Service has yet to be completed. They advertise installment of DVD machines (in-house) but every time I call their store number, I am left on hold and then disconnected shortly after. The service has gone way down from what I remember years ago.

Lessons learned: 1) Don't buy from Fry's unless you really need to. 2) If you are going to buy from Fry's, don't by HP 3) If you are going to violate the previous 2 rules, don't get the warranty. 4) Consider a Dell; my replacement laptop that I bought from them comes with a (limited) warranty that includes keyboard-liquid damage. What happend: A few years back, I bought a HP laptop from Fry's. It had the features I wanted and was well rated on CNET. Fry's was the only local supplier that had it in stock. The price was slightly higher, and we dickered. I normally don't get the extended warranty, but as part of the negotiation, I bought it. About 1.5 years later, the graphics on the laptop died. I looked, and found it was still under warranty. I thought this was my lucky day. Boy, was I wrong. I took in the laptop, waiting in line, when they finally get to me. They take out the battery, and hook it up to one of their supplies. Yes, the graphics are still dead. So the guy starts looking over it with a fine tooth comb, and I eventually figure out he's trying to void the warranty. Sure enough, he sees a very small amount of dried residue/liquid lines under the keyboard (which I don't think is above normal wear and tear by the way), and he says they aren't going to fix it: warranty doesn't cover liquid damage. I argue that just because there is a minute trace of liquid under the keyboard doesn't mean it was damaged. He says it doesn't matter; HP will want to be paid to fix it. I said I don't care, the warranty is with Fry's and not HP. He says if HP charges for the repair, we will charge you. Of course, by now, I'm pretty angry. They say the minimum cost will be $500, almost the cost of a whole cheap laptop. So I say fine, give me my battery and let me get out of here. They can't find it. First they say it's my own fault; I'm the one that lost track of it on the counter. I tell them I never take the battery out, so it's their fault. I then spend a 1/2 hour waiting for them to look at their security cameras; it turns out that one of their other customers took it. They want me to stick around until they can (hopefully) contact this customer and get it back for me. I'm thinking this could take an hour or 2 longer, so I say no, GIVE ME A LAPTOP BATTERY NOW! They do, and I leave.

The purchase process went okay. I wish I had known a little more about it and gotten the 1080i instead of the 720i we purchased. The TV is good for what it is, but I wish they had told me a little more about it. The sales associates treated me okay. They sent a man out to install it, which was sort of weird. The main installer had a couple of workers with him. The head man talked to them like they were lesser employees. I felt bad for them. It took two days to install it and hook up everything. They eventually got it working, but I felt like the installer was not a very personable guy.

The experience went well. The salesman seemed to be very knowledgeable about all of their products. I asked the salesman about their brand of computer, and he explained it further. I decided to purchase it; it's been a good computer.

Fry's Electronics has great prices and they have a wide selection of appliances. Their discounted prices is the reason that we continue to go back.

They are a "geek" store. They have lots of computer- and electronic-related items. They have parts to build your own computer. We have had some issues with them in the past. We bought our daughter a laptop there. She spilled something on the computer and the video card went out. They said that the extended warranty we paid for didn't cover that.

The experience went fine. Like all department stores, if you can find somebody to help you, then you buy it and are gone. I prefer to go somewhere where you get customer service and a good price, that is why I gave them a D. They are just another department store.

It took a while to explain to them what was going on and what was needed. I was not very happy with the service, but I ve encountered similar gaps in customer service in other repair places. The experience was average, but it could have been much better.

Terrible. One of the repairs took 4 months(!). They gave me a loaner but when looking at the paperwork and contacting the manufacturer directly (Sony) it appears the actual repair work was sent out to sony and only took 10 days yet Fry's took 4 months to return the computer. When I told them I thought this was unreasonable and that it was unacceptable to hold on to my computer for four months as the service contract wound down, they offered no soulution.

I WAITED FOR THE FIRST DELIVERY WHICH ONLY CAME WITH THE DRYER. EXCHANGED WASHER OUT AND RESCHEDULED FOR THE DELIVERY OF NEW WASHER. THE SECOND DELIVERY HAD THE NEW WASHER, BUT WITH BROKEN KNOBS. THEY RAN BACK TO THE STORE AND DELIVERED THE FLOOR MODEL UNTIL MY NEW WASHER FINALLY CAME IN.

FRY'S ELECTRONICS HAS A WIDE SELECTION OF COMPUTERS, COMPUTER ACCESSORIES AND PERIPHERALS, AND SOFTWARE; APPLIANCES; CAR AUDIO; HOME THEATER AND AUDIO GEAR; CAMERAS; AND OTHER ITEMS. THE STORE IS WELL LAID OUT, BUT THE SERVICE FROM THE STAFF VARIES FROM ACCEPTABLE TO MEDIOCRE. THE CHIEF PROBLEM IS THAT FRY'S HIRES PRIMARILY YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR LOW WAGES, AND WHILE MANY OF THEM MEAN WELL, THEY SOMETIMES LACK KNOWLEDGE OUTSIDE THEIR LIMITED AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY. ALSO, IT IS SOMETIMES HARD TO GET SERVICE WHEN THE STORE IS BUSY, WHICH IS MOST OF THE TIME ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS. THE REGULAR PRICES AT FRY'S ARE SOMEWHAT BELOW FULL RETAIL, BUT IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY, YOU SHOULD BUY ONLY ITEMS THAT ARE ON SALE, OR THAT OFFER SUBSTANTIAL REBATES. AS A GENERAL RULE, YOU CAN ALMOST ALWAYS FIND LOWER PRICES BY SHOPPING THE INTERNET. FRY'S HAS A VERY LIBERAL RETURN POLICY, HOWEVER (PROVIDED YOU HAVE YOUR RECEIPTS).
