Alice and Lou in the office thoroughly answered my questions about a wasp problem, and their technician who treated the nest was friendly and informative. However, I continued to see wasps a few weeks later, while still within their 30-day warranty period, so I scheduled a retreatment. Because I had a few questions, I called them the day before the appointment, and I was surprised to overhear someone in the office tell Alice that they needed to reschedule. Alice told me that half of their technicians were out sick with COVID, and no one was available for my appointment. On the new appointment day, when I called after no one showed up as scheduled, Lou told me that the technician had called in sick that morning, and that she had just arrived in the office. I've rarely had the displeasure of dealing with such an unreliable business. I didn't reschedule again because they didn't seem interested in honoring their warranty.

Efficient and on-time. The agent spent time to discuss how to find and trap moles, even though the conditions for Green City allow only baiting, not trapping. On basis of these discussions I acquired a mole trap and he showed me possible places to put it.

The whole process involved plugging up all the ways the rodents got in, cleaning up after the rodents (involving removing existing insulation), and then waiting for some time to ensure that the efforts to prevent rodents from getting back into the crawlspace were successful. Once that verification was done, the new insulation could be installed. Makes sense. Only trick was that the appointments set up to install the new insulation unfortunately coincided with the Seattle Winter 2019 Snowpocalypse, so multiple reschedulings needed to be done (since the appointments coincided, unfortunately, with the multiple waves of snowpocalypse!). However, some very impressive efforts to get in and get the work done regardless of the snow were made, as preparations were made ahead of the scheduled date by Green City to have special equipment to deal with the snow, people's schedules figured out, etc., to make it work (so that we could have insulation during the worst of the snow.) In spite of this, there were some acts of god that necessitated further rescheduling. At the next opportunity everything was installed promptly and easily. The crawlspace access is outdoors, so they came in the morning, I greeted them, went to work, and they finished and cleaned up when they were done while I was still at work - easy peasy. They even came by later for a follow up visit to perfect the insulation installation.
Response from Green City Pest Control
"Thank you for your review and walking through the process of getting the rats out of the crawlspace. And thank you for your patience with the snow. Thought we could beat it, but Mother Nature had some other plans for us in the end."

My mason told me that there was evidence of bats on our chimney, and that the bats needed to be humanely excluded before the chimney could be rebuilt. Green Cith Pest Control sent tjree people to do the job. However, when they got here, they found no evidence of bats, and they recommended that instead of bothering with $700 of potentially unnecessary work, that I have them back later in the unlikely event that the masons do discover bats. I did have to pay the $95 fee for the assessment, but they saved me $600 with their honesty. They could easily have proceeded with the work and scammed me, but they didn’t. I’m thrilled with their professionalism and will rehire them again should I ever need their services.

Service to date (two visits) has been flawless. Techs have been patient and informative. I was very concerned about how their service might impact pets and children, and they have demonstrated great care to address my concerns. We’ve had a marked decline in the number of spiders we are finding in the house.

Signed up for a 3 week plan to rid my property of Moles for $380. Technician came on time each of the 3 weeks. However, moles still active. I called this morning and discussed the situation with the owner. He explained that it's sometimes difficult to get rid of the moles. I asked for them to continue baiting my yard, as the moles are still there. His response was that, "we're just too busy right now." I told him that I was a current customer and that I'd like them to continue baiting each week until the moles are gone. He then told me I'd have to sign up for another 3 week round of baiting at $380. When I signed up for the baiting program, Lavonne told me that they would continue to bait for $95 per week if the 3 week program didn't work out so I wouldn't have to do the whole costly program. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE and poor customer service. Never again.
Response from Green City Pest Control
"Our mole baiting program is a 3 week program with weekly visits. There are some cases where we are seeing the results take place and maybe an additional visit would be helpful. But when there is still significant mole activity in the yard then we have to go back to an additional 3 more weeks. Doing another weekly treatment would not have given you the results that you would have wanted and just left you more frustrated. Baiting for moles can be very challenging depending on the homeowner's individual yard. With our 3 week baiting system we get the desired results 95% of the time. Those few times it doesn't work on the first 3 weeks is usually due to extremely heavy activity and/or rodents also using the mole tunnels and eating the bait. Unfortunately you had a unique situation."

Green City has been excellent to work with. Scott, the owner, is hands-on and very knowledgable and helpful, as is his entire office and field staff. We recommend them without reservation.

This was a very difficult area to access and they did a great job of removing the existing contaminated insulation, cleaning the area and installing clean insulation. They were willing to expedite the schedule to do the job before our grandchildren arrived to stay with us for a few months. We were very satisfied.

