The Home Detective

Reid was fantastic. He answered all my questions during and immediately following the inspection. He was responsive to questions and adjustments after the inspection as well. His report was thorough and his suggestions for prioritizing critical repairs vs. things to do over time has been super helpful as I've started work on my "fixer upper". I highly recommend The Home Detective.

Reid was very thorough, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful throughout the inspection. He was able to make an appointment with us on fairly short notice and on a Sunday, and he spent 4 hours with us at the house. He identified many issues that we needed to consider, both inside and outside the house. He helped us understand some of the potential remediations and next steps we should explore, and he was able and willing to give us a rough sense of potential costs so we could get an idea of what we were getting into with the house. He also provided the written report to us within about 24 hours, and it was very thorough, 36 pages, with detailed descriptions, observations, and pictures. We ended up with a very long list of issues to address, but I feel confident that we know what we'll be facing with the house. All in all, we were extremely satisfied with The Home Detective and would highly recommend Reid's services.

Reid Guthrie is comprehensive, detailed and professional. When buying real estate, NEW or PRE-OWNED, no one, in my opinion, should ever do so without a complete inspection report, created by a licensed, bonded and insured home inspector. Reid is a top to bottom home inspector and knows what to look for when representing a home buyer. He also does a great job counseling the buyer as to the important and not so important items that arise in a building inspection. You have many choices when the time comes for you to hire a building inspector. There are many good inspectors in our market. The Home Detective is one of the "good" ones. I trust him and therefore have always felt comfortable referring The Home Detective to our home buying clients.

The bank covered the charged. Their services were as advertised. It wasn't unexpected, so it was what it was. There wasn't anything that we disliked per say. The price was fair. We will not use them again.

He did an excellent job. He spent about 4 hours checking the house from the top of the roof, all they way to the bottom. He was extremely thorough and told me to expect a 40 page report by tomorrow - January 27th.

Reid came out and did a very thorough inspection of a home I was planning to purchase. He examined every room, tested all the appliances, and functionality of all systems. He basically inspected every inch of the house inside and out including the attic and crawl space. He provided both a summary report explaining his findings and recommendations for me to use as a negotiating tool with the seller as well as a detailed report for me to use for planning and maintenance in the future. I was very happy with his work and have already recommended him to a family member purchasing a home.

It was very good. He was friendly and he seemed to do a thorough job. He spent three of four hours with me and he took his time to explain everything. He got the write up to me quickly.

Reid came right on time, inspected the home thoroughly, pointing out specific items as he went and explaining how the house was built/modified over time. He had his laptop and was creating his report as he went. He was able to answer all of our questions, priced his services very fairly and gave us the comprehensive report within a day.
