Jim Totten came out to do a free estimate for us about 6 weeks before our move. Of the 3 companies we interviewed Jim seemed by far to be the most knowledgeable and trustworthy AND he had the best prices and the most reasonable system for calculating charges. One company wanted to charge us by the pound for items going into storage, rather than volume as Star Moving does it. This worked out to be much for economical for us. He has been in the moving business for over 20 years and seemed to have a very good sense of how best to load up his truck on our difficult driveway in the best way to save us money. His bid was very competitive. On moving day 1 the crew chief introduced himself, was very professional, and handed us a comment card to fill out and mail in to rate his crew's work for that first day or work. All the crew members were friendly and helpful, and they even suggested a different order to do things that would save us a significant amount of money, which we really appreciated. The second day's crew included some of the same guys and they worked extremely hard and didn't complain when we asked them to move an additional item at the end that had been left out of the original bid. We just received the final bill for services and it came in quite a bit under the original estimate (we had pared down the amount of things going into storage).
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Star Moving and use them again. Of course when our things are moved back out of storage after our remodel we will be able to really tell if our items were handled without damage, but from everything we witnessed the crew seemed extremely conscientious and careful. Will submit a followup review when we they move things back in for us.

Crew was excellent. Careful, thorough, efficient, caring. They didn't break anything, drop anything, or run into corners or walls. They worked very well together and with us.

It took 9.5 hours to move. I was pleased by the condition of all items and the attitude of the movers. They assigned three guys to the job. My only complaint was that I left my husband at the old home, and he left a large plant and other odds and ends at the house. This meant a fast and cramped push of all extras into our cars. I thought that an experienced mover should have asked him about all the items left behind. This is really the only negative experience of the whole day. The floors/carpets were properly protected. The unloading occurred in a nice heavy downpour, but the guys kept moving. It finally cleared as they were finishing the home.
