Elements Hardwood Floors came highly rated on Angie’s List, and I would have to agree! Kevin and assistant are masters at refinishing floors! I didn’t know if the master bedroom floor could be saved But Kevin came in with his high tech equipment and made our three bedrooms floors look like they were new! Simply amazing! Remember when refinishing old floors made a huge mess? Well things have changed! There was no dust!

Kevin and his crew did a great job on my hardwood floors; it's like he brought them back to life and one would never be able to guess their true age from looking at them.  There were a few areas in particular that had been noticeably worn down that he was able to fix so that they are no longer identifiable.  Best of all, he used the Bona water based product so was no lingering heavy fumes to worry about, a huge plus for people with sinus issues like myself.

We bought a 1927 Craftsman and the white oak, top nail
floors had ambered quite a bit and were showing their age (not in a good way)
with some staining and scratches. After extensive research I decided to go with
Kevin / Element Hardwood Floors and I?m sure glad I did! Not only is Kevin
extremely knowledgeable about his craft, he?s a true artisan who has an
exceptional eye for detail and a keen aesthetic. This is one of the primary
reasons I wanted to work with him. During our house hunt we toured house upon
house with redone floors that I thought looked terrible. I mean sure they
looked shiny and new ? key word being shiny and new. I didn't want floors that
looked out of place with our charming vintage home, but I also wanted
everything to look clean and modern, fresh and crisp. I could tell by looking
at photos of the work he?d previously done that his approach was nuanced and
that he would not only understand what I was saying, but help guide me to the
right choice.
We started off with a quick chat on the phone and he?s
definitely everything you?d hope for in a contractor of any kind. Punctual,
polite, accommodating, responsive ? very easy to work with. We set up an
appointment and he came out to take a look and provide an estimate ? I was
quite pleased and thought his estimate was very reasonable for about 600 square
feet / large living room and two small bedrooms. Luckily I plan in advance so
it wasn?t difficult scheduling, but he seemed fairly booked up so I would
recommend trying to give him as much lead time as possible (even though I could
tell he would probably go above and beyond to try to fit someone in).
I explained to Kevin what I was looking for and he also
suggested that I send him some pictures since I was having trouble deciding to
go with natural or a stain. I wanted the beauty of the wood to show through and
to look warm and rich, but didn't?t want it to be too dark either. Kevin
suggested one coat of Swedish finish instead of a stain, which he explained
would give me the warmth I was looking for while still maintaining the natural
look I wanted. I was really worried they would look to light and bleached out
and was afraid it would look too dated / 80?s. Kevin was confident that I would
like what he was discussing, but also offered to try out different stains and
finishes for me so I could pick one that I felt comfortable with. He also had
the great idea of taking me to see a few floors that he had just finished at
houses where the owners or contractors were still working there and gave us the
okay to come by. Kevin spent an entire afternoon driving me around to look at
floors and show me the different things we had been discussing. It was really
nice of him to do this, especially since my project wasn?t a huge one. One of
the sites we visited had the floor done in a really similar style to what we previously
talked about and it was amazing. As soon as I saw the floors in person I knew
we were on the right track. Kevin?s instincts had been spot on and he just
really understood exactly what I had been looking for.
Kevin is a consummate professional and the logistics of the
project went perfectly, everything on time, on budget and our floors look
absolutely spectacular.
Kevin is the perfect mix of knowledgeable craftsman and artist.
His level of expertise in his field shows his true passion and commitment to
his work. This plus his good eye for design make him an ideal choice. Every
time I come home the floors are the first thing I notice and they absolutely
blow me away every single time! They truly elevate the look of the entire house
and they are just perfect. I absolutely recommend Kevin / Element Hardwood
Floors and hope I get to work with him again in the future!

