I was on the receiving end of some squirrel terrorism; a pair managed to get on my roof and tear out around fifty composite shingles. Worst still, the squirrels found their way to our roof-level deck. There they clawed through the waterproof deck caulking and rubber sealant leading to rain water in our home. Our trusted roofer recommended Sound Built Remodels for repairs to the deck. I was put in contact with Chris to both provide me with an estimate and get on his schedule ASAP. Chris, understanding the situation, was able to prioritize my problem in between his other jobs. His estimate seemed reasonable and was very transparent in its cost breakdown. I also asked Chris to keep a lookout for any prior damage that may have occurred during a previous leak and requested that he share with me anything he found. I made it clear that I was prepared to accept an additional estimate. Chrisâ repairs were impeccable! The replacement siding used was an exact match to the original. He had made three separate trips to apply three coats of sealant for the deckâ s walking surface. I also saw in his trash that some of the old insulation was damaged from that previous leak and that Chris replaced it without bring it to my attention nor charged me extra, even though I was prepared to compensate him for the materials that were not on the original estimate. I was extremely impressed with Chrisâ attention to details. I would certainly consider contacting Sound Built Remodels again if I ever needed a general contractor â and definitely if it involves waterproof decks!
