The worst experience I've ever had. A few of the appliances we initially ordered turned out to be out of stock. Communication about delivery and installation was terrible. We received one delivery notification at 9pm the night before they wanted to install at 10am the next morning. Deliveries weren't coordinated. We ended up missing work each time something was delivered. When delivering the refrigerator, damage was done to our steps, floor and molding. They also scratched the door of the refrigerator. they agreed to replace the door and scheduled a day for that to be done. when the day arrived, it turns out it was just someone from the manufacturer coming out to confirm that the door was scratched and needed to be replaced. So, we had to schedule yet another appointment for them to actually come out and replace the door. Another 2 afternoons of work missed! They sent someone to repair the damage and he did an ok job on the steps and molding, but the floor didn't get fixed. My husband and I gave up at that point. We couldn't stand the thought of speaking with the owner again. He was really rude and unhelpful considering all of the problems we had. He wouldn't even let us return the appliances unless we brought them back ourselves.

It was fine.  They worked with me for delivery date and picking up the old appliances.  It took about 2 weeks to get the appliances.

Never ever shop or purchase appliances at Almvig’s (www.almvigs.com).
As a small business owner myself, my family always tries to
shop family owned or small businesses.
So much so that even though I should have taken a clue from the rude
sales people I was dedicated to supporting a small business (and they were
located within a 5 minute drive).
I purchased $6K worth of appliance on July 3rd,
2014 for a full kitchen remodel.  They
were supposed to be delivered on Sept. 12th.  By 5pm, I never received a phone call (and I
had forgotten) so I drove down there to find out what happened.  I was told that yes, I was on the delivery
schedule, but they didn’t know what happened.
I said ok, now I need delivery on Sept. 18th.  They said absolutely.  On Sept. 17th, I called to confirm
my delivery and ask for a delivery window.
They put me on hold and the owner got on the phone to tell me they don’t
know where my appliances are and that it’s a problem with the warehouse.  They were supposed to call me back later that
day to give an update.  No update call by
5pm, so I drove down there to talk face to face.  They said they were still “working on it” and
someone would be doing physical inventory that night at the warehouse.  On the 18th, no phone call so I go
down there again.  Then the owner tells
me he has no idea where my appliances went and just doesn’t know what to tell
me.  I ask if he thinks my order is lost
or if it was stolen.  He doesn’t know.  Then says he needs to re-order all of my
appliances but they should be here by Monday the 22nd.  On Saturday the 20th, I go down
there to confirm my delivery and make sure they were able to get everything (my
kitchen contractors are now behind due to lack of appliances – costing me time
and money).  I talk to Scott, and ask him
about the delivery and what time frame I should expect.  He looks me in the eye and says, “Yes!  We have your entire appliance scheduled to be
delivered first thing on the 22nd, with the exception of the
dishwasher.  It is coming on a second
truck and will be to your place in the afternoon”!  I look at him and say, “Scott, I have having
a hard time trusting you guys.  I really
want to believe that you are telling me the truth”.  He says “Oh yes!  It’s written right here – it’ll be there!”
By noon on the 18th, no delivery.  I call and ask about it.  Put on hold 15 minutes.  Finally Don gets on the phone and tells me
that Scott had absolutely no right to tell me that the delivery was going to
happen because Don hadn’t even ordered my appliances yet!!!  Are you kidding me?!  They lied again right to my face and this
time with a smile!  Don said he was
ordering and just needing to find my dishwasher.
While I was on hold, I had time to search the internet for
reviews of Almvigs.  I found my story was
one of many!  If only I had known.
On Sept. 22nd, I drove down there again and
requested a full refund.  They took my
card, swiped it, and gave me a refund receipt.  I kept checking the bank each day and the refund never went through.  Almost two weeks later I went back and asked why my refund hadn't gone through.  Again I got more "I don't know".
I finally got refunded on 10/24/14 with the help of filing a dispute with my credit card company.

Hard to get someone to help you when you go into the store as everyone is often on the phone.
They were nice enough to match prices from another store.  They delivered the items on time and in good condition.

The final project looks good, but next time I will go directly to a stone fabricator for my work.  Also, I will not pay in full again until all arrangements are completed.  I thought using this nearby company to organize it for me would make the project easier, however that is not what happened.
The initial design and consultation seemed to go well.  When the installers came, they said that they needed other work done before they could do their work, however, I was very clear with the store consultant on what the plans were.  When I called in to the store, the consultant then said, oh yeah, that won't  work, the other stuff has to be done first.  In the meantime, they would leave the quartz at my house.  This was not the plan, but ok with me.  The installers did not bring the remnants, and were not in a position to arrange for them, so I asked the consultant to please have the remnants delivered to my house as soon as possible.  We wanted to use them for other projects, if possible (plus we paid for them!)  The consultant agreed to get the remnants to me.  We never got them, despite many requests through email and phone calls, and even calling the stone supplier directly.  This was also the end of any reply from the consultant.  I ended up scheduling the rest of the install through other people at the store, and never heard back from the consultant I worked with, which made everything more difficult, since the other people knew nothing about my project.
I was using this master bath project as a test for the store, to see if they could be a resource for much bigger projects (fully gutted & remodeled kitchen & full basement, including another bath, kitchenette, & laundry room) that we have planned.  I would like to support a neighborhood store, but they did not pass the test.

