cMAC was chosen by us after interviewing (review of house plans, estimates, and seeing contractors' work) 6 other construction companies. In his interview, Chris Welch's professionalism and evident knowledge and building expertise were impressive and made our choice of contractors easy. His estimate was fair and he provided a well structured contract that outlined costs that he discussed with us in as much depth as we requested.
The flow of subcontractors was managed exceptionally well, even with some inclement weather.Issues that arose surrounding problems with our two remaining foundations walls were discussed with us along with potential ways to approach this and the project moved forward with minimal delay.
The framing of the house went extremely well and, when we wanted a change in the second floor to have more of the ceiling opened, a revision plan was reviewed with the subcontractor and the change was made efficiently. This is but one example of the give-and-take we were able to have in working with Chris.
Despite there being a superintendent assigned to our house project, Chris was personally involved throughout, and he met with us weekly, usually on site, to review the progress and to confirm next steps.
Once the building permit was secured, the demolition and subsequent construction of the house began in July 2010 and we received our occupancy certificate in May 2011. Prior to the end of our first year, we received a reminder about the one year warranty review. We had several issues we asked cMAC to look at and each was dealt with efficiently with a schedule developed for the subcontractors who needed to correct something to come to the house at our convenience.
We cannot stress enough how absolutely satisfied we were with cMAC's work. Chris and his office staff, Diane, were wonderful throughout. Initially, we were not going to have the basement finished, but as the project proceeded and we realized what a superb contractor we had, we added this to the project. For the contract initially developed, we were on budget; for things that we added, we received both fair estimates and great work.

It went well. They were very professional. We are very pleased with the final product and appreciate cMAC being willing to put us into their schedule after the flood.

From the initial design process, through the final touch-ups, Chris and his team were a pleasure to work with--personable, professional, and courteous, with a notable attention to detail. He patiently worked with us and the designer, listened well, and had excellent input for solving design problems that came up.

Moreover, Chris generously went the extra mile to help resolve a significant issue that came up with a tree company I'd hired to remove trees to make room for the addition--- this was totally outside the work he was hired to do, and very much appreciated.

Mike, the construction supervisor, is easy to work with, and very personable. The tradespeople CMAC brought in for the various phases of work were honest, skilled and professional. Diane, the administrative assistant, is organized, friendly, and puts together very helpful "schedule of values" spread sheets that keep everyone on the same page.

The construction came in on schedule, on budget, and with great communication throughout the process. I recommend Chris Welch/CMAC without reservation.

It is a fabulous job. We are very close to done. The addition is past final inspections and we just have some mirrors and the shower door and some composites left to be installed. Chris Welch is the contractor. I thought that the overall experience was great. The price was average. It wasn't a super bargain but I would say that it was decent for what we got. It was the most expensive we got by far. I honestly think that they were fantastic and I would recommend them so highly. I have talked to so many people who had bad experiences with contractors and Chris was so fantastic. He has got great attention to detail, and he thinks of things that we didn't think, and asks. He is very on budget. He gives you a number, and it might not be the lowest number you get, but it is the number you pay, and that, to me, is really important. If anything changes, such as if the number is not what he thought it was going to be or if we decide we want to change our minds on something, he is very clear and will tell us how that changes the cost, and that really makes it very easy to work with him.
