Our experience has allowed us to put in place processes that address the challenges/special concerns of both the general contractor and the owner/builder, as well as the homeowner. Our experience and knowledge has allowed us to identify and understand the primary concerns facing the new construction builder and to address any potential issues early in the planning phase. Those issues are scheduling, material handling, quality control, water-intrusion protection, and attention to jobsite Safety standards. Oleg's cell phone 206-250-0174. About 6 months later I called Tim to set up a start date on the project and he jacked the price up a bit "due to seasonal demand", but it was still within my budget so I went with it. The delivery driver of the siding materials backed into the brickwork around my garage, but I was able to get that repaired by the delivery company. The team got a good start on tearing out the old siding and began to install the new siding. When I saw the newly installed siding, it was clearly a much larger exposure than what we had before, and definitely outside the tolerance of my HOA. This was confirmed by the phone call I got from our HOA manager, who let me know that someone on the HOA board noticed that the size was wrong and that we needed to stop the installation immediately. I had the project manager stop installation and get the correct size ordered, but Dom charged me for the siding that they had installed, the labor of installing the wrong siding, as well as the additional cost of the correctly sized siding + additional labor involved in installing smaller exposure siding. Tim insisted that he told me he was going with a larger exposure to save me money, though I am absolutely certain that I told him I needed it to be the same size as what I had. Tim constantly seemed suprised that a HOA could have any say over what I did with my house, which is unfathomable for someone who quotes residental siding projects. I was on the verge of cancelling the project with Dom and hiring another siding company to do the job correctly, though the initial payment I had already given to Dom would have been lost, and I wasn't sure it would be less over-budget if that is what I had done.
After they fixed the size of the siding, the rest of the project went reasonably well. The installers punched into a garden hose pipe in my garage, but were able to turn off the water main to properly fix it up when I returned from being out of town. The painters did a good job, though their subcontractor tried to charge me directly for painting my front door when it was clearly in the contract that the front door cost was included in the entire project. The quality of installation is pretty good, though I think there are a few joints I need to recaulk. They did not clean up well, and I continue to find nails and other debris on my property.
The project came in nearly $10k over the originally quoted price, and I was enormously frustrated by the whole experience. I am certain that I would have gone with another contractor had Dom quoted the price for the correctly sized siding, and I am apalled at how Tim's sizing error was "my problem" at a time when Dom would have been happy to walk away with my construction deposit and my siding torn off, leaving me up a creek.

Only after few calls I made them come back and pick up a garbage. Apparently the reason why they didn't do that was that they waited for the painter to arrive. When I asked when would the painter arrive, they said it depends on the weather and could be tomorrow or in a month. I couldn't imagine having all that garbage laying around for a month, so I forced them to pick it up. They came to pick some garbage up, but still left some leftover materials in the middle of the driveway and portable toilet on the neighbor's front yard. I have to make a few more calls to make them take care of that as well.
Finally, a week later the painter came and finished the job and they picked up all the garbage and a toilet. But after they claimed that they are done, there was still a lot of debris around: nails, glass and cigarettes all around, and the neighbor's flowerbeds were ruined as well. They also didn't reinstall the door bell (just left the cord hanging) and the address sign.
I would never work with them again and wouldn't recommend anyone to even call them. They are absolutely unprofessional.
2/11/2013 Update in response to Dom Construction's response below:
Price is not everything, I initially chose them because of their reputation, good reviews and a nice estimation guy. They were not the cheapest and I knew how much would the project cost, otherwise I wouldn't sing a contract. And now after this bad review Kenneth is trying to come after me with threats to remove doorbells and number signs and bogus invoice which appeared out of nowhere, 4 months after the project was done and all my checks were cashed. The project was done in October, but they have just noticed my review and are threatening me now. Beware to use them, they might come after you too!
