Would recommend Ric because he was able to refinance a condo I own as rental property. Utilizing the HARP loan program, I shaved a full point off my interest rate. He also worked to make things right when an error was made with the paperwork, and made sure I was happy. prompt and responsive.

OK people, Buckle Up! This review may be like none other!
I was on a search for a Reverse Mortgage this year. Had contacted a few out of state lenders but thought ? it?d be great to find someone local. That?s when I remembered from many years back, the radio ads of Kiel Mortgage. I knew they were highly reputable, respected and trustworthy. Contacted Kiel and, Laura Kiel called me right back. She got all my info and sent me out a quote. I was a little bit iffy about it. The next step in this complex loan, which is FHA HUD insured, is to have a counseling session, which I did. The counselor liked a quote from another lender. I let Laura know right away and to my surprise, she said she agreed with the counselor that the competitive quote was so good that I should go with it. I was shocked she would actually recommend me to go to a competitor!! She then called me back in about an hour and said ? I?ve got a quote for you coming out next week that will match or beat the other company?s offer?. (Which it did and is now being offered to Laura?s other customers!!) YAY I said and from then on was sold on working with Laura and Kiel, the local company I was hoping for! I couldn?t believe that she was so fast and it showed how much she truly looks out for and cares for every customer. Through the loan process I came to know how much Kiel truly lives up to the reputation they have earned and deserve. It became very obvious to me that they work very hard to do the best for each customer! Kiel knows their business inside out and backwards and Laura Kiel is a true specialist in Reverse Mortgages!! She IS the EXPERT in that regard as I learned through this process!!

Being complete novices in the world of reverse mortgages we really appreciated the fact that Laura Kiel took our hands and walked us through everything step by step. We had the impression that we were the only customers that she had to help. No matter when we called her, after hours, weekends etc. she either answered or called us right back. Continual communication made us feel very much at ease. Even after everything was complete I called Laura with a question and my question was answered immediately. This was a complicated procedure with lots of details but Laura took the weight off of our shoulders. If you are thinking about a reverse mortgage make sure you check with Laura Kiel.

The whole process went very well. Nancy was very easy to work with and was very efficient. There is a lot of paperwork to turn in, however, that is going to be true when applying for a home loan regardless of whom you choose. Their interest rate was better than all of the other mortgage companies that I received quotes from and their closing costs were very reasonable. I would choose this company and Nancy again if I had to get another home loan.

As a first time home buyer, I was nervous and overwhelmed about the entire home buying process. My first call was to Kiel Mortgage and it proved to be a superior choice in every way. My loan officer was very personable and engaging, and worked with me to identify the best options for a loan, made sure I understood everything along the way, and was available and responsive to questions at practically any time of day. She also provided a couple of outstanding real estate agent referrals for me to choose from, and between my loan officer and my agent, the whole process was more than just smooth -- it was actually FUN! And ultimately they got me into a home that I love, at a price I'm happy with, and on a loan that was the best in the industry. I couldn't be happier with my decision to work with Kiel Mortgage, and will recommend them to anyone I know who's buying or refinancing a home.

Selected Kiel Mortgage after speaking with four other providers and met Laura Kiel.
Laura was the only individual that wanted to, right atthe start, discuss what our objectives were and then to;
-discuss in detail the pros and cons of each alternative that was available to us,
-provided detailed cost (truth in lending) estimates of each alternative, and
-coordinate and birddog all the associated activities (counseling, application, appraisal, escrow, closing, etc.).
The two most important items for us were; one, we got what we expected to get, and two, there were no surprises. And, this was accomplished in a professional and very pleasant manner.

We had an excellent mortgage refinance using Kiel. We worked directly with Laura, and she was awesome, knowledgeable, tireless, and great to work with. We've now used Kiel for three refinances plus our original mortgage on the house, and they have been great each time. We highly recommend them to everyone we talk to, and will continue to use them in the future.

This is the second time I have worked with Nancy Watt as my loan officer. The first time was in August 2009 and the second time was March of 2013. The first loan was an initial loan to buy a home, the second time was to refinance the loan to a lower rate.
In both cases the service was outstanding!! All questions were answered, different loan options were offered and explained.
Paperwork was processed quickly and with full explanation. They were happy I read every page!
Nancy was totally responsive to phone and e mail inquires and kept me fully informed each step of the process.

Excellent! It took very little time. She worked with me via fax and email which really helped me because of my busy schedule. She responded to email immediately. She kept on top of everything and worked h****** her end to make the work less for me! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. And the title company her company works with is A-1 as well!

Nicole always kept us up to date with the latest information and presented us with all the options. Yet she never pushed. I was unable to take time off from work (US Postal Service) but Kiel (Bernard Bourgeois) send everything we needed by e-mail. I could print, sign, then scan and e-mail back in the evening. The next day I would get a confirmation v-mail and e-mail of receipt and what would be the next step and estimated date. The focus was on what we wanted and comparison of options. Never any pressure or deadlines. Bernard offered to meet after my long work day if I wanted but I felt very comfortable with doing everything by e-mail. He tried to arrange the escrow signing for an off-day (3 day lead time) but the escrow company was not able to complete their papers in time. Bernard then arranged a late evening signing at the title company two nights later. Of my four mortgages, this was the easiest of all. We will use Kiel again for any future mortgage needs.

