Description of Work: They were a subcontractor through our contractor so I don't know the exact cost. They did some little extras without charge like adding a hose hydrant with a separate shutoff valve and a 'T' for future water line.

Everything turned out quite well. They are very responsive to questions and concerns that we had. We would recommend them.
Description of Work: They put in a drain field septic system. They had to do excavation work with that.

I contacted A-Bell Excavating via Angie's list and contacted them via phone for an appointment to scope and located the drain field at my residence. The appointment was set for 0730 Hrs. on May 5th,2013. low and behold Adam Burris from A-Bell Excavating showed up five minutes early and went straight to work. I had opened up access to the drain field as we are getting ready for a remodel (adding an addition) and the drain field has to be certified as a part of the overall process. While 'Adam' was working, I snooped and watched the camera monitor as it was fed down the drain field laterals. There are three laterals on our drain field and the pictures confirmed the worst; two broken, shattered, split, ruptured, fractured (what ever) pipes plus a totally missing feeder line. The damage to the laterals was apparently caused by parts of large trees coming down on the 'field' or the use of a large vehicles in the back yard. At any rate, the situation was cause for concern and it was obvious from what I saw that there was work to be done. It would take more than just one man to do the repairs, and the schedule was over full for ten days to two weeks. All I said was 'As Soon As You Can.' This occurred on a Thursday and I got a call from Greg Apple (one of the owners of A-Bell) and an appointment was set for Thursday, May 23, 2013. Again, A-Bell was on time, had the necessary parts and help, and the job was underway. Three and a half hours later the drain field was actually in one piece (for the first time in twenty-five years) As it turned out we had been functioning with a 30/35 foot drain field ever since we moved in, in 1988. The following day I was able to obtain a copy of the System Inspection Report: that report will make it a bit easier to move forward with the rest of the re-model permit process and that's thanks to A-Bell Excavating, the owners and their staff. All concerned were courteous, knowledgeable and hard working. I paid just under$1000.00 for all the work which was a whole lot better that what my neighbors paid last year. I will most definitely recommend A-Bell Excavating to anyone needing their services.
Description of Work: Located, scoped, 'jetted' and repaired drain field.

They were timely, efficient, and competent. They put in the system as designed and left the work area tidy. Most times septic systems are on the property not too far from the house, so consequently you are going to have a lot of torn up landscaping. While it's the property owners responsibility to get the grounds back to what they were, they did leave the work area very nice. The landscapers said that the state in which the construction company was definitely above average.
Description of Work: They installed a septic system at our home.

Greg from A-Bell excavating first supplied a bid that was very fair and during the site visit prior to bidding, was very professional and courteous. A-Bell’s bid was not the lowest but they installed our septic system; tanks, pump and drain field in a little over one day and considering the complexity of the design, that was outstanding. They did an exceptional job of clean up, when they were finished we had very little to do ourselves. We’ve been very pleased with A-Bell’s commitment to their customers. Greg has always been very helpful and patient with any questions or concerns we’ve had. I would recommend A-Bell to anyone needing excavation work, septic tanks installed or just pumped.
Description of Work: A-Bell installed our entire septic system. Our design required the installation of (1) 1,500 2 chamber tank and (1) 1,250 pump tank and installation of 360ft of linear gravel drain field. Our design required the drain field to run under our parking ramp in front of our garage and curve around behind the garage before reaching the actual drain field. A-Bell tight-lined the line under the parking ramp and all the way to the drain field edge even though we had not discussed the requirement in detail prior to starting the job and they were more than happy to discuss the technical details of what they were doing every step of the process. They excavated the tank locations along with the drain field trenching and when finished the only evidence of their work was a little dirt intermixed with our brand new gravel driveway.

Obtained A-Bell's contact info via word-of-mouth recommendation. Met with Greg Apple at our property to obtain an estimate. Greg answered all of our questions and walked us through everything that would be needed. Knowing that we were comparing bids he educated us about items (like sand for the back-fill) others leave out of their bids to come in at the lowest price. His bid gave us several choices of systems that would fit our needs and since we're installing garbage disposals we went with the additional third settling tank option. Greg also worked with our designer to solve a design issue as well. When it came time to install the system Greg and his crew were very accommodating of me "hanging out" to watch and photograph the process. Their installation was very clean. In my world, neatness and attention to detail count and although I had no prior experience with septic system installations I could tell that this installation was done as correct as could be expected. As a bonus I had the opportunity to watch my neighbor's installation of their brand new septic system by one of A-Bell's competitors and it was literally a night and day difference. While A-Bell's installation was neat and well designed, the neighbor's installation, while functional, looked sloppy and rushed. A-Bell back-filled with sand as well as the original soil but the neighbor's system did not only leave out the sand, the drain field lines were not installed level. Using water from my well A-Bell half filled each tank and then leak and pressure tested the drain field. I watched as they adjusted each drain field line's flow under pressure from the new septic pump to ensure an even dosing discharge over the entire drain field. The neighbor's installer did not perform this extra step. The final "as-built" inspections were done with zero problems and A-Bell returned to back-fill and level the system within a week after the health department approval. We feel we got an A+ installation and are quite happy with the job done. Overall a very good experience. Let's hope the rest of the house projects goes this well.
Description of Work: Installed a new septic system for a 4 bedroom new construction home on 2.5 acres in Gig Harbor, WA. This was a three tank system (third settling tank added for garbage disposal) with a pump and dosing timer. Bid included all labor, material, permit and tax.