Not so good. They were very late to deliver it. They told us it would take five weeks and it took probably three months.

Scott at Almvigs was very helpful and informative about appliance options from different manufacturers.  No pressure to complete a sale, but made it clear that they were eager to earn our business (a turn of phrase I've always liked).
Specifically, they readily priced different options; gave a good, fair price for the package we selected; agreed to store the appliances until we were ready for delivery (dependent on contracting for the remodeling), and since we were purchasing a complete set, offered to come to pick up the old appliances before the remodeling, and return with the new appliances when we were ready for them.
All in all, easy to deal with and fairly priced.

After many hours of research and frustration shopping for a refrigerator (it's hard to find a white one narrower than 30"), I remembered our neighborhood Almvig's. We told them what we wanted and they took us directly to the right products. They know their stuff! We went home to research their recommendations and were pleased. Yes, there were delays getting the refrigerator (not their fault) but it was well worth the wait. The installers were pleasant, efficient and helpful. There was no additional charge to install the new and remove the old fridge.

Similarly, when we discovered that our builder never vented the stove fan outside, we chose Almvig's again, for a new range hood and installation, including venting outside. The installer was very knowledgable and pleasant. There were minor cosmetic issues with the installation -- I just wish people would tell you instead of letting you discover it yourself. And yes, I would use the same person again. It cost $200 to install which included drilling through the wall to vent outside.

Ok, so Almvig's is not the cheapest place in town, and they don't carry low-end products, but they are very knowledgable, local, and I believe will help if there are problems. I could have saved days of frustration if I had gone there first. You just don't get this kind of knowledge and service from the big box or online stores, and I would rather pay more and have it done right. I would use them again.

The delivery of my washer/dryer has taken over a week. It was supposed to be delivered on a Tuesday, I took the day off so I would be here, only to be called Tuesday morning and told that the appliance wasn't in the warehouse.
My delivery was rescheduled for today, Friday. I left two messages for Don, which he hasn't returned. Finally got someone to talk to...a woman...who acted entirely put out that she had to perform some customer service. Supposedly I am getting a delivery today, but still have not be called for a time slot.
Just terrible customer service. Would not revisit again.

Our 10 year old GE built-in oven died and needed to be replaced.  The owner helped us select a new one (Wolf).  However, it could not be installed because our older GE cooktop would not allow it to fit.  The owner and staff did extensive research to find us an oven that would work and none were available.  They then helped us find a new cooktop and gave us a deep discount because of all the problems with the job, which were not their fault. They installed the pieces in a timely manner.   They are a nice company to work with.  They want your business and are willing to go the extra mile to keep it.
The cost listed above is approximate for the installation.  Can't recall cost of the oven and cooktop, but I did my research and they came in at or below others.

Quality of the Bosch Dishwasher is high and even though they did not have a display model it has been an excellent high end machine.
Salesperson had limited knowledge about the model options and I had to do my own research.
Met the installation person when sold the product and paid for basic installation not knowing that Installer wanted to bill and receive payment independent from purchaser.
Installer contacted me day of installation and indicated product had not arrived so I invited Installer to do some minor electrical work on light switches.  Installer had difficulty doing electrical work, dishwasher arrive late in the afternoon instead of morning.
Installer installed new supply hose and electrical outlook drilling excessive holes in cabinets and wall that were not properly resealed.
Installer in attempting to get electrical work done caused major electrical spark and left work incomplete so that licensed electrician had to come next day and redo the electrical work.
Had to pay installer for additional dishwasher work and electrical work plus had to pay licensed electrician  about $200 to redo the work of installer.
Old dishwasher was taken away for free after six hour delay arrival of unit in late afternoon.

We were disappointed with the lack of communications between Almvigs and the customer on a simple delivery. My daughter had to adjust her work schedule and needed to know delivery date. I, the father, needed to be there to back up my daughter since she had work requirements that day. I think a lot of confusion could be averted with better "heads up" phone calls. I hope that Almvigs are not so busy that they cannot do followup phone calls that they promised they would do.

Basically fine.  The washer & dryer were delivered right on schedule, in good shape, and the deliverymen took away the old ones.  My only small complaint is that they didn't tell me I'd need to purchase a separate kit for reversing the dryer door, and when I called later to ask about it, they weren't sure where to get it.  But this is very minor, and I'd definitely shop there again.

After doing quite a bit of research on countertop material, we looked for retailers that installed Caesarstone.  We selected Almvig's because it was a local business, and Ken, one of the salesmen there, had been helpful with appliance inquiries.

They matched another company's price (which was marginally lower) and were able to come and install the countertop quickly, working within our timeline, which the other company we received a quote from was not able to do.