We've wanted to refinance our home for the past year and I've tried working with about four other mortgage companies to only have them eventually not call us back (out situation is not an easy one for a mortgage company). To Doug's credit, he stuck with us, even though I lost my job in the middle and he had to start over again.
Most mortgage agreements now are done mostly on line and through the phone. Even the title company representative mentioned that now a days you often don't even meet with your mortgage representative. But in our case Doug came to our house to work through things when we really needed it.

I began to investigate refinancing our home when I received a teaser in the mail from a different company. I actually called the other company and talked with a loan officer. When it got to the point of giving that company my private information I began to feel uneasy. To be fair to the other company, who I am not naming, they may have been perfectly legit, but at that point I made the decision to use Kiel whom I had used once before!
The whole process with Kiel was painless and quick. The loan officer was very attentive during the process of obtaining information and starting the processing of the loan application. The only criticism I could offer was that I felt that once I got into the stage of the game where the process was waiting on underwriting, appraisal, and those types of processes, the loan officer was available if I initiated the contact, but was not as quick to start up a conversation.
The actual refinance was successful and we were able to lower our interest rate substantially. Due to the decrease in interest rate we were also able to take the opportunity to decrease our loan from a 30 year fixed to a 15 year fixed loan making it possible to retire our mortgage much earlier than before!
Overall I would rate Kiel Mortgage excellent and would highly recommend them!

Based on Better Business Bureau and Angie's List reviews, we contacted 3 mortgage companies & Kiel's response to our inquiry was distinctive over the others--and had the best rate. We had the good fortune to have Doug Fiess assigned to our loan application. Going into this re-fi, we were more than a little nervous & were prepared for a long, drawn-out ordeal. It turned out to be nothing like we'd imagined! Everything was done on line (and a few phone calls) except for the final signing of the papers, for which a notary was sent to our house. Along the way, I had several questions, which Doug patiently answered in a thorough, professional, and understandable way. Not only was every aspect handled in a respectful and timely manner, things seemed to progress ahead of schedule and the day the loan closed was the day the money was in our account. A process we were dreading turned out to be easy and pleasant, thanks to Doug.
We would not hesitate to call Doug again if the need arises for us or anyone else--we are completely satisfied with the excellent service we received.

The overall experience went very well. Even though I don?t have stellar credit, I was able to bring my rate down from the 6?s to the 4?s. That saved us about $1,000/month. I?m happy with their services and I would recommend him. We're refinancing our rental home soon and this will be the company that we'll use.

In case you only want to spend a few seconds reading each review, in short, Kiel Mortgage was amazing to work with, and we'd use them again in a heartbeat. From the first day we called, Nicole was friendly, professional, and responsive. We didn't shop around too much, but their loan origination fees seemed comparable to our original lender, while their rates were top notch. The process went smoothly, and everything except the signing was done electronically, which was incredibly convenient. Our refinance was completed smoothly, and we would definitely recommend Kiel. If you've heard the Kiel Mortgage commercials on the radio, you might be skeptical. "They must be getting paid to do these spots," or "Their story is too good to be true." We were skeptical at first, too, but (and this is going to sound really cliche!) Kiel really is "big enough to the job, small enough to care!" Four thumbs up.

I talked with Terina several times and she was right on top of everything. I received emails for the important documents and printed them off to send her way. I had the option of signing on line but my computer was fussy and I wasn't able to access them. What I liked is that I didn't even have to go into the office for all the paper work. As far as price, I don't really know because I didn't shop around. I have heard of Kiel Mortgage on a trustworthy radio station so I was really leaning on that. Also, years ago in our last home I did call Kiel Mortgage do ask if we should re-fi and they said it wouldn't be worth it b/c I wasn't going down that much in the new interest rate. So I respected them for being so honest and told myself I would always remember them. Finally, when it was time to lock in, it was on a Friday. The rates were REALLY good at 4.65% but I REALLY wanted to get down to a 4.5% (a whole 1% drop from what we had). Terina said I could buy down the rate for an additional $800 but we didn't want to spend any more $. She was very upfront and not pushy and said historically rates are slightly lower on Mondays and Tuesdays and it has been better to lock in on those days (not always but often). So she said we could wait until Monday and see what the rates would be. Of course she reminded me of the risk that they could go up and not down. But she added that they have been back and forth so much by .125% up/down that if it did go up a little, it would probably go down again. We decided to take the chance. On Monday morning at 8:33 a.m. she called me first thing to ask if I wanted to lock in at 4.5% without any additional costs. I said YES! Just GREAT to know that she was honest in her advice and things worked out in our favor. She could have been pushy on Friday but she understood our desires and laid out all the options with out trying to scare us one way or another. It paid off!

James is very knowledgeable about the many options available to consumers, whether it is securing their initial mortgage or refinancing their existing mortgage. He is quick to respond to phone calls with any questions that you may have. Her personally brought me paperwork, and went above and beyond to get a signing agent to my house (I live on Bainbridge Island and it is an issue getting some companies over here that are not based on the island). Recommended James to my brother-in-law, who did end up using him and liked him.
