Andy Marshall Construction

After receiving estimates from four companies, we decided to work with Andy Marshall. He understood what we wanted and he said it would be no problem. His schedule is usually very full and he told us up front it would be a couple months before he could work on our job. Andy and his crew completed our job November 2020. They were always on time, respectful of the property, and completely kept me in the loop with communication. The front stairs look great and I would absolutely recommend Andy and would hire him again.

Andy and his two man team were fantastic. They were very friendly and very professional. They took down the old deck quickly on a Friday morning. From Monday to Friday, they built the new deck. It is very well built and gorgeous. The price was very reasonable. We hope to hire Andy again to install some soffits in our eves and maybe a window in our attic.

Andy and his crew did a nice job on my deck, with Azek decking and cedar railings. They tore out my old deck and built the new one in 5 days. They cleaned up well, and the price was reasonable. I am pleased with the result.

Andy and his crew used 5 stringers and all Azek materials (steps & risers) to replace the wooden backyard steps. The concrete siding couldn't be saved so Azek was used there too. They worked around an iron railing anchored in the concrete. Andy exhibited very good problem solving skills to solve "old house problems." Once the job was scheduled, he was prompt, very friendly and cleaned up well. Personal email and phone are the best ways to contact him.

Andy and his crew were really terrific. They were very experienced and understood what was needed to remedy our deck situation. Andy was very committed to making sure that his team met all of the requirements/goals we had laid out. Andy communicates with clients and with his crew very well. They get along with each other and cooperated on the project with good humor. There was good collaboration on choosing the best solutions. The work was done in two days which was most welcome. I would definitely hire Andy Marshall Construction again.

We got a front and back porch cedar railing installed as well as two side gates, some fencing, and an outdoor basement stair railing. Andy and his crew were punctual, communicative, did great work, and were a pleasure to work with! We showed them photos and explained what we wanted it to look like and they made it happen. We’re really happy with how it turned out. Would hire them again and recommend them to anyone looking to have similar work done!

Andy showed up more or less when he said he would. He had good help and the necessary tools. The job went pretty well. He's not totally efficient in his process, preferring a more laid back approach. That was alright. But some of the quality was fairly laid back as well, with some hand sawed joints being less than perfect and some decisions about where to place boards (e.g., leaving some rather large gaps instead of using a wider board) at least "different" than I would have done it. But Andy also had some good ideas about the project (e.g., talking me into removing and replacing ALL the old decking), so in the end it was good.

Andy and his son did a great job. They were super flexible and Andy kept me informed of the additional costs beyond the bid amount necessitated by the changes in materials we ordered.

Andy was very responsive from the beginning. He and his crew, DJ, Lucas, and Rufus (project foreman) showed at the time I was told they would show up. They explained the process where I had questions and were very courteous and professional. I am very appreciative of the work performed and the quality of the work and will likely hire them for future projects as they arise. Thanks Andy.

It went great. Andy stopped by on a Sunday to take a look at the deck. Within two days he had emailed me an estimate. As soon as I gave him the approval to proceed, he was at our house with his assistant DJ in less than a week. They showed up when they said they would and did a great job of replacing the sunken post and added a much more stable and adjustable concrete support block for the new post. He took the time to explain what he was doing which I appreciated. The deck is more stable now than it has ever been and is once again level. I would definitely hire Andy again.

Previous deck had multiple problems. For example it created a 11" step up from the adjacent path, which made walking around the house and down to the rear patio a pain. Instead of a similar deck, we needed something that made moving through the area easier. Yet, because of French doors, we still needed some form of deck. It forced an unusual design. Andy Marshall Construction did a wonderful job of problem solving and building it.

Andy and his team did a great job! No question we will use them again. Price and service was outstanding.

I got him on Angie's List. I would grade everything an A-plus, except I think he really charges quite a bit, and my thinking was a porch has to last a long time. I didn't wanna take any changes. But I did have an issue with a couple of the posts - that they cracked - and I took pictures and I e-mailed them and he sent me an e-mail back and he said I'm not responsible for what the weather does. I said well can you fix it and he said yeah and I said well how much and he said oh it'd be around $300. I thought to myself, you know I hadn't even had that porch for long and I just thought that he should have been a little nicer about just maybe giving me a little bit of a discount or something, considering the amount I paid for the porch, so with the price I could really only give him a B-minus. And with using him again, sadly I wouldn't use him again. I had somebody else that I didn't get on Angie's List repair the posts and they charged me $600 to pressure wash the porch and put a clear coat on it and fix those two cracks. So this front porch which isn't any big of a deal, it cost me over $6,000. Andy was a real nice guy, he was very professional, he showed up on time, all of the above, but that really kind of put a sour taste in my mouth when I had those cracks. It's only been within the last two months that I contacted him about that, so sadly, I can't use him again.

The work was completed quickly and professionally. Andy was helpful with my questions about our options regarding the wood railings, which I kept, and quickly and cheerfully removed a rotted railing for me at no charge. Cleanup and disposal was thorough. I would definitely hire again.

Andy's craftsmanship and attention to detail is great. He's super friendly, punctual and got the job done quickly.

Terrific. Andy's quote was in the same ballpark as the other estimate I received; although he was going to be booked until the end of September, he took the initiative of contacting me when he had a cancellation. He and his crew were here working the next day and the entire job was finished in 3 1/2 days. I am extremely happy with the results!

From the estimate process to the completion of the job, Andy was a pleasure to work with. He made excellent design recommendations that improved our usable square footage and the end result exceeded our expectations. The job included building stairs and a landing and he even made a special space for our dogs! The job site was neat and his helper, DJ, was wonderful as well. I recommend him highly!

Andy and his crew did a fantastic job of replacing our rotting-out front steps.  Punctual, professional, and very friendly, Andy was a great contractor when multiple others had failed. Would not hesitate to use his services again, and recommend without reservation.

Fantastic!  Andy and his team showed up on the arranged date and completed the job in about a week. They were extremely professional and it was always a pleasure talking with them. When they found issues (e.g., rot), Andy was quick to notify me and offer solutions. I always felt that he was considerate of costs and had our best interest in mind. Andy would also call occasionally to inform me of the progress or the project, which was equally appreciated. Moreover, if I sent an email in the evening with a question, I got a reply back the same night. Great communication!  The work he and his team did was amazing and the cleanup was so thorough that one would never have known that we just had major work done. You can tell he has been doing deck work for quite a few years and has great pride in his work. I am extremely happy with the end results and have asked Andy to bid me out on replacing our fence.  Great experience!

Andy Marshall and his assistant, DJ, built a deck for us using composite materials.  From the initial estimate throughout the building of the deck, Andy consistently provided quick, easy communication regarding costs, materials, construction and timeline for completion.  He and DJ are incredibly conscientious about their work and make sure to ask plenty of questions throughout the project to insure that the project is done to the homeowner's specifications.  We were so thrilled with the deck and how easy it was to work with Andy that we hired him to build a large, custom cedar fence.  Andy is an excellent communicator who provides daily updates and plans for the following day.  Once the project has begun, Andy and DJ (and sometimes his son) will work on the project until completed.  He doesn't utilize subs or work on multiple projects at once leaving your yard a mess and wondering when your job will become the priority (as other contractors sometimes do).  I thought I knew what I wanted for the fence based on others I had seen throughout the neighborhood, but Andy took it to the next level.  We talked through ideas and made modifications as the guys worked.  Our fence is absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't be more pleased.  Our home sits on a corner lot, so our fence is the first thing you see and it has made everything about the exterior of our home look more beautiful.  It was a joy to work with Andy and DJ (who are fun and funny to boot!) and I give them my highest recommendation!
