Mike distinguished himself from other estimators by noticing all kinds of things -- small details -- others had missed. That tipped us off to his eye for detail. We selected him because of his thoroughness, his quote was the lowest, plus the fact he does the work himself ; he doesn't send out an anonymous crew. An easy decision. He showed up exactly as planned to start the job and finished on schedule. Becasue of an unexpected delay warpping up another job, he got behind schedule by a day but by working Friday night until almost 11:00 pm, got us back on schedule. And we couldn't be happier with the job. It looks great and he did an amazing job with the details, including fighting a very unfortunate banister on the stairs that another company wanted us to remove. We would not hesitate for a second to recommend Pro West Floors. Great price, high quality, terrific guy.

Very thorough, not a speck of dust left. Worked well with our requests. Patient with choosing exact stain and tried several. Flexible about using our existing baseboard and making it work. The best.

I called Mike at ProWest Hardwood for an estimate to replace some wood damaged by a leaking fridge (insurance covered the repair and refinish; we paid for the new wood install) based on Angie's List evaluations. He was able to give us an estimate the same day I called as he was in the area. Throughout the project he was very professional and is also very likeable and easy to work with. Mike thought of things I hadn't in terms of replacing the flooring, and recommended ways to dry out the floor in the house and under the house that the insurance company rep. said was exactly the right thing to do. He was also very patient with my indecisiveness on stain color and choosing new baseboards, offering his honest opinion and advice and spending time he didn't need to on helping us choose. He finished on time and I think the price was reasonable. We will likely hire him again if we decide to add hardwood to the dining room.

They were good, and they cleaned up after themselves when they were done. I would rate them highly and would use them in the future if necessary.

I contacted a few companies for bids (all were roughly the same $ amount), and feel like we made a great decision in choosing Mike. What set him apart was his design input and attention to detail. He went through several sample colors on the floor until we finally found the perfect one and also had a good idea/fix for a trim issue. Also impressive was that he helped out a bit with our cats. They are indoor/outdoor cats and he opened/shut the catdoor daily so they got a chance to get some food and not be overcome with the fumes. That's way above and beyond what I'd expect from any contractor. The floors turned out BEAUTIFULLY and we couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.

The house is old and had been badly remodeled years ago, so Mike encountered a number of "surprises" along the way and the job was more complicated than any of us anticipated. Mike had excellent ideas and solutions for everything, including design elements, tricky areas at the base of a metal rod stair bannister, how to get really stuck old brick flooring removed, baseboard solutions, sequencing of work with the painter, etc. Most of the time he communicated well with us (phone and email). He kept the work site clean and orderly, and was very flexible with our schedules and the other work going on at the house. The floors are really beautiful.
