John Driscoll has always responded quickly - usually coming the same day, even if after normal working hours, to assess the job and provide a quote - and has always done a professional job for a reasonable price. He's friendly, well-mannered, and attentive to keeping his work contained and the job area clean.
After being quoted an outrageous price (around $4,000) for a water heater replacement by a contractor who was on site to do furnace maintenance (but who insisted he had noticed that my water heater needed immediate replacement), I called John for advice. He came that afternoon and gave me a quote to replace the existing water heater with another of similar size and quality for $750. He came the next day and did the job for that price.
I completely trust John. He was recommended by a friend who I can rely upon for good recommendations and did not disappoint. I have passed along his name to many others and would not hesitate to do so in the future.

John has done a number of plumbing jobs for us in the past and always get the job done well, provides good and fair advice. During this visit he also fixed a bath drain plug that was no longer connected to the tub mechanism - no charge for that quick fix.

He also took a look at our water heaters (~12 years old) and recommended keeping them for now.

I chose Driscoll Plumbing after getting another bid that was way over John's Driscoll's bid. John lives nearby and I wanted to use someone local, because a lot of internet companies say they are local but are not. Some of these companies charge by the hour instead of the job. Beware! I've found it is easier to contact and schedule a local company who will bid the job, especially if a problem arises. Also, I wanted the person who did the bid to do the work, not their subcontractor or employee. If there is a problem, the owner/installer takes care of it using and quot;the buck stops hereand quot; approach. I hired Roto Rooter twice for emergencies and their employees are a horrible and dirty.
John gave me a bid and then stuck by that bid. I am puzzled by the reviewer who said she got the price from John AFTER the work was done. John gives a bid. I do think the homeowner would want this bid itemized, and in writing. John gave me an oral bid after I listed the jobs that needed to be done in a e-mail, then I used that bid. Always make sure the bid is written and signed by the installer!
John did exactly the and quot;services listand quot; above. I needed to add the toilet valve (after discovering it was broken during the toilet removal and installation) and I added the 2nd toilet to install and he billed me accordingly. John did not quibble about the extra work even though he had another job to get to. He began the list above on New Year's Eve, because he had called me to cancel the day before when a gas line job ran longer than expected. He worked New Year's Eve morning to make up for missing my appointment, although he had another job after me in the afternoon and, I found out by chatting with him, a party to attend that evening. He willingly finished up the list by installing the toilet valve and adjusting pipes to fit new cabinetry a few days later. I do not believe he charged me for having to play around with the pipes to fit the new cabinetry. He was easy to schedule and if he could not make a certain time, he called.
I'd hire John again. He knows his plumbing and is experienced, quick, and charges by the job.

He has been a lifesaver for our business. We have used him for plumbing issues at our rental facility. He has been very up-front and honest with us. He has come in after hours because he knows that we need things done quickly when we have business coming. He has been more than accommodating as far as working around that schedule. He has given me great advice. He has been our advocate.

John (owner/operator) was very punctual arriving for the estimate, asked some questions, and quoted $400. He was the middle bid (low was $300, high was Ballard Natural Gas -- very friendly and a professional outfit -- but $695? Ouch.) He arrived about 4 hours late for the install itself due to an emergency job, and while I would definitely have appreciated a call earlier than after I called him, it wasn't the end of the world either and really was the only cause for complaint in an otherwise very good experience. He completed the work quickly, cleaned up completely, relit the pilot light, and stopped to take a look at some other plumbing work I was doing and gave me some good advice. Nice guy, good work, reasonable price, and he sent me a $5 Starbucks card as a thank you which was a nice touch. Overall great experience, I'd definitely hire him again.

Price charged was highway robbery. John Driscoll (the owner) arrived with an assistant. The assistant went to the basement to turn off the water, while John got a part out of his truck. They put the new nipple on (using the PVC adhesive solution), and then took longer to write up the work than to actually do it. They then charged $400 plus tax for the job (I was visibly angry, but he said if I wanted to challenge him, go ahead, that was the price). It seemed that he had planned to do a big job, and was disappointed that it was so small. I had always been clear about exactly what the work was and had talked to him directly. I do know they drove a long way to do the work (from North Bend or Snoqualmie) but that's their problem, not mine. They're the ones who listed a Seattle phone number.
