A&L provided excellent service. They were referred to us by a contractor friend, but we received bids from 2 other companies, as well, and all were within $300 of each other. A&L was the lowest, but that wasn't our deciding factor in choosing them. They were prompt, and kept to their promised schedule. The completed work was beautiful. The existing floors were a unique color, yet A&L were able to match it and the floors look cohesive throughout our rambler now. They were very clean and the house was spotless when they were done.

Aand L did a great job. They were responsive and on time. They took great care in taping off and sealing the room. The floors look great and the price was excellent. Would recommend them to anyone looking for quality work

This was a great experience. We could tell we were in good hands with Adrian. He was very knowledgeable, listened closely to our requests and did high quality work.

The family room and study are on a concrete slab. One contractor would not bid to place hardwood flooring there, but would only install floating flooring. Adrian explained how he would install it and protect the flooring from moisture.

The hardwood used was red oak...to match the existing hardwood in the house. The old rails in the kitchen and on the stairs didn't match the existing hardwood flooring, so we replaced those at the same time. Adrian did all of the tread and rail work too (one contractor would bid for flooring but not stairs).

The bid did not include rails, ballusters and newel posts for the kitchen and stairs. I bought those directly and supplied them as parts since we were unsure what we wanted at the time his bid was placed. Before we ordered, we reviewed our choices with Adrian and he gave us some advice on small changes. That worked out very well.

Adrian's bid was detailed and complete. It included all other parts, supplies, labor and 3 coats of Swedish finish everywhere. It also included disposal of the old carpet and wood. The total cost was a little higher at the end of the job, but that was because of some additions we requested as the job progressed. For example, we asked for wood vents on the air registers in the flooring...someting we didn't consider until Adrian mentioned it as an option.

Our only job was to clear the rooms of furniture. The work was completed in the timeline promised and the did a good job minimizing dust througout the house.

There were some nice touches too, that we were very happy to see. For example,

  • Our house is a tri-level and the area under the stairs from the main floor down to the family room was open to the crawlspace (we have seen many lousy construction problems like this in our house, so, sadly, it wasn't a surprise to hear about this). Adrian closed this area off with a plywood board and didn't charge us for it.
  • The stairs and upstairs hallway creaked when you walked on it before. Adrian secured the flooring to the joists. That fixed the problem.
  • We have cats and they couldn't be in the house while the finish was applied. We kept them in the garage instead but one of them managed to get in...and left some paw marks on the floor. Adrian took this in stride and fixed it without additional charge.

I was referred to Adrian by another Angie's A List company that did not work in our area. Adrian was polite, prompt, and professional. Since the bid was good and he had been highly recommended I didn't feel a need to get a bid from any other company. The work was started on time and finished on time. The floors are beautiful. People keep commenting on the wonderful workmanship!