Unfortunately, the product we received was different from the sample at the store.  The sample we looked at was honed, we ordered honed, and we got a polished product, which was not the look we were going for.  They then explained that the countertop no longer comes honed (which I still don't know whether this is true) because there had been complaints about the maintenance of the honed product and its tendency to stain.  On the contrary, the [honed] product was sold to me as one that was low maintenance and non-porous.  Ken told me that he would "look into" whether the installer could sand it down to look honed, but of course by that point I was worried about what it would do to the product.  After not hearing from Ken for about a week, I called and emailed the owner, Don, to complain and explain the situation.

The next thing I know, they are sending the installer back to "fix it."  Almvig's still doesn't answer any questions about what this means and what it will do to the product because apparently they don't know and "you'll have to ask the installer."  At the appointed time, two workers show up at my house who only speak a few words of English, so they can't answer any questions.  They proceeded to hand sand the countertops over the following 7 hours with only minimal protection, leaving a layer of dust all over the dishes in the open cabinets and into the next room.  This also rendered the kitchen inaccessible for doing any other work despite our contractor planning to do quite a bit of his own work in there that day.  Fearing again for what this would do to the maintenance of the product, I had to do my own research to find out (and thankfully discovered that it would not ruin the product).

Sadly, this ordeal still wasn't over, because hand sanding left obvious areas that our not as well sanded as others, especially in the harder to reach areas.  I called the installer directly this time to let him know, and told him that, in the interest of prioritizing the other work in the kitchen, told him I would schedule a time for them to fix it in about 2 weeks.  He stated this was no problem.

Two weeks later, I called and left messages twice and got no response.  I complained to Almvig's again, and it wasn't until I threatened a negative review did they call the installer who then called me.  The installer did send someone to fix it and from that point it went fine.  Almvig's called to ask if the final product was to my satisfaction and to apologize for the delays and the hassle, but at that point it was too little, too late.   I would not recommend them for installation, but perhaps they are better with appliances.

I was not a high-end customer -- of which I am sure they have many - but I was treated with remarkable attentivenss and respect. The sales person, Scott, was VERY helpful, and took as much time with me as I needed. The prices were very competitive. Service was excellent (had trouble with a leaky Frenke tap and the Scottt came by himself and fixed it the same day.

It was an excellent experience. I found a washing machine on sale at Almvig's and then went home and looked at every website's prices including a few "membership" only site. Almvig's not only had had the best price on this model but had free delivery and took away the old one for free. They were very gracious and not at all pushy about the sale. It is possible to get cheaper machines, but I wanted to 1)buy local, 2)buy from a place that had good quality machines, so I didn't have to go through all the dross. Delivery was quick and painless. As a matter of fact, I measured the basement door and realized there was just a 1/4" clearance. So I was worried but it went smooth as silk and not even the tiniest scrape on the machine! They were just great. It all went swimmingly well. We were very happy with our experience there and would definitely go there again for our appliances.

They were able to install it on time and that was really great because it was thanksgiving and they saved my day. After sometime there was a problem with the dishwasher and I called them to take care of it. They sent a technician to fix it who took a very long time to fix it and gave me a bill that was very high, but, I paid it. A few months later, the same problem occurred and I called them back. They said he is not our technician and I will have to get in touch with him. Also, I got electric shocks from the stoves I bought from them. Again, when I called them they said the installer was not our worker and there is no warranty. Since, they could not help I had to find someone else to take care of the problems. They were not at all helpful once they sold me their product and I would not use them again.
Response from Almvig's Appliances Kitchens Baths
"The date of the sale was August 15th, 2006. The install was made by an independent installer, not an employee of Almvig's store. The warranty on this machine is 1 Year parts and labor. The model # of the dishwasher is DU1100XTPS, and the Serial # is FT2614685.These are the #'s of the dishwasher installed by the independent installer. If still under warranty, we would have given the phone number of a company that provides Factory Service for the specific brand, in this case for a Whirlpool product, If not under warranty, we would have given the name of an independent repair or service company, who works on Whirlpool products. We feel that the writer is unjustified in their criticism of us when we were not actually involved whatsoever in the repair of this unit. We have no control over servicers. When we learn of a problem on a repair, we usually always will discuss it with the Service company, and try to resolve it to everyone's satisfaction. I would request that you have her unjustified criticism removed. Don Sundene Store owner"

This is a fabulous store. Its locally owned by a very very wonderful man named Don. He really knows how to treat his customers well. If an appliance has a problem he will make sure it gets fixed or will give you a new one. He believes that the customer always comes first!I would not buy my appliances from any other store.

We had checked around on line and through several "box" stores but came back to Almvig's. The salesman was very helpful and was able to beat the price of any of the other stores. They did this without the hassle of a rebate or charging us for the pick up of old appliances or installation of the new ones. I was a little concerned when we found out by calling them the morning before we were to have the appliances delivered, that our refrigerator won't be available until the next day. It would have been nice if they had called us earlier. However, we negotiated a new day that worked for us. That day the people who do the delivery for Almvig's had an employee call in sick. But this time they called us and kept us informed. They hired temporary help and had our appliances delivered on the day they said they would. Installation went very smoothly. All in all my experience with this store was very positive.
