"When my client came to me for assistance with her remodel, she had done a lot of homework and had a very strong vision for what she wanted her home to look like. Our goal was to transform a spec home into a home that would make my client feel as if she were in Nantucket! There was a VERY long list of modifications needed in the home and as with any remodel, surprises lurk behind walls and beneath floors. My biggest challenge was to accomplish a GREAT deal of change with a relatively small budget for nearly an entire home - the client had impeccable taste and there were certain aspects of the remodel where a conscious decision to go over budget was made. What made this remodel a success was constant communication between myself and the client, as I also fulfilled a project management role to ensure the designs were completed per my clients expectations. Regular meetings and discussions addressing changes or budget helped to ensure there were no surprises when it came time to pay the bills. I had tremendous freedom to select the best skilled trades but I always made sure that my client felt comfortable with the people working in her home. The end result is not only something I'm very proud of, but the process is something I strive to replicate for all my clients so that they get the best possible result for the best possible value."
