It took the tech 3 hours of head scratching while I looked up troubleshooting tips on the internet. He eventually called his boss, recharged the system in 15 minutes and charged me $500 for the time and parts.

Excavation and ground loops on the back 1/3 of a 102 by 110 foot loot were accomplished in a single day (in sand). Installation of a new electrical service took a single day. The new electrical service and electrical panel, ducting for a 1420 sq ft. house and furnace took approximately 3 days. Entire job complete in 1 weeks time. Workman ship appeared clean and reasonably neat.

We requested home inspection and estimate for the installation of a heat pump through Vaughn Mechanical?s web site. A sales representative contacted us with 48 hours and scheduled a home inspection. The sales representative was very professional and thorough with the inspection, which included analysis of heat calculations and comparisons to other heating options to determine the best solution for our home. The estimate was comparable to several others we had received and we decided to choose Vaughn Mechanical over the others because of the way they handled the inspection. From there it went downhill? Prior to installation, they tried to substitute the heat pump we contracted for with another brand unit that was not of the same quality; we declined and stated we wanted the brand unit specified on our contract. Installation day arrives and they installed the ?other? brand unit; when we contacted our sales representative, he was unaware of the switch and said he would call me right back. When he failed to call me back, I called him and left several messages. When he finally returned my call he stated it was a mistake and they would replace it with the unit specified in our contract; the brand unit contracted for was delivered and installed about 2 weeks later. The installation technicians did not have experience with all aspects of the installation and several technicians had to be called to adjust fan speeds and set the thermostat. The mechanical inspection failed three times due to improper installation of the condensate drain, incorrect or no taping of the flex ducting to the vents, air handler leaks, and poor installation of insulation to and around the air handler. The condensing valve on the unit failed twice, no fault of Vaughn Mechancial, and the unit was replaced twice. The second failure took 3 months to resolve and Vaughn Mechanical was less than responsive. We finalized installation 5 months later in April 2010. Shortly thereafter, we received an invoice for replacement installation; when I called Vaughn Mechanical to have the charges removed from our account, I found that most of the individuals that I had previously dealt with no longer worked for the company. I would not recommend Vaughn Mechanical for installation of HVAC systems.

They're still on hold; we haven't said yes or no yet. They did a good job with the estimate. Everything seemed fine with them.

It was the first time that I had called them and they did a good job. I signed up and they came and did the job for the price they had told me and did it very quickly. I will definitely hire them again, probably every year.
