Jay took over our project (a massive rebuild/remodel ) after we had consulted at least three other architects. He immediately arranged a consultation with a structural engineer (CT Engineering Rob Thompson- see review) and in the course of that three hour consultation we accomplished more than had been accomplished in the previous three years working with far too many architects and contractors. Structural engineers are not cheap but I believe you cannot get a better deal for your money. This was Jay’s most important contribution to the project. Other architects we worked with were insistent on modifying our plans extensively but Jay understood very early on that we wanted exactly what my wife had drawn (to excruciating detail ¼” =1’), and that this was not a trophy house. Starting in October, he was able to get the project permitted in time for the summer construction season and he recommended a very fine contractor (Paul Kohl- see review).