In one word: fantastic! Kevin came out and took a look at the work to be done. I was concerned about the sealant because I have a 2 month old and a 2 year. I wanted something low VOC that would hold up to wear. (In the past, I have had a low VOC used on my floors that didn't hold up that well.) He recommended the Bona traffic and for the stairs he did something that had very little sheen and is not slippery at all! I love it. I never have to worry about anyone in my family slipping while wearing socks on the stairs. Kevin stained 6 different large areas so that I could pick the best color of stain for our wood. From start to finish, he made suggestions to make the project turn out better than I could have hoped. The finished product looks phenomenal. There was very little dust. There was just a light coating on the furniture. It seemed to be about the amount you would see if you hadn't dusted in a couple of months. If/when we decide to redo the floors in the upstairs portion of our house, I will definitely be using Kevin again.

Kevin Reyes and his crew had a daunting task in refinishing the existing floors in my old Queen Anne house.  
However, in spite of a vexing preexisting issue with the floors, Kevin never blinked and kept at it until both he and I were satisfied with the end result. 
The floors were ultimately finished with multiple coats of state-of-the-art Bona finishes from Germany and the results are simply breathtakingly beautiful.
I cannot recommend Kevin Reyes and Element Hardwood Floors highly enough.
They are unique and they deliver.

Everything went very well.  He stained a small area to show us how it would look.  He offered examples in photos and walkthroughs on previews jobs.  A few spots remained lighter than the rest of the floor but after mention, Elemental showed up and fixed them.  ALl the while he was friendly and straight up.  We recommended them to a friend immediately thereafter.

Great experience. This is my first review so read the paragraph above, it says it all.

Everything went smoothly. Kevin would call us to keep us up to date with what had been done that day. He was very knowledgeable and came back after the job was complete just to make sure we were still happy with the floors. Kevin was very fast coming out to give us a quote and getting us scheduled for a job. He is a pretty busy guy so we need up scheduling about a month in advance. He worked on our floors for a total of four or five days. We got our family room, and two bedrooms and a small hallway done. He was very thorough with this whole project. We will definitely use him for any other homes we buy.

We are so happy that we chose Kevin for our flooring. We turned our upstairs attic area (about 450 sqft) of our 1928 home into a master suite that includes a bedroom and sitting area. We did most of the work ourselves from beginning to end?except for framing, insulation and drywall. Having them do the floors was a top choice on the whole project.
Kevin was there to consult with us during the early planning phases and to give us guidance and estimates for the best flooring choices for the space that fit within our budget. He spent a TON of time with me over the phone consulting, sending photos, giving ballpark estimates for various options to help us narrow it down. He was very accommodating with the schedule and other contractors and the work we had to do ourselves. My husband and I are NOT general contractors, so he was super gracious in all the extra phone calls and hand holding we needed! No question was too small and he was very helpful in giving us all the options and pricing so we could make a confident choice. On a scale of 1-10 regarding knowledge and products, he's definitely a 10.
We ended up choosing 4" Rift & Quartered White Oak with a nice coffee brown colored stain and matte finish. There is a built in floor vent, which he recommended and it looks AWESOME! Everyone that has seen the upstairs always comments first on the beautiful floors and the near invisible floor vent we had to have in the middle of the hallway.
He was reliable every time regarding appointments and was always punctual. Kevin is SUPER passionate about what he does and it shows in the quality and pride in his work.
Kevin & Jason were extremely trustworthy in the house with our daughter and graciously put up with our very obnoxious Boxer dog. They were happy and hard working over the 2 weeks they were at the house. They always left the place cleaner than when they arrived and were extremely conscientious of any smells or dust left behind.
It was worth every penny we spent and I am so grateful we chose them!! We will absolutely use them for any future projects we have.
The best part too was that we came in under budget and a few hundred below his estimate. 
BOTTOM LINE: These guys are top notch and a great value for the quality of work and the level of professionalism. We couldn't be happier with our floors.

I was in a bit of a hurry because I wanted to refinish the floors before I moved into the house that I just purchased.  Kevin was able to put me in his schedule with about a 3 week lead time.  He and crew showed up to start the job exactly when they said they were going to. After they pulled up the carpeting,  the floor looked pretty beat to me but Kevin was confident that he could make it work.  They finished the job ahead of schedule.  The refinished  floor looks perfect - like new.  For a small extra cost they can custom make flush floor vents, which I recommend.  They cleaned up 100%. Highly recommend them.

