ULTIMATE FLOOR DESIGN

The experience was TERRIBLE. It is hard to even know where to start. The sales rep was personable and helpful initially and is the reason we went with them, but when it went to installation then the trouble began. They never showed up on time for any of the appointments on time. One day I had taken off from work to be there, they never showed up and when I called to check in, they kept telling me they would be right there and never came, hence I waited around all day for nothing and had to reschedule. They offered no apologies or concession for their scheduling issue. They ordered the wrong product, even though what we signed had the right product listed. The installers did not speak English very well and dismissed the concerns we had that it was not correct continuing to install. The product did not fit together well and they created this makeshift way to install it which left grooves in between the boards on our hardwood instead of them fitting properly together. When we called the office to express our dissatisfaction and ask to have it fixed the office was rude and put off actually dealing with us until we had made ~8 phone calls to them over a month period. Then when they finally agreed to fix it, the installers did not show up for 3 appointments. We finally gave up as we just could not waste any more time trying to deal with these folks, they had no interest in making it right as far as they were concerned the floor got installed even though it was completely wrong and shoddy work. We hired a new company to completely sand, replace the misinstalled boards and refinish the entire area. So it took us $10K to get a job that should have been $5K done and many months of upset and annoyance. The second company was terrific and we got them via recommendation of some friends at work.

Project went very well, on time and no surprises for additional costs.

John came to our house and was very helpful in choosing a carpet, as well as advising us in overseeing the work done by the subcontractor installers. The installers were very conscientious and did good work. They showed up one day after the Dec '06 windstorm to see if they could do more work. Overall, we are very pleased with the quality of the carpet and installation. For the widest selection of carpet you have to visit the showroom so if you want something out of the ordinary it pays to travel to Renton.

The installer was a punk. He completely scratched the 100 year old original Craftsman trim all the way around the room. It had to be sanded and completely re-finished. It cost more than the overpriced carpet installation itself. When I showed him what he did he said "go ahead and call the office I don't really care." PUNK!
