Work was slow because of weather, they don't work in the rain, and only 2 workmen on the job. The initial price was 20,000 but with cost over runs soon ballooned to almost 30,000. I was told the back deck would be look like the brochure but when the workmen were just about finished he told me he didn't know how to run the decking with an outside border so they were run straight across. After 3 months the boards in the back are starting to warp and I will probably have to have it redone in a couple of years. Don't get me wrong the owner and workers were nice guys but the work in my opinion were not the quality I paid for just average.

They do good work and have very good response. They did a good job of prep in the bark area but they might of been a little short on the amount of bark used.
Description of Work: 40 yds of bark and repair drain ditch.

I did not consider him honest
Description of Work: took way too much time looking over yard and work to be done. I only have a small yard and live in a trailer park. Then spoke to me about how much work was involved. I knew he was wrong right away. I only wanted the weeds gone and gravel placed in yard instead. I felt he treated me like a real uneducated did not have a clue type of person. I listened politely but was wondering the whole time how could he think I did not know he was trying to rip me off so bad. The estimate was 4,200. I paid a different company 1,500. My yard is perfect now.

Response from Pro-West Landscape Company
I am almost at a loss of how to reply to these comments. I have been in the landscaping business for over 45 years, have taught landscape design and installation at the college level and have never heard these kinds of responses to me or my business. After dealing with many, many people over the years I have learned that each one has a different perspective or vision in their mind of what they are looking for and what that work will entail. Obviously, I did not clearly understand that the member was only interested in a quick cleanup as opposed to real landscape renovation. I have gone back to see the work after it was completed to her satisfaction. She is correct that her yard is not large, however to have the longest lasting result would have required quite a different scope of work. There was much work to be done in weeds, dead plant stubble and salal clumps removal. The member also wanted rose bushes and a lilac shrub removed. Many of these areas are in between existing structures such as carports, porches, sheds which would all need to be done by hand without any equipment access. I proposed approx. 96 ft of pressure treated 2"x4" lumber to be installed along left side of driveway to retain the approx. 18 to 20 tons of clean crushed granite rock from slipping down the adjacent slope. The member did not desire a weedmat installed or a herbicide spray to be applied under the rock placement which would substantially reduce the re-growth of weeds. In an effort to work with the member's budget I offered a bid reduction twice which apparently still did not satisfy her. Our Company stands by our work and we only do the quality of work we can be proud of. We have a substantial referral list of very happy customers that often ask us to come back and do more and more work to beautify their properties and increase their property values. We are very saddened to have someone think badly about us but do realize that sometimes people just cannot come to a meeting of the minds. We certainly wish the member the very best in the future and are glad she is satisfied with the work she had done. Thomas Allman-Owner

FANTASTIC.............As soon as we came up with a plan (it kept changing) Thomas had someone out to start almost the next day. They dug out all the brush and left a few really good cedar trees. We had the old patio torn up. We had a nice cedar fence put up (we got a dog) with 2 gates. Had a new patio poured and stamped and a retaining wall put in because of a dip in the yard of quite a few feet. Everything was done on time and looked great. We had a lawn put in, but it never really seemed to grow due to the heavy shade we have with all the trees. We later went on to "phase 2"....We needed a place for the dog to run and since the grass didn't grow well .So Thomas came up with the idea of kind of a sandbox with finely crushed turquoise rock framed by rocks. We did that and it worked great. This took up about 1/3 of the length of the yard. We also decided to put in a small stone wall to separate the top of the yard from the "dog park". We love that, too. Gustavo did all the rock work and he was very good at it and took a lot of pride in his work. Over the winter some of it became quite muddy where the grass didn't grow and we had to call Thomas back this spring for "phase 3". We extended the sandbox the whole length of the yard and we all love it. The dog can run and play and not get too dirty and it looks really pretty. When it rains it turns all light turquoise. I don't know if there is a 'phase 4" or not but if we need more done we will call Thomas without hesitation. Our yard has some pictures on his website for before and after.
Description of Work: We needed a yard out of nothing..We had a backyard that was all scrub brush and trees. You could not even walk into it. We had an old, ugly cement patio.Years worth of branches had been thrown into the "yard".. We had Thomas come out for an estimate after having another company come out and never followed through with an estimate or ideas. We had an actual yard put in including cedar fencing, a rock retaining wall and a new stamped concrete patio.
