Air Duct Cleaning,

About us

DBA: Washington Air Duct Cleaning. With the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimating that most people spend between 60 and 90 percent of their time indoors, the need for fresh, clean air is very clear. Understanding the need and meeting it, however, can be two very different things. Fortunately, there are many things people can do to enjoy fresher and healthier air inside their homes: from developing a good cleaning routine to using air purifiers, from ventilating a house to replacing vacuum filters. One very important task not to be overlooked is the air conditioning and heating system cleaning.

Air Duct Cleaning
$350
False advertising: Coupon says: ?Unlimited vents up to a
single furnace.  We open, vacuum and
brush, deodorize and clean each duct under negative pressure.?

When the arrived they explained that this includes only
opening each vent and cleaning in proximity to the opening and not down the
entire length of the duct to the furnace.
That would require an extra charge.

This is false advertising in my book.

I will not let this company do any additional work for me
based on the errors and shoddy work that was already delivered.  Examples:
The dryer vent to the roof (this was my primary reason for
having the service):
They initially ran their 20 foot duct agitator down the
chimney for my gas water heater and told me they got a lot of debris removed
and that my dryer vent was cleaned from the roof end.    On my own initiative I had to verify the
vent routing in the attic myself and ask them which roof vent they cleaned to
find out they did the wrong one.  This
created a dangerous situation of a potentially blocked water heater chimney
based on the technician?s claim of getting a lot of debris out of it.   He didn?t recognize that deadly possibility
of a blocked chimney and was going to just go clean the proper vent.   I had to insist they disassemble the natural
gas chimney from the bottom and clean it from that end to ensure there was no
blockage.  Of course this company does
not have any contracting license in our state and is likely not allowed to even
work on a natural gas chimney.  So at
that point the technician should likely have said he can?t touch it and taken
action to get a qualified contractor in to check the chimney. They did clean
the chimney to my satisfaction and I went on the roof and found heat venting
cleanly so felt I was safe.
Bottom end of the dryer vent: They initially had me come to
view the completed bottom of the vertical vent using their own 3 foot
inspection camera.   What a joke.
I immediately saw that there was a huge buildup of dryer vent debris on
the walls of the vent going up for the 2 or 3 feet and worse, the bottom of the
vent below the opening was packed with at least a gallon of vent debris that
they didn?t even bother to try to remove.
They redid all that to my satisfaction but who knows what the duct
interior looks like above the 2-3 feet their camera reaches.
Dryer vent disconnected in attic.  As a final check I went on the roof myself
and ran the dryer and found zero venting.
By this time they were complaining that they had never been in any home
for more than 2 hours and that they needed to get done?.   I insisted they go into the attic and check
the dryer vent which, as it turns out, had separated in the attic when he ran
his agitator down from the roof.  They
reconnected it but refused to run their agitator down it to verify it was
cleaned so I cannot be sure it is.  I did
go onto the roof and verified that venting was occurring with the dryer on
though it did not seem very strong.   SO
I plan to have the dryer vent re-cleaned by a reputable service.
Most vents needed rework:
At this point I had to verify the cleaning on every vent
myself using their camera.  Over half had
needed more work for obvious debris, and there is no way to see beyond the 2-3
feet so it is unknown if they are clean beyond that.
Sanitization:  The
charged extra for sanitizing the entire system.
Seems like a useful service.  But
the procedure included spraying sanitizer into each vent.   Problem was, they did it while they have the
furnace on continuous fan so the sanitizer we blown right back and out the vent
opening.  I?m no expert in this but that
also seemed to be a totally improper way to apply sanitizer.  Seems like it should be applied when the
negative pressure machine was applied to draw the sanitizer thoughout the
system.  When I asked about this they
said ?oh no, look, it has a powerful spray and goes clear back to the
furnace.?  Sorry.  No way.
Also, the add says all vents and ducts.  However, that does NOT include the intacke
vents and ducts.  Those were extra.
The combination of misleading/false advertising and poor
service is something I wouldn?t wish on anyone.
I felt like my home was in danger and that these technicians were
totally trying to just get as much of my money as they could for a minimum of
effort.  I was extremely scared of the
potential danger from the chimney mistake and their lack of knowledge of what
they were doing.  And doing some research
found that dateline NBC has done a sting on a nationwide scam for duct cleaning
where situations just like mine happen and many people are scammed for high
fees for little or no beneficial work being done.   I?m sure there are reliable companies who do
vent cleaning.  I will never try the
?coupon? duct cleaners again and recommend no-one does.

Air Duct Cleaning
$350
Young man and a partner showed up and immediately began to explain to me why I needed to spend more than the advertised special and did a hard sell. Their advertisements were misleading and false and they had lots of reasons why the advertisement only covered cleaning right at each vent. I agreed to some additional costs and wish I had immediately sent them away. They did horrible work and I had to personally inspect every vent and over half had to be redone. And their camera goes in only 4 feet so there is no way to know if the interiors are cleaned. The came my dryer vent. It goes to the roof and after he said it was done I had to go look in the attic my self to find that he had actually run his drill powerd whip down the vent for hy gas water heater. I had to demand he disassemble the dryer vent and verify he hadn't clogged it up. The he did the real dryer vent and declared it cleaned. I turned on the dryer and went to the roof myslef to find zero air venting. I demaned they go in the attic and find the problem. They did and found he had broken the vent loose in the attic which he tryed to clean it from the roof. In the end they left 2 items undone and the place a mess. I had him call for their contractors license and talked to his "dad" who claimed they did not need a license other than a business license. The advertisement says licensed and certified technicians, niether of which is true. After I complained about all this he agreed to reduce my fees from $500 to $350 but I wish I had never had them here. Oh, and my dryer vent connections fell apart immediately after they left and I spent over an hour vacuuming and cleaning up. and now my dryer is out of commission until I hook it back up.

Air Duct Cleaning
This company double confirmed with me and then never showed up. When I called they were totally disorganized and promised to call me back promptly, but I never heard back, so I called again. At first they claimed I had no appointment. Then they admitted they had made an error and promised to have a manager call me. AGAIN, no call back. When I finally reached someone with any authority, they were unprofessional and offered me only a 10% discount for my inconvenience. Very disappointing experience overall
