carpet installation
 + -1 moreThis work was done as a subcontract to Great Floors. The total new carpet area involved 145 sq. yards and the reinstalled used carpet involved 32 sq. yards. The initial work to remove the installed carpet and reinstall good sections in the two smaller bedrooms took most of the first day. The new carpet installation and the wrapped stairs were completed on the second day. So the entire job was completed in just two days with only one person. I spent considerably more time removing and replacing the furniture from the rooms. Removing and refinishing the base trim in all the rooms and the hallway myself and then reinstalling it also required considerable amount of my time, but reduced the cost of the new carpet installation considerably.
Description of Work: New carpet was installed in most of the house (living, dining, long hallway and master bedroom), including new cushion material. Thirteen stairs were also wrapped with new carpet. Two additional bedrooms were recarpeted by using good sections of the original carpet from the living room and the master bedroom. All of the carpet was removed in the main floor of the house before laying the new carpet and relaying the moved carpet. The work required removal of the base molding strips, which were refinished and replaced by the owner. The work required 2 days.
