The owner of A Number One Cleaning Service was hired by my son to clean my house. It was not unkempt or dirty; I just needed basic cleaning. The two individuals were at my house approximately 3 hours, and in that time, both of them took 2 or 3 smoke breaks. I specifically requested that the stair rail be cleaned and pointed out a few other items and told them, "if you see something that needs cleaned, clean it. You are professionals and know what needs done." Immediately after the two left, I inspected their cleaning and found it to be inferior, so I took photos. The stair rail had not been cleaned, the spare bedroom had not been dusted and around the toilet seats were not clean, to name a few items. I sent the owner an email with the list of items, photos and requested that she refund a portion of the payment to my son. I contacted my son and told him not to hire this company again, and I asked what he had been charged. He told me that he had been charged $230.00. The owner responded that she "stood behind her work" and accused a friend who was washing my windows of "coming behind them and messing things up that they cleaned." The owner also accused my friend of locking herself in my bathroom for 20 minutes 'after' they cleaned, which was untrue. I was the one who used the restroom, but at that time, they were nowhere near finished cleaning. The owner made the following remark about my friend whom I have known for 12 years: "I don't know how well you know her or if she is disabled but she was displaying odd behavior that of which both my colleague and I agreed that seemed as if she was on meth." This remark was totally way out of line, uncalled for and absolutely untrue! I needed my house to be ready for a real estate showing, so there was NO way the work would have been "messed up." Because the owner refused to refund some of the money to my son for the inferior work, I told her that I planned to give an unfavorable review and she stated, "go ahead." In no way, even if the work had been superior, should it cost $77 an hour for two people; therefore, I do not recommend A Number One Cleaning Service.
