AUTO BUFF

When I went to pick up the car, the paint on the door repaired did not match. They had used a black metallic when my car was not metallic. I had to take the car back to them for another 4 days to get the door repainted. They had also left my window down while doing the work so the inside of the car was covered with dust and the back seat had a stain from the wet sanding. The second time I went to pick up the car, the paint matched but there was white over spray all over the font of the car. This was blamed on a contractor a half block away spray painting a new condo. There were also spots on the repaired door that had black over spray that has not been buffed out. The third time I went to pick up the car, there was buffing compound all over the hood where they had attempted to remove the white over spray. The door that had been repaired had very obvious swirl marks that almost look like stripes they are so prevalent. My car spent the better part of two and a half weeks in the shop for a door ding and detail job. I give up. Never taking my car back to Auto Buff. Lost a local customer.

I got what I asked for. An unavoidable delay when some mechanical problems were corrected.

This company has been open in West Seattle for years and years, I have heard nothing but great things about them until the last year. As other reviews have stated, customers still seem happy with the detail services but there have been issues and complaints regarding the body work services. This was discouraging to me because I had been considering using them to do some painting on one of my cars but after reading the reviews, decided only to try to schedule a detail appointment and see how that went.
I say try because I didn't even get as far as scheduling an appointment. About 9-12 months, I had gone into the shop to inquire about what they offered. It was sunny and the shop seemed busy so the somewhat abrupt attitude of the person behind the desk and one of the guys who looked at my car I had chalked up to the activity of the shop - a good sign right - that lots of folks were choosing them to have work done?. Still, no one was exceptionally friendly. I decided to make other arrangements when I couldn't get an appointment until weeks later.
About 4-6 months ago, in wetter weather, I stopped into the shop thinking the season would be slower and I could get a timely appointment. The shop was quieter but the lady behind the desk was much ruder. She basically told me she was too busy to help me and that I needed to schedule my own appointment with what ever package I wanted on-line on their web site. and quot;It's all there.and quot; She said. Ok - interesting that she would let business in hand walk out the door on the chance that that business would book on line. I wasn't thrilled by this, so I blew off the appointment until a couple weeks ago.
I got on their web site and could not find a way to and quot;book an appointmentand quot; other than to send an email to Rico - the owner. I did stating what I was looking for - a full detail package. Well, never heard from him - via phone or email.
Further I noticed mention of a web site review place I had never hear of before. I googling a few things I found that this company is NOT recommend by the local Better Business Bureau mostly due to complaints (2) where one was completely ignored by the company. The unknown review site has several one line positive reviews without hardly any reference to actually services performed which makes it a bit suspicious.
Three strikes and you are out in my book. I kept coming back willing to give them a chance simply on the word of mouth reputation I had been hearing over the years, but they clearly don't want my business.

Everything went smoothly.

They do a very thorough and fantastic job. The car looks new again each time I pick it up. They fit me in at my convenience.