Kevin went out of his way to change his schedule in order to accommodate my need to have the floors of an apartment cleaned and recoated prior to a new tenant moving in.  He arrived at the expected time and he and Jason went right to work and completed the job in the specified time. They did an excellent job and the floors look great.

Kevin & Jason worked very hard to complete the job on schedule & to minimize the dust created when sanding the wood.  We were amazed how little dust there was compared to the last time we had the floors refinished.
For the transition from the kitchen to the dining room they used a technique that weaves the old wood in with the new so that you're unable to tell the difference between them.  It looks fantastic!  They  installed wood floor air vents that are flush which looks really good.
We wanted a nice rich cherry color, without being too dark.  Kevin used a technique that really enhanced the cherry color & also brought out the grain of the wood beautifully.  It looks exquisite!
We had a minor issue with our cat leaving paw prints on the hallway before the final finish coat had dried.  The job had already been completed & we had paid Kevin, but he came back to a**** the problem & said he would correct it by refinishing the area.  We were very impressed with his professionalism & that he was prepared to go the extra mile to make sure the area looked flawless.

Kevin refinished the entire first floor of our 1917 Bungalow home. There were two kinds of wood involved, oak and fir which is typical for these era homes. His final product was jaw dropping! My floors look like new...the blemishes, scars and past sins committed on these floors are no where in evidence, instead I have a show room finish. The restoration has been  a series of carefully executed steps that Kevin and one helper carried out. The dust was minimal due to state of the art equipment Kevin uses. He replaced a few boards in such a seamless fashion that I can't see where the old or the new begin. He is cheerful, professional and an absolute gem of a craftsman. He even repaired a boo boo done by our moving a piano onto the new finish after he had finished. I would say that he sets the bar impossibly high for this industry. Thanks Kevin and crew!

Have been meaning to write a review on the amazing job Element Hardwood Floors did for us. We had our wood floors refinished, and I am obsessed with them now and how beautiful they look! I feel like we had new floors put in. They went above and beyond my expectations. Very professional and fun to work with. Got the job done so fast, and took lots of extra steps to make sure I was happy. Would totally recommend and use again.
I got 3 other bids from other higher rated floor guys on Angie's list, and I'm so happy I chose Element.

I was very impressed from the beginning when I called on a Sun to request return call to set up a bid for a project.  I expected to get an outgoing message, however Kevin answered--he was expecting a call from a customer re a complicated install.  I offered to hang up and then call back to leave a message.  Kevin said he'd like to talk w me to arrange the bid right away.
Kevin came promptly to see the project and listened very carefully to what my needs were.  He was very professional and efficient, giving me a bid on the spot--expected cost of the flooring and his labor.  As for scheduling the project, he mentioned he would be leaving for a week long trip that week, and suggested that I could select and pay for flooring myself from his supplier on his account.  That way the flooring could be delivered and allowed to "acclimate" while he was gone. We set a tentative date for the install. When his supplier said he needed a direct "approve" from Kevin for me to do this, I e-mailed Kevin, hoping he might see my e-mail and be able to respond, despite being away on family business.  I was prepared for a week delay in the project at this point...HOWEVER, within 2 hrs I received a phone call from Kevin, he contacted the supplier and I ordered the flooring that same day!  The flooring was delivered by the supplier.When Kevin returned to town, we scheduled the installation and stain selection. 
Kevin and his assistant arrived on time and worked very efficiently.  He very kindly painted test patches of several stains, so I could see "actual look".  The job was finished efficiently and totally on budget.  When I decided I would like a different type of baseboard than what was previously in the room, Kevin made suggestions and was quite happy to go purchase that very day and install the next day (final day of project)--again right-on his estimate.
Now for the best part as far as construction goes.... Kevin uses green methods and materials.  His sanding equipment is totally contained and did not distribute sawdust around the area.  Additionally, he has water soluble finishes available so I could stay in the house the whole time, AND I do not expect de-gassing to occur.  This is important since the rooms immediately below and adjacent to the office/guest space are used in my business, and I need to maintain a non-toxic/non-allergenic environment for my clients.
I already have a bid from Kevin for my next project and can recommend him without reservation. This was a very good experience.

