In the super cold weather, about 4 or 5 in morning, the heat pump starts and much ice has formed so the blades hit the ice and much clanging occurs and of course wakes me up. Valley rep looked at problem a couple of times but when they could not determine what caused the problem and could not fix it they refused to service the issue and told me to find another vendor.

As charming as a warm, fresh pile of cattle manure in the hot afternoon sun. We had a bid for a new HVAC system in our home done by this company. They did no home measurements or inspection of my current duct system, yet still offered a bid. The install was bad, with angry installers tapping their toes demanding payment before testing the system. Turns out it only provided heat to one floor of the house. Owner told us that wasn't their fault, they installed the furnace correctly. Really?

They're very responsive, they offers suggestions, they look at things and say this isn't the problem right now but you're gonna have a problem probably a year or two. They alert us to things that are happening with our furnaces and everything. They've always been right on time, when they said they were gonna be here, they were here.

Furnace was due for check-up, Valley Furnace company has been the company for my service needs for several years, so I called them and set up an appointment. Technician arrived on time and went right to work. Very professional and explained what had been looked at and how the system test was completed.

After helping me over the phone to get the sensor working, we discovered that it was doing it again and would continue to do so. Repair was scheduled quickly and executed as expected.

Very enjoyable experience. Starting with the initial evaluation of my home. Andy told me my options with no pressure. Quote included all the rebates up front so I wouldn't have to mess with any of the additional paperwork.
Matt did the install and checkout of the new system. He was professional and efficiant. It was an all day job removing my old system and redoing the ducting to fit the new system but it looks and works great.

I am beyond pleased with my decision to use the services of Valley Furnace, I have gone there in the past for filters and called a few times about concerns with my old set up. They were extremely helpful and thoughtful and professional and that was over the phone from a customer who was not even thinking of upgrading or changing. They arrived on schedule with drop cloths, and were so careful when they removed the old furnace and installed the new one. I really enjoyed watching this transformation and they didn't mind a bit when I asked about different pipes and how it all works. It's totally amazing, the quiet of my new furnace compared to the old one, and really it's a nice even warm clean heat now. I am thrilled with my purchase and with Valley Furnace. Andy the Owner made it crystal clear how the process would be, and it was exactly as promised, and only a few hours without heat. The furnace is American Standard, the one he said would work best for my set up. It was a big deal to change over from Oil to Gas, and it was done in two days, all of it.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I HAVE EVER SUBMITTED ANY FEEDBACK ON A JOB I HAD DONE. IN FACT, I JOINED ANGIE'S LIST JUST TO MAKE SURE IF ANYONE IS CONSIDERING A NEW FURNACE, OR REPLACEMENT, VALLEY FURNACE IS THE WAY TO GO..YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
THANKS FOR READING THIS...ANNE MARIE

Went exceptionally well, especially under the circumstances. First, this work was done remotely on a rental property 180 miles from my home. The house belonged to a relative who was on a cruise when the old furnace in the house gave it up. I had never worked with Andy or his team but my relative had used them to service the furnace in the home before. I put the work out for bid to two contractors selected from Angie's list and asked for a bid from Andy just because my relative had used them in the past (note, the C rating on Angie's list at the time would have normally taken them off my list). I can tell you I'm very happy I included Andy.

For all contractors, I requested quotes for multiple furnace replacement options including heat-pumps, forced air electric, and straight replacement of the existing oil furnace. After arranging access to the property, I received a call from Andy while he was on site. We talked about the pros and cons of installing new duct work to replace the hot water radiators. He took the time to explain options for running the duct work and how it would impact the livability of each room affected. In the course of 15 minutes of combining my knowledge of the house structure with his expertise, we identified several key issues that would create significant aesthetic problems no matter who did the work. (The other contractors just provided an estimate.) At this point, Andy had won the business. The only other quote that came close to addressing the level of detail Andy and I discussed (and provided a clause that said they would pick up the cost of any unidentified issues) was substantially higher than all the quotes. I've learned that contractors that pay attention to detail up front are far better to work with and Andy's only real competitor had priced himself out of the business.

Also in play was the need to replace a below ground oil tank with an above ground tank. Normally, that work is done by companies that specialize in decommissioning old tanks (a separate process requiring special permits, etc) and installing new ones. I had gotten a couple quotes for doing the tank work but as part of his bid, Andy also included a tank replacement bid from a company he had done a lot of business with that contained separate bids for installing a new tank and decommissioning the old tank. The tank installation quote was a little higher than my lowest quote but I valued the fact that the two companies knew how to work well together so I authorized Andy to begin the work on the furnace and new tank installation (the quote for the old tank decommissioning was too high so I used another contractor for that work).

Andy called me back soon after I authorized the work to let me know that he had filed for the permits but that the new tank contractor had taken a bid and wouldn't be able to start for two weeks. That was not viable in a rental scenario so Andy offered to take on the new tank installation. He explained that while he typically farmed that work out the company doing the decommissioning of the old tank, his company had experience installing tanks and he was quite comfortable taking on that role to hit my deadline. We had a short discussion on the details including installation of all new supply lines. He recommended I go with a UL listed tank which cost a little more but he would do the work for the same price the other contractor had quoted. We concluded the call agreeing to start the work on Tuesday (it was Fri).

Over the weekend, i gathered some friends and drove to the house to clear out the area where Andy's team would be working. During that time, I noticed the existing wiring conduit to the old furnace was damaged and would need to be replaced. I sent Andy an email explaining what I had found. He said he would have it taken care of and in the end, he didn't charge more for the work even though his quote clearly stated reuse of exiting plumping an wiring.

There were a number of additional details along the way like getting oil delivered to the new tank in time to test the the new furnace, etc. but all along the way, Andy was detailed, responsive and pro-active. His people coordinated with the renter and sat down with them and trained them how to use the new programmable thermostat, showed them where emergency shut-offs were, etc. A couple days after the installation, the renter discovered the furnace did not completely shut-off as expected when they followed the process they had been given and Andy's people were there the next day and promptly fixed the problem (they offered to come right out but there was no urgency so we respected their time as well). I later went to the home to inspect the final work and pick up the inspection approval and couldn't have been happier. The plumbing was well done, pipe insulation was installed with attention to detail (tape on every seam, etc.) and the area was perfectly clean.

The overall process went far better than my expectations given the challenge of managing events remotely. I would not hesitate to use Andy's team again or recommend them to family and friends. In fact, the experience was so good I've instructed the renter to call Andy directly if issues come up in the future. I feel I can trust Andy to do good work at a good value and don't feel the need to look over his shoulder to insure the work gets done right. In fact, I'm writing this half in shock at the realization that I've still never met Andy or his team face-to-face. In retrospect, it's clear to me that what ever happened in the past to cause Valley Furnace to be rated a C, they listened and are delivering a top notch experience to their customers today. Hope others can report having the same experience I had going forward.

Looked up this company and set up an appt. They could not do it same day, had to wait a couple days. When the person came out they were VERY NICE. They worked on the unit for a little while and then replaced something. A bit pricey- but now it is working!

THEY CAME OUT AND FIXED IT. THEY HAD TO ORDER A PART. THEY CAME A SECOND TIME, BUT WITH THE WRONG PART. THE THIRD TIME, THEY HAD THE RIGHT PART, BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CAME AGAIN, AND SAID THAT IT WAS WORKING FINE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT. IT STILL ISN'T FIXED AND THEY DOUBLE CHARGED US FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE. I WILL JUST WAIT FOR WINTER AND CALL SOMEONE ELSE.
