Winter Construction

We hired the Winters for a bathroom remodel. We are very pleased overall. When we had the Winters out for an estimate, we scheduled for a Saturday, 3 weeks ahead of time. Based on experiences with other contractors, with that much time having passed, I felt the chance was high they'd have forgotten or be late. No! They were right on time, even at our hard to find rural property. So that was my first good impression. The estimate was good so we scheduled. The date for the work was quite a few months out, but the Winters were great about setting expectations. They didn't try to sugar coat that it might be sooner. They were realistic, and they were pretty spot on as far as when they were actually able to start the work. Tom did the work. You can tell he takes pride in his work, as if it is his own house. I was impressed that he used some of the shipping boxes to kind of "model" where the tub and vanity would be to get a good feel of how things would fit together. Unlike with contractors we've used before, I felt like we were "taken care of." Tom handled things that came up. When I expressed concerns, Tom said "It's going to be great!"...and it was, and always communicated well. There was an issue with the sink plumbing that we ordered, and Tom took the initiative to contact the manufacturer and get a replacement part. This was also during the start of the COVID19 time, and Tom diligently wore a mask while he was here. I would hire the Winters again in a heartbeat.

Tom is a professional contractor and maintained all levels of professionalism throughout the entire project. Toms attributes include doing a complete and thorough job. The project was completed on time and much above expectations and includes the "WOW" factor everytime we remember the bathroom started and how it ended. I have forwarded Tom's name to several of my friends and associates based on the amazing job that was done. I definitely want Tom to return in the future for other projects in our home.

After doing almost all of the demolition the price quoted didn't change, even though they had planned on doing the demolition. The wife was always calling him away from the job to go to drum up more business. We purchased most of the products being used and they installed the medicine cabinet upside down.

My husband and I are completely thrilled with our new deck.  Tom and Chessa Winter are a great team to work with on Trex deck installs. We first made contact with Winter Construction through their website on July 6th,  when we sent an inquiry for an estimate to replace our 10 year old Trex deck material with new Trex Select with screws as the fastener.  The existing frame and hand rail would stay the same and not require any changes.  Chessa Winter contacted us the same day by email regarding our request for an estimate.   On July 12th both Chessa and Tom came to our house to take a look at the deck and gather measurements to write a formal estimate.  The next morning we had an estimate for the screws, blade, drill bit, dump fee and labor through email.  We provided the Trex material.  Upon receiving the estimate Chessa gave us a few choices about when they could complete the work. We chose July 27th as a start date. Tom and his help arrived at 8AM as agreed.  They quickly got to work removing the screws from the old boards.  By Wednesday, July 29th they were finished installing the last new board.  We had one hiccup in the entire process and both Tom and Chessa were so helpful when we came up short on the Trex boards.  Tom was able to get more material locally and Chessa helped us get reimbursed through Trex. During the entire process everyone from Winter Construction was punctual, respectful, courteous and super neat.  Super neat meaning that everything was cleaned up at the end of each work day and old materials removed daily.  We are still enjoying our new deck as summer comes to close.  It is without hesitation that my husband and I recommend Winter Construction for a Trex deck install.

Superior response to our request including a trip from their Gig Harbor shop to our Queen Anne house.   They arranged for the windows to be shipped to their shop and painted.  They were ALWAYS on time and left the site clean at the end of the day.  Their workmanship is of very high quality.  I can say that when I have a need for more remodeling/new construction they would be the firm I will call.  Their professionalism reminds me of way caring family firms operate -- in aa responsive and professional manner.

Outstanding service and workmanship. We've had some issues with contractors in the past, but it was a total pleasure to work with Tom. He and his wife Chessa showed up on time to give us an estimate, and they were very pleasant to deal with. Once we told them our basic plan, they both had excellent suggestions to help make our remodel better. Tom was on scene for all the work, often with an assistant or two. The job was done in a timely fashion despite a few changes we threw their way, and the quality is really first rate. Tom matched the new siding with the old so that the extension blends in perfectly. He did the "knock-down" texture on the dry wall to match the rest of the house just right. Excellent tile work on the floor and the bathtub surround. Plumbing and electrical all work without a hitch. We couldn't be happier with this contractor and would highly recommend him to anyone.