We had difficulty finding a company who would do such a small job for us but that didn't seem to be a problem for Element Hardwoods. The owner Kevin was very friendly and knowledgeable and immediately put me at ease that the job would not just get done but that it would get done well. The transition piece from the tile to the hardwoods posed a unique challenge, but Kevin was very creative in coming up with an attractive solution. Kevin has an attention to detail that is unmatched with other companies I've dealt with. When we had the water damage in our hallway, we had two other companies out to give us quotes but Kevin was able to point out things that the others missed and explained things thoroughly yet in simple terms that made it easy to understand. The work was completed quickly and cleanly. I was amazed to find how little dust was left behind. I could not be happier with the completed job, it looks beautiful and you would never know that these trim pieces were added long after the floors were originally placed. Kevin has pride in his work and it shows through with the quality of his work.
We will eventually need to replace our hardwoods after doing some remodeling on our house and Element Hardwood Floors will be the only number we'll have to call.

It went great! These guys are really good. And the process they used was very convenient. Surprisingly there was almost no dust from the sanding. The odor was very minimal and I did not have to move out. The finish they used looks great. Forget about "Swedish" finishes. The price of the work was very reasonable.

Kevin did a great job. He was easy to work with from start to finish. He was reasonably priced and able to get to work quickly. He was very good about explaining everything throughout the process and added some nice details (frames) that we wouldn't have gotten from other flooring companies. The quality of his work is impressive. We'd hire him again in a heart beat.

It went really well overall. Poor Kevin gave me a bid and then kept following up only to have me tell him repeatedly that I wasn't ready yet. My husband HATES the disruption that comes this sort of thing so I wanted to do it while he was out of town and his business trips were short notice and short stays. Finally, I contacted Kevin with "Next week?" He actually worked overtime on other jobs in order to squeeze me in and start as early as possible. I'm currently between jobs and didn't really have anywhere to be except at home so I was there for all the noise. The ways out of the house were blocked periodically which was mildly inconvenient but couldn't be helped. They did a good job of letting me know when they expected to show up each day and when I could and could not walk on the floors. Kevin kept telling me the process was dustless. Compared to other work I've had done, it was. However, despite their equipment that vacuums while they sand and such, there was some dust so I'm glad I'd moved the tchotchkes out of the space. We did not tape up the kitchen cabinets, though, and that was fine - my dishes stayed dust-free. The water-based finish barely smelled and we were able to stay in the house the whole time. In any job, particularly one of this size, there are going to be imperfections in the finish. After everything dried, we went around and noted several (including one I caused) which Kevin then came back & cleaned up. They also didn't take up the painters tape and forgot to put back some trim so he came back again to do that also. The whole thing took longer than expected. They needed an extra day of work over the initial plan which wasn't that big of a deal but there was another day to come and clean up the imperfections and then we had to leave the furniture and rugs off longer than expected. I wish I'd had a little better understanding of how long it was going to take before we started. For your own future reference, when they say "we'll be out of here by Wednesday" note in your own mind that you'll likely want them back on Friday to clean up anything you found once you were able to walk around on Thursday and that you then can't put your furniture back until Saturday (if you do have them back on Friday) and you can't put your rugs back until Monday or Tuesday. You'll just be happier if you have your expectations set like that from the start. ;) Also, they need a 220 jack (like your dryer probably uses) for their tools. This coupled with the size and arrangement of my dryer meant my dryer was unplugged the whole time. I wish I'd thought to ask them to plug it back in when they took Sunday off so I could do my laundry that day - they would have done so happily but we just didn't think of it. Kevin & Jason were both a pleasure to work with, happily answered all my questions, and stowed everything neatly every day so as to be as little disruption when they weren't around as possible. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing work done on a hardwood floor.
