Our concrete porch had been sinking for several years, so we had the porch taken out and a new one poured. When demo'ing the porch, it was discovered that one of the posts was totally rotted away at the base, contributing to the porch roof sinking even more. We had another contractor set up to install the post, as well as some other carpentry work, as soon as the concrete was dry and could support the roof. When we called him to let him know we were ready, he basically blew us off and said he had other jobs.
JD had installed two posts for a neighbor in our area, so we asked for an estimate for our porch posts. His estimate was significantly higher than the first contractor, but what JD proposed was a much nicer design, so we went with him.JD's primary work is finish carpentry work for new home building, but he agreed to take on our small job. JD came out on a Saturday & Sunday to work on our posts. He installed a new base (previous base was under grade), replaced the rotted post, and covered it with a new design. He also moved the second post to center (was off by 3/8 inch), and covered it with the new design.
We are very happy with the finished job that JD did for us. We are now considering having JD work on some inside jobs, i.e., new hand rail on stairway, book cases around the fireplace, crown molding, etc.
We would highly recommend JD. He is very professional, great personality, and does excellent work.
