Well here it is a few months later and we can't access the crawl space and the floors are very unevenly spaced. Wrote to the contractor and have yet to hear from him, this was the biggest part of the project and it looks like crap. Very disappointed in Angie's list and the contractors so far. Update in response to company's response:"I see the company wrote a rebuttal on my complaint, however none of what he is stating is true and are all lies, I told him 1 week as I have asthma and I wanted the work done while I WAS GONE. WE never TOLD HIM IT WAS A "floating FLOOR" ONLY THAT IT WAS ENGINEERED BAMBOO, NOTHING WAS MENTION TO US ABOUT THE CRAWL SPACE TRIM AT ANY TIME WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT WE WOULD NEED TO REMOVE THE MOLDING TO ACCESS IT THAT IS WHY THEY DID NOT NAIL IT IN. this COMPANY IS FULL OF UNTRUTHS My house sitter had an issue with her phone,He had both my cell and my email numbers while I was gone and was able to reach me at all time, however he only called once to tell me he could not get a hold of my house sitter. however she did tell me they were only there one day so how can he state he said to me two weeks, that is untrue. And I did try many times to contact him after the work was done to inform him of the issues and to come back to paint and finish the floors he did not complete., however when I threaten to go to the BBB is when he finally wrote me back two works "Who?s this" what a liar he is. If you want the truth read what I wrote, not what he is rebutting because I asked for a partial refund to cover having another person do his shoddy work and get it done correctly, now it looks beautiful and it was not done by Done to specs."

"I am sorry that customer is not happy with the outcome. I will refute some of the things they have listed as complaints. When I was told they wanted to proceed with our company there was no discussion that the project would be done in one weeks time and I certainly did not agree to that. In all it lasted about 2 weeks. The first day we showed up to work the homeowner was out of town and had someone at the house to look after things. The person who was supposed to be there was not and the phone number we were given stated that the number was not accepting calls at this time. We completed everything that was asked of us. They provided much of the materials that were needed for the project and some were not provided. They provided one gallon of paint which I was not sure was going to be enough and did paint the whole room, but the lighting was terrible and was unable to see the finish. I did tell them that if they got another gallon of paint and additional was needed we would take care of it. The flooring was provided as well and we were told it was a floating floor. We double checked with the place they purchased it from because we weren't sure if it really should be a floating floor because it didn't seem to interlock very well. We were told by lumber liquidators that it was suitable to be installed as a floating floor, so we proceeded to install that way. It does not surprise me that the joints have come apart as I believe it is a substandard product. The access to the crawlspace was very tight when we pulled it up to do the flooring work and thus when it was put back in it was very tight as well. There was no trim piece to match the flooring that had been purchased so we were unable to give the access panel a finished look as you can see from the photos. I notified her of this and told her that she would need a finish trim and would probably want a handle or something to be able to remove the panel as there is now. We did this work in September and October and I never heard anything from the client in any form until January when the customer claims she had tried contacting me numerous time. Even in January when I did hear something it was in text messages in which they were written so poorly I couldn't even distinguish who was contacting me or what the problem was. The client at the time had recently had some medical issues and had made it known she has a lot of problems with her short term memory."

How'd it go? Absolutely wonderful. This was a very difficult journey for us, as our mom passed suddenly. In this regard, we so appreciated the extra care Jacob and Ryan provided in absolutely everything they did for us. Done to Spec offers such a wide variety of services WITH GREAT SKILL AND EXPERTISE. Thus, I didn't have to call a multiple of different people to help. Jacob and Ryan understood our mission in wanting this home to be fixed up very nicely, as we wanted to create a special place for the next loving family who would be living here. As this is Jacob's and Ryan's personal business, they did truly care about us - always checking to ensure everything was done as we wished. Done to Spec has great creativity in providing cost-effective solutions. This home is 40 years old. For each thing we discovered that needed some work or "fixing", Jacob and Ryan found the best way - always with safety and high quality in mind. In summary, our experience with Done to Spec was a journey of interconnected hearts - working together to make a special home even more beautiful - a special place to raise a family. In the past, I have worked with a variety of similar companies. None, however, provided such special care to our needs and offered such extensive, creative, and high quality services. Thank you, Jacob and Ryan and the Done to Spec team. We'll be seeing you in the future for some fun projects in our home.

Eddie showed up on time as promised. We reviewed the list and discussed how it made sense to complete punch list. He was very helpful in making decisions on items. Eddie completed the expected list as well as more within the timeframe agreed upon. Even as he ran into a couple of snags, he diligently pressed forward to get the items done. He was helpful in coaching me on how to complete a couple of other issues in the condo. I will definitely hire this firm again and hope to work with Eddie on other projects.

Eddie came 2 times a couple weeks apart to fit our projects into their busy schedule and ours. He first dealt with re-attaching the sagging gutter that was a concern since the rainy season had started. He used this appointment to also gathered info about adding an electrical outlet, offering suggestions to meet our needs. Eddie was then scheduled at our convenience to install the outlet. He was prompt, pleasant, and completed the installation in short order. When asked if he could also install a window blind that was not part of the plan, he did so very willingly. All the work was accurate and clean-up was excellent. We appreciated the professionalism and would highly recommend Done to Spec to our family, friends, neighbors.

The guys who were in the house doing the work were very friendly. We liked them a lot and they loved our kids and our dog. The workers were conscientious of saving materials, which saved us money in material costs. One worker was very, very slow and the other worker did not do quality work. I hate to even put this in the review because they were so darn nice! The owner did adjust our invoice pricing and did send the workers out to fix some of the mistakes they made (painting the backsplashes the wrong color, etc.) However, the work was never completed satisfactorily and we got to the point where we didn't want any of them fixing or touching anything. The owner did adjust our pricing and again offered to come fix the issues. If you hire them, make sure you DO NOT pay them by the hour. Get pricing up front for the entire project. I would also insist that the owner come out and check the progress and approve the job at completion. Again, they are all really nice and they tried to do the right thing, they just aren't very skilled and they are slow.

Jacob, Ryan, Paul, and Ruhi are incredible professionals. On-time, very reasonably priced, and flexible in working with multiple trades. They tackled the complex electrical, structural, and plumbing and adjusted to a variety of unforeseen conditions once we opened the ceiling and walls. Change orders were easy and they kept the project moving through the schedule.
The cabinet manufacturer required some adjustments to receptacles and DTS was on the spot to make the changes and keep to the schedule. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. We tackled a complete kitchen and powder room remodel including refinishing all the floors on the first level. They provided advice and counsel and even coached us through some of the tiling. Great team - very knowledgeable and skilled at their craft...!

Done to Spec had a competitive estimate compared to several other contractors we researched. The work was done well and overall we're very happy with the results, especially the tile work. They went out of their way to make sure the stairs were done correctly and that the wood matched up well to the tile on the landing. The project went more slowly than expected, however, since they're a pretty small outfit, and this was a pretty large project. Also, communication seemed more sporadic over time, and we had a little surprise charge near the end of the project. The charge was justified, just not well communicated. Overall though, we can highly recommend Done To Spec, and would hire them again.