"[member name removed] and Angie's List members, price C - well, when the price is just C why would you choose DOM Construction, not price A and XYZ company? probably we were the cheapest, but [member name removed] had no idea how much siding replacement might cost. if some of you have done any bigger project then you know, that timing and scheduling in winter time might be the issue. we agreed that we'll start after certain day, but no sooner. it means I had a window to set up my crew, material and dumpster. we showed up within 2-3 days. All material was there already - yes on the driveway - and dumper on the street. there was no room on the front yard or back yard. 3 guys crew work everyday and they finished - within 2 weeks. there was hardie prefinished siding, however (I awared [member name removed]) some areas like vents, blocks, soffits etc. had to be painted. so after we finish all siding I scheduled my painter. because of the rain in 2013 winter I had to wait to have no rain for 2 days before and 1-2 days after painting with temp above 33 degrees. yes, the dumper still was there and portable toilet just because painter had to use dumper and toilet. I get many email about the toilet and dumpster. The rest of material was segregated on the side of the driveway, nice and clean. finally painter finished his job and within 1-2 days all was gone. Also we are using United Site Services for portable toilets and sometimes when I am calling for pick up they are coming after 3 days. QUALITY - if anybody wants to see the siding from the street - you are very welcome. I have also pictures. Also I am sure that [member name removed] never saw the siding, because he moved to Cali and I had to sent him photos. btw - I never saw [member name removed] and I am sure he is good in whatever he is doing, but construction is not his good side. Yes please hire someone else next time then you will see how smooth we did our job."
Mr kowalski himself made some temporary repairs which allowed us to delay the whole job to a more convenient date, & he continued to monitor the work & provided many other excellent services for us.
The site Foreman, Vlad, made periodic inspections of the work in progress, coordinating with the workmen, Paul & Jose, who did an excellent job, working in some very uncomfortable weather conditions. They were very professional, friendly, considerate, & quick to comply with any of our requests.
The Siding used was the "Hardie" style plank siding & trim, primed in colors very similar to our desired colors, which will allow us to do the final painting in the spring.
Overall, we're very pleased with this job, & Dom Construction.

We communicated mostly via email and set up possible start date, it was within a couple days of that.
Because we have a old house 1937, I figured things may be found once you start tearing down old siding. So, there were moisture ants, Vlad the supervisor advised to get that taken care of before the new siding was put up. So the next day I had an exterminator come out and then they proceeded with putting on siding. They also had to replace the flashing on the deck so that there wasn't the ant problem again. There was some fascia and gutter issues because of the old wood, so Vlad set up a gutter company to do that with our approval. Whenever there were questions, Vlad was there to answer or see that things were fixed to meet our approval.
The actual workers were very friendly, had a good sense of humor and open to correcting any thing that need to be fixed when Vlad pointed out what needed touching up or changing.
The cost was more than what was bid, but when you have an old house that is bound to happen.
I am submitting the last payment today.
We are very satisfied with the work that was done.
In the end we weren't 10% sure of our choice of deck material so we went back and forth delaying the project start a bit until we could make up our minds. Vacek was able to accommodate and encouraged us to take our time to make the right choice for us. We did change our minds and chose Azek instead. Work began in early September.
There was a minor communication hiccup at the beginning between DOM and our insulation installer. This resulted in a 2 day project delay which wasn't a big deal for us. DOM was accommodating to allow them time to blow in insulation to our previously uninsulated walls after the existing siding had been removed. From there, the wrapping and siding installation proceeded as scheduled. Vlad, the project lead, was very patient with our questions about daily progress and about why something was being done in a certain way. In all instances, we were satisfied by the explanation and work that was done. The painter that they used was superb. We had the whole house painted after the siding was installed. We were very happy with his work and we would use Igor again for any of our painting needs. After the siding and painting were completed work on our deck began. We were surprised when we realized that the deck measurements did not match the design we'd given them. We pointed this out and after a few back and forths (and much angst on our part) they agreed to follow our design which resulted in a bit of a delay as they had to order materials in order to redo work. Vacek and crew were very responsive to any questions and corrected issues that did arise. Our house looks great and our deck saw a lot of use this summer. We'd definitely work with them again.
The estimator was responsive to my request for a proposal and submitted an estimate that was easily understood by the owner and me.
The craftsmen were all very professional and knowledgable. In all instances, they responded quickly to areas of concerns that I had during the remediation.
I am confident that the home will no longer experience the water penetration problems that have plagued the home for years.
I will be more than happy to use them on future projects of this scope.
Overall it went amazingly good!
