 + -1 moreIn the past, I haven't always had the same great experience that I had with this purchase and delivery when I visited the retail store. I realize they prefer professionals, but if they want the local community to support this local business instead of Home Depot and Lowe's, some of these guys could use some customer service training. A couple of times I had to deal with a very rude guy who didn't seem to like women doing their own projects; he argued with (rather than making suggestions) about my choice of wood for a pergola, insisting that only cedar would work and that my choice would rot in 2 years, despite being painted. My choice not only lasted 8 years on that pergola, it was re-used in another arbor and is now 16 years old (2 coats of paint). Nevertheless, in my last purchase, the guys on the phone and doing the delivery renewed my faith in this local company and I would recommend them for large projects.
Description of Work: Phone purchase and delivery of 14' 2x6 cedar decking. I was having a very hard time finding this particular size in cedar decking that didn't have all the ugly pressure treating "staples". I wanted all the planks one length, so 12' wouldn't work, and didn't want to waste 2' off the 16' lengths. Alki Lumber had a good price and took the order over the phone, delivering the next day. Although my driveway is awkward, the driver didn't complain (like several other service providers) and slid them off the flatbed quickly. The delivery charge wasn't as inexpensive as Dunn Lumber, but it was well-worth eliminating the hassle of picking it up myself and unloading it.

Description of Work: I was building a deck and looking for some quality surface for the top. I received great advice.

 + -1 moreALKI LUMBER IS WHERE MANY, MANY, MANY OF THE BUILDERS AND CONTRACTORS GO TO GET THEIR MATERIALS NEEDED TO BUILD WHAT THEY ARE BUILDING. THIS LUMBER YARD IS ALSO USED BY THE LITTLER COMPANIES AS WELL.
Description of Work: THIS IS A BUILDING MATERIAL CENTER AT ANYTIME IF WE NEED SOMETHING WE CAN GET IT HERE. THEY ARE ALL VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT ALL VARIETIES AND ASPECTS OF BUILDING.
