Went bad. I'm a homeowner that is handy. I like to do my own repair which it perfectly legitimate in this state. I wanted someone to trouble shoot my heat pump compressor after what I had tried failed to repair it. It would have been worth it to have the bad component isolated so I could replace it. Called them and when I met them at the property, Kai, the owner and Cory showed up in a red truck. They brought no tools. I told them on the phone that the system was about 25 years old and I guess they figured they could just say it was not worth it to fix it, and sell me a new system. Kai talked the whole time the tech was looking at the system and he finally told me what he thought the problem was and that was it. Kai in the meantime was trying to work up a sale. She sent me a quote the next week. I think they were disappointed that their scheme didn't work. His ideas didn't work to fix the pump. I replaced the components. Didn't work. The next day I called and complained that when they came out to look at the pump, that they did no diagnostics. Finally he said he would come back out and bring his truck with the tools and give me an hour of work that I wouldn't have to pay for. Gee...thanks. They came and suggested a few other parts and I replaced those, but none of that has worked either. I thought I'd look at Angie's List for another outfit that could help and I read the review for One Hour Heating. Strangely it is the same knuckleheads led by Kai who is a scam artist. They go by the name of Community Heating out of Tumwater now. Boy, watch out for that group. I don't have any more time to waste on them. I just want to get some help fixing my heat pump.
Description of Work: Nothing worthwhile but cause me a headache. Very similar problem as the negative review above. Buyer beware!!!!

Disaster, disaster, disaster. Bait and switch by dishonest people. We were left with a disassembled, non-functioning furnace.
Description of Work: The One Hour Heating serviceman, Donovan, came out on Monday, July 2, 2012, around 10 a.m., supposedly to change our gas furnace's air filter and clean the ducts. (My wife had called the company because our daughter had gotten some kind of a coupon for them to do work.) Instead, he took apart the central heating unit, TURNED OFF THE GAS WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION, and told me there was a "cracked" heat exchanger. I looked at the heat exchanger and could neither see nor feel any cracks. He told us that another person, a saleswoman, Kye would come and look at it and "give us an estimate," etc. This Kye then arrived at 4:00 p.m., looked at the furnace, took a couple of pictures with her cellphone, and did NOT put the furnace back together - let alone turn it on (which we discovered only after she had left). She then tried to sell us a new furnace for about $6,000 - $8,000. We told her we would think about it, and she left. The next morning, Tuesday, July 3, 2012, we tried to turn the furnace on and discovered it was off. We called One Hour Heating and they said they could not turn it on because "the law" prevented them from doing so, and that they had told the gas company - Puget Sound Energy - that the heat exchanger was cracked. (This is a lie. It is not cracked.) Never mind that the furnace had been working fine until they came - or that they arrogate to themselves the right of turning a furnace off without permission from the owner. When we called them to put things back as they had been, they refused to come back and reassemble the furnace which they had taken apart - their excuse being, as mentioned, that "the law" forbade that. We had to call PSE and schedule a repairman to come out on Thursday, July 5, 2012 (July 4th being a holiday) to put the furnace back together and turn it on again. (As of this writing on July 4th, nothing has been done, and we are still without heating, even though it is cool in the evening.) Oh, and by the way: They never changed the air filter or cleaned the ducts, which was the original reason for their visit. In sum, One Hour Heating and A/C is a lying, cheating, ripoff organization. If you do not want a home heating disaster, have nothing to do with them!

Response from One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning
We performed a gas furnace preventative maintenance for his Member that was purchased by their daughter. We also successfully completed the same service for this member’s daughter at her residence and she was very happy. We do a very complete professional service and pride ourselves on putting safety first in all cases. Our technician found a cracked heat exchanger on the system while doing the safety inspection. Cracks like these are a safety issue as they allow the carbon monoxide into the air of the member’s home. Breathing this tainted air can cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Our company policy is to shut down (condemn) the system until it is repaired or replaced. We are very sorry that this member is facing an unplanned expense like this. No one likes major appliances going out. After reading the complaint they thought we were being untruthful. We did the best job we cold to explain the situation to them and offer a range of solutions from doing the repair all the way to replacement options. I even personally called the member but before I could even try to explain anything I was hung up on. In summary we contacted Puget Sound Energy (PSE) and reported the situation to them PSE did send out a technician to check the furnace and did verify the cracked heat exchanger. PSE disconnected the gas line from the furnace and capped it until it is repaired or replaced. One Hour’s Technician did a great job and I thank him for finding this crack and possibly saving our customer from future carbon monoxide issues. The desired resolution for the member is not possible but we will offer a 100% refund and sleep well at night knowing they are safe. Best Regards, Brian McMlaflin Owner

They did an excellent job. I believe One Hour is a franchise. My house isn't that new, and the breaker panel was old. I don't think I could have had the work done any cheaper. I didn't shop around, but I think the pricing was competitive. They were the people doing the work that gave me a quote, not just a sales person tying to sell me something. They put booties on, and cleaned up. They pride themselves in their neatness. Even the boss came out. One Hour came out the next day after I got the quote, and they completed the job in one day.
Description of Work: I used One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, and they installed a new heat pump, a new electrical panel, a new air conditioner, and a new furnace. They also removed all the old equipment. One Hour also did a 6 month service in May.

The sales person was very thorough. She bagan by measuring all the windows, inspecting the current heater, ductwork, and proposed installation location for the heat pump. Once the inspection was comets, she calculated the size unit we needed and very thoroughly explained all of our options to include efficiency, manufacturer, warranty, etc. Additionally, she explained about the company and made us feel comfortable with spending a large among of money. I gave them a "B" for price as they were not the least expensive but I believe you get what you pay for and I will gladly pay a bit more for the type of service that was provided. The installer and electrician were always on-time, curtious, professional, and completed the work on-time and better than expected. This a great company that I will do business with agaIn.
