I am disappointed with the work Adams performed for us in 2019, in building our new seattle home. Instead of taking 7 months to build our home, they took over 14 months. The framing was to take 6 weeks (according to their own time table) but instead it look 6 months. Adams' first crew was led by a dishonest foreman, who encouraged the workers to pad their hours while leaving the job site one to two hours early each day. This foreman was ultimately fired but the rest of the crew remained. We finally settled on a refund amount from Adams for the fraudulent overbilling of the crew's hours. No new foreman was hired for the job. In general, the job suffered from a lack of qualified oversight. To complicate matters further, the crew's workmanship was not up to commonplace standards - the framing had to be corrected multiple times. The project was not optimally organized - sub contractors were called in out of order, causing time delays and extra expense. The house ran about 30% over the contracted budget amount that Adams' had given us. All in all a colossal disappointment.

Response from Adams Residential Contracting
To write a review with false, misleading and incomplete information does a service to no one. Adams Residential has produced wonderful results for hundreds of clients over a period of eighteen years. We treat our clients with respect. We keep impeccable records. We work hard. When we run into a problem, we confront it and deal with it in the best way possible, always treating people fairly. We often work for multiple families on the same street because people see how we work and they hear how we work from their neighbors, and they know it is a rarity to find a construction company like ours. In one Seattle building we have worked for twenty different clients over the years. 20 different clients at one location who all know each other and compare notes. We are what we say we are. We do what we say we will do. We value our future clients and hope that an unfounded and vindictive ‘review’ doesn’t dissuade anyone from reaching out to learn more about Adams Residential Contracting and what we can offer. If you would like to hear from some honest people about the level of satisfaction we have provided for them, please contact us and we will be happy to put you in touch with them.

They installed a different brand AC. Bait-and-switch: [*** Link removed ***] Non-retail use[edit] Bait-and-switch tactics are frequently used in airline and air travel advertising.[3] Hotels widely use the form of bait-and-switch tactics known as 'resort fees'. They first attract customers by advertising the lower price (which appears on all promotional materials and rate comparison engines), and charge customers the mandatory "resort fee" when they arrive for check-in.[4] Home service companies such as in the carpet cleaning, air conditioning, and security system industries often use bait-and-switch.[5] Professional wrestling has long used bait-and-switch tactics, promoting wrestlers and matches that either fail or refuse to appear or appear much differently than expected. A disclaimer on promotional material, "Card Subject to Change," is often used to justify or excuse this.[6][7]
Description of Work: We were quoted for the American Standard AC, instead they installed the Ameristar brand AC.

Adams was recommended by our architect, and from our first meeting with Kevin, the owner, and Gary, our project manager, we were confident it would go well. All we got from our architect was a (mostly) scale drawing of a basic design, and they were able to take that start and work with us to nail down all the details. They started work while we were out of town for a couple weeks, and had everything down to the studs by the time we got back. We had some specific ideas in mind for the kitchen, and Gary collaborated with us to work on a solution that would meet our design goals, recommending a cabinet-maker that was able to construct the design (exposed maple plywood edges with enameled colors on some drawers and cabinet fronts) at about half the cost we were quoted by another company. Gary was highly collaborative and friendly, providing great feedback about lighting, flooring and other choices that we needed to make. We're very happy with the end result. The one hitch we ran into was with the electricians, Bowie Electric. They came in to run the electricity to the new kitchen and family room as well as run some lines into other parts of the house. They missed some details that we had asked for, meaning they had to come back to do additional work, were unable to tell us where some of the lines went until we had asked multiple times, and had a lot of problems installing some basic kitchen pendants. However, I was happy they identified and ripped out a lot of old wiring that was not even close to code in the attic. Gary did a good job making sure we were not billed for the additional work they had to do to correct their mistakes. All in all we were very satisified with the work Adams did for us, recommended them to two different friends who are now using them for some remodeling work in their houses, and will likely have them back to do more work over the next few years.
Description of Work: Ripped out and remodeled the entire kitchen, including moving some walls. Also finished out an existing attached garage into a family room, and did some minor work in the laundry room.
