality of the work is excellent and I am very pleased with the new foam and the pillows. Strange --- when I picked them up, no one bothered to ask me what I thought, did I like them, or even bother to show them to me. As for their process, it is terrible. Lastly, I talked to them about building a custom ottoman. They never bothered to send that quote and when I replied in email asking for it, I never received a response. No worries, I don't have the stomach for that process, so I won't be needing the quote.

THE CHAIRS ARE CARVED FROM KOA WOOD AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND A COMPANY TO HANDLE THE UPHOLSTERY JOB. THEY REPLACED THE SEAT COVERING AND IN SOME CASES ALSO REPLACED THE FOAM. THE WORK IS OF A VERY HIGH QUALITY.