We needed the work done quickly as the house had been sold pending the pest inspection. They did the inspection but came up with some expensive things such as suggesting that we pay $5000 for new vapor barrier under the entire house (the existing barrier was less than 5 years old) and they wanted to remove extensive debris under the house. The only debris were two small blocks of wood holding up a pipe which they made a big deal out of. (I removed them myself) They supposedly found a pest 'structure' but I went to look at this 'structure' and it was old dryer lint which had attached to some bits of wire. Had some issues with quotes that did not match previous quotes and when I asked about it, they said that the particular procedure required them to go back under the house to spray for an extra $240. However when the technician arrived, he told me he did not need to go under the house. I had to call them many times to get an appointment and when the technician finally did get there, he couldn't fit through the crawl space door to get under the house and we had to get another appointment set up for another tech. If you have the time, get competitive bids as I really felt that they were searching for expensive issues to fix that were just not there. Bottom line it got done but what a cluster.
Response from Green City Pest Control
"Client originally called for a WDI (Wood Destroying Insect) inspection for the sale of the home. During the inspection it was found in the crawlspace that there was Moisture Ant activity, Carpenter Ant activity, and significant rodent activity. A discount was given on the cost for the treatment because of the previous WDI inspection and the ant treatment could take care of both types of ants. Drilling into the wall void from the outside is the standard treatment for those ants (spraying inside the crawlspace is usually not needed and could lead to a misapplication of the product). Different prices were given, including replacing the vapor barrier and insulation, to give options for whatever the client wanted to do for sale of the home. It does look like we had to resend out another technician due to the tightness of the crawlspace, but that wouldn't normally be an issue with most home. We apologize for any confusion and having to resend out another technician."

After using various pest control companies over the years, my wife and I have now had the pleasure and opportunity to do business with Scott and his ultra-professional staff at Green City Pest Control (GCPC). Formerly we had contracted another company to treat for a one off issue; ants outside the home. Now with GCPC’s annual plan, we receive whole home service from the crawl to the attic, as well as the outside. All of this for about the same cost as we had with the other company only treating for the ants. However, it is not just about the cost, as the service is the best we have ever had with any company by far. Scott sent us his tech David who went over the house top to bottom with us present and took the time to explain what he was looking for and how we could mitigate any potential issues he found. He did find a couple minor issues which he recommends we have repaired, and provided estimates for them, but was not a ‘pushy’ sales person. He just recommended to keep it on our radar and repair when we were ready. I could continue to go on at length, but I’m sure you get the idea by now; go with Green City Pest Control!

The most useless $300 I have spent as a homeowner. All they did was put a couple of bait boxes in the yard (not even in strategically useful places) and tell me to cut down my trees — which my arborist called simply an excuse for non-performance. I wonder if these guys actually get rid of rodents anywhere. I had to buy traps and do it myself.
Response from Green City Pest Control
"We have doing rodent control for almost 30 years. But I guess if your Arborist says that we don't know what we are doing ... then I can't argue with that. If your trees are within 3 to 4 feet of the roofline, the roof rats will use the trees to access the roof and then into the attic. First step is to cut back the vegetation and allow the bait stations a chance to work (which you asked for us to remove early)."

I hired Green City Pest Control and took advantage of their 90 day guarantee. I waited to write this review because I wanted to make sure they were successful and it wasn't a short term fix. The technician, I believe his name was Nate arrived on time, carefully examined the exterior of my home and zeroed in on one side of the house. He laid traps inside and out, sealed the tiny gaps in the siding with metal mesh, trapped and removed the mice inside. Have been mice free ever since. Will use Green City again if I ever have the need.

Response from Green City Pest Control
"Sorry that you were not happy with the service. You signed up for the whole year bi-monthly program that covers all general pests. While the initial concern was the ants, when I arrived (I'm the owner) the first time we could not verify that there was any ants and/or what type there could be. The treatment for moisture ants would have required drilling into the wall void and before doing that treatment we really need to confirm that it is an issue. Reviewing our notes, we did make some treatments for insects and ants through the course of the year. Regular annual program is over $655, you received the 7 visits for about $450. When I went into your crawlspace and found rats were in the insulation that became a big issue from a pest management perspective. Allowing rats inside your crawlspace is not a small issue as they will continue to do damage and potentially can destroy wiring and plumbing. Cost for sealing the entry points was just a little over $1000 if you had wanted to chosen that option. Doing a complete cleanout and removing all the damaged debris plus sealing was closer to the $3000."

Representatives were courteous, respectful, and explained what they were doing in detail. The treatment is going well and I am no longer fighting for counterspace with ants or floorspace with fleas. I expect the yearly contract will go just as well. I downgraded the responsiveness to a B due to communication issues to start that were resolved.
