SDC Homes

My husband and I signed a purchase and sales agreement for an SDC pre-sale home in Renton in December 2009. Their real estate agent informed us it would be ready at the end of February or early March. We set a closing date for the end of February. Our Realtor was very diligent in trying to get updates, but they were slow to respond about the status of construction. Finally they told us that 10 homes needed to be purchased before construction could begin, which had not been disclosed previously. When no construction had even begun as of mid-March and our personal circumstances changed, we rescinded the agreement. SDC Homes refused to return our earnest money even though they broke the contract by not completing the home (let alone starting it!) within 30 days of the contract closing date. We went to small claims court and were awarded a judgment against SDC Homes for the earnest money and court fees. It was a very trying experience and took a court order to get our money back.
