Heartland Floors

John and his crew did a phenomenal job on our ash floors. Their attention to detail in planning the project as well as the way they left the house when they were finished was impressive. We were especially appreciative of their willingness to take on the extra work [and communication] in handling the installation of our new refrigerator after the floors were finished. This is not the first time we have used Heartland and I continue to be impressed with the care that they take in each job. They really treated our home like their own.

The result far exceeded our expectations and is as close to perfection as one can achieve. The work is absolutely beautiful and the process was efficient with extremely high attention to detail. John and his partner Joe are veterans within their trade and they masterfully execute all the work themselves. They are deeply knowledgeable about wood flooring and finishing and were able to diagnosis and correct existing problems (such as mis-matched wood species and unlevel floor transitions) in our quirky old home . We have received compliments on the gleaming floors and stairs from every person who has been in our home since Heartland finished the job. Before starting any work, John and Joe carefully taped off our entire house, moved and covered appliances. They prepared and protected our home as though it were one of their own which we greatly appreciated. There was no damage, mess or dust left behind when the work was complete. Throughout the process, John was very communicative in answering our questions quickly and comprehensively as well as keeping us informed with daily progress updates. The estimate was very fair especially for the highest level of quality they deliver. The job stayed on track and within budget. John and Joe are an absolute pleasure to work with and demonstrate the best type of work ethic you could hope for. We will definitely hire them again if the need arises and recommend them with total confidence.

John and his team did a wonderful job installing pre-finished hardwood in our upstairs area. John called back promptly on the initial call and kept us informed during the entire process. They took the time to protect all of the area with plastic and cleaned up at the end of the job.

We arranged for the work to be done while we were out of town.  We moved the furniture out of the kitchen and dining rooms except for the refrigerator.  John came in with his crew and moved the refrigerator, completing the entire job in three days.  This left 8 days for the floor to cure.  This included contacting us about the floor vents with a recommendation for changing them from metal to oak.  The results are wonderful.  The sanding process produced a lot of dust.  John sealed doorways, cupboards and vents with plastic and tape to protect those areas.  He sent photos by text to us of his progress as it happened so we were totally in the loop.

Refinished existing oak hardwoods (approx 300 sf) and prepped new unfinished oak hardwood (adjacent room approx 250 sf), then applied new clear Swedish type finish. The existing floor (20+ yrs old) came out beautiful and could not be distinguished from the new wood. Both wife and I were VERY pleased with the work. He worked thru the holidays, started when he said he would, gave frequent updates, and finished when he said he would. Very reliable, very professional; will probably use him again.

Heartland could have told us anything to get our money and we wouldn't have known the difference. But the owner (his name escapes me) walked in the door and told us our floors were in great condition and had the best type of surface - that we would probably never have to refinish them! I was very impressed with his honesty and willingness to make a house call without any promise of service.

They were great and were very flexible. The floors turned out well. Their attention to detail was way higher than my expectation.