We love it! We have used Winter Construction in the past and would use them again for future projects, small or large. Tom, Chessa, and team are honest, practical, thorough, meticulous. They do beautiful work and pride themselves in doing everything properly, from start to finish. They are also willing to give advice on projects we are considering but not committing to yet and this has helped us identify different possibilities. Great workers around young children as well…feel very very safe. Highly recommended!

Couldn't be happier with work of Tom Winter and his crew (Max and Casey).

They showed up early on agreed day and went right to work.  Cost was right on the money and in fact Tom was able to add to original plan and modify things on the fly with little and very reasonable additional cost.  He is very methodical, thorough, and painstaking in his work. He has restored my faith in finding a contractor who does the job he says he will do at a cost better than expected and completing his work before moving on to his next project.  Tom is busy and I would like to have him back for another job.  He is booked until mid winter already and so I will have to wait.  Tom is the best.

It went so well and they worked efficiently and quickly. It only took them a day and a half He fit us in between larger jobs, which was awesome since he was booked out pretty far. Tom and another contractor (Max), removed the old stairs and railing and blasted out an awkward sized cement step at the base of the stairs. They then custom cut the stringers to fit and dug holes for new posts for the railings. The posts and stringers were cemented/ screwed in place and left to cure overnight. They came back mid morning the next day and finished the stairs and railings, removed the old porch railing and replaced it as well. They used quality materials and the look is nice and substantial. They cleaned and swept up the area too. I will definitely be calling them again for future projects. Tom was responsive, considerate and reasonably priced. This is my first experience working with a contractor and I'm so pleased!

Tom Winter was as pleasant and professional as can be. He did the work quickly and was very clever in the way he lifted the deck back in place and braced it. We look forward to working with him again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his company.

We decided to do a major "facelift" to our master bath. We interviewed three companies. Although we were initially surprised at the cost, all three companies put in similar bids, so we realized that it was going to cost more than we had originally hoped. We actually liked all three contractors but decided on Winter Construction. They are a real family business. Tom and Chessa are very professional and, in addition to the physical work, they made some good suggestions on design.
Winter Construction did a very good job and we are pleased with the results. They did the tile work, fixture and toilet installation as well as managed the installation of the frameless shower door and quartz countertop (both subcontracted out to local companies). When they were falling behind schedule (not unusual for this kind of work), they worked long days to catch up. The total project came in below their estimate.
We had a couple of minor issues after the project was completed and each time Tom came out to resolve them with no problem. We would use Winter Construction again.

We couldn't be happier in both cases. Tom is thorough, thoughtful and thoroughly professional. In both projects, modifications and a few changes were done along the way, and Tom's "can-do" attitude was very helpful and reassuring. He and his crew were prompt, hard-working and completely accommodating to our needs. Very much a pleasure to work with. We're already planning with Tom to do a re-do of our bathroom this spring.

from Bid to punch-list and completion the project was seamless. This family operated business treats their customers as though they were family as well.

We contacted Winter Construction after calling several other contrators. They were quick to respond and set a date for the estimate within that week. We were happy to receive a very detailed estimate and at a reasonable price. They started promptly on the date we had set and showed up everyday that they were expected. Our work began in mid September, so they did have to work around the changing weather. But everything went very smoothly. They cleaned up after themselves (and there was a lot of debris with our entire old siding being removed) and paid good attention to the details. The job included tear down and haul away of old siding, new Hardi plank siding put up and painted whole exterior.

We would absolutely use Tom and the Winter Construction crew in the future. We will recommend them to anyone who is looking.

Tom Winter (Winter Construction), was recommended by a neighbor who has used him on several occasions. In addition, I personally spoke with three references provided by Tom, all of which were excellent.

The bid was quite competitive and near the low end of the range. Work was started on schedule and completed in 2.5 days on budget as planned. This time frame included materials acquisition. Quality was excellent with attention to detail that was much appreciated. Tom, was assisted by one other carpenter who was extremely competent. Both were courteous and professional. They came well prepared and left the site clean.

I strongly recommend this company and will use them again.
