Owner (goes by Bud), left a big mess that I had to clean up, dumped his garbage on the side of the building, and forgot to glue down the floor tiles. When I called him, he accused me of getting the tiles wet and threatened to charge me $150 to look at his mistake. He agreed to call and come back out, but never showed up or called. He left a receipt for the work on the back of a piece of scratch paper, left a business card with all old information.
I had a professional come out and correct his mistake (out of my own pocket).
The first 2 days of this project, Bud?s behavior was acceptable. On the third day, he acted anxious and in a hurry. He started sharing his personal problems, and became moody. Clearly he did not plan for the time this job would take and he was distracted by personal issues.
I trusted that this man was licensed and bonded, but my mistake. He is not licensed or bonded. I didn?t turn him in because I don?t want him coming back to do more damage. Lesson learned.I should not have trusted the referral, and should have called Labor and Industries myself.
