David came over promptly and on time to bid on the bathroom job. Everything was discussed with me prior to work performed and explained on his contract. We did run into a few obsticales along the way with unforeseen and unexpected building issues, but David, with his experience, suggested other options to rectify the issues which worked out great and in the end, the bathroom turned out as planned. I have worked with other contractors who are there just to get the job done and move on, but it was clear to me David is methodical in his planning on any given task and freely gives his opinion on suggesting the best way of getting a task done so there is little chance for future issues. Finding a contractor to stand behind their work is difficult, but it was proven to me that David is one that is punctual, does the job right and guarantees his work. We look forward to using him again on future projects.

I described the situation of a toilet leak and explained what we were told happened. I texted him a photo and within 30 minutes he had replied with a rough estimate of what needed to be done, including thinking outside the box of what else could have been damaged by the toilet leaking to the floor below. (Which is more than the property manager ever mentioned). I would recommend him for his kindness and thoroughness in helping me out.

He was supposed to come back to finish, and he walked off the job, he installed the cabinet wrong; he aligned it up with the lower shelf instead of the ceiling so he had to fix that. After we discussed that the lower shelf was to be used for laundry supplies. He didn't listen as to why I took out the florescent light and added halogen for cabinet clearance for the ceiling install, I feel that was an over sight on his part. He was blaming it on the unevenness of the walls. He should have accounted for some unevenness. Now I have an unfinished job. Before the job was even started he emailed me and told me, he had lost my worksheet. I went with him even though he was more expensive because he came the same day, and was eager to do the job. I have to buy more wood & he also took a quart of paint & I have to order more filler. I also have a cabinet door loose, I do not know if they broke it. He installed one cabinet correctly & the other cabinet incorrectly & I will have to have someone else come out & repair it.

Beyond excellent. I have engaged David on numerous occasions since I moved to Plano, TX one year ago. He is meticulous in his work, adding his own ingenuity and creativity to something as mundane as installing an outdoor fan. David evaluated the soaker hose and sprinkler system and repaired all sprinkler heads and hoses where needed. David's first approach is to 'fix' something instead of trashing it and buying new. I am engaging David soon to repair and stain my fence. David's pricing is competitive with other companies in the area.

Excellent. Period. Mr. Sabet is a professional. He knows what he is doing and does it properly. He takes great pride in doing things correctly. He showed up on time, worked extremely hard, tried to save us money where possible, cleaned up after himself daily and left our home spotless when he completed the work. He did the little extras that he didnt have to do as well. We are planning to hire him to come rebuild a gate which was poorly constructed and is coming apart. I need it done right. I highly recommend him.

David was quick to respond when I needed this repair done quickly. Another provider that was contacted gave a quote for $250, but it would have been for just pulling and resetting the toilet. That wouldn't cover any troubleshooting or parts. David's prices are definitely reasonable. I have used him for other projects in the past, and I'll continue to call him in the future.

We contracted with David Sabet of New Era to caulk/paint our new patio door, both sides, and to replace/paint some siding. The quality of their workmanship is unacceptable. The exterior paint job was extremely messy, with the paint slopped onto the metal window trim and not cleaned up. David's resolution was to paint OVER the metal trim, which looks even worse. His response to our complaint about the paint streaks, poor coverage and clumps on our brand new door was to fix it ourselves! AFTER he finished painting, he claimed that the unsightly results were due to the oil-based paint that we had provided him and that we had exhausted our budget, therefore he would not be helping us fix his mess. New Era's contract provides a one-year workmanship guarantee and states: "If you ever find any problems related to the work done for you during the guarantee period listed above, we will gladly fix the problems free of charge!" Yet when we asked him to help us, he flatly refused. He claimed we were supposed to have provided him with latex paint, not oil-based, but this was NOT stipulated in his contract nor mentioned when we gave him the paint. We provided the same trim/door paint that had recently been used during other home improvements with excellent results (by another painter). In addition, we asked him prior to the scheduled work to bring wood putty to fill in the nail indentions on the door trim. He didn't do this and later said the putty would have required a day to dry so that step didn't fit into the schedule. We have many photos of the issues described here, plus written documentation of all communication on both sides. David's email response to our complaint contained a list of excuses about his poor paint job -- the heat of the sun, the type of paint, the need for an additional trip to get a different brush and paint thinner, etc. Yet he had been to our home, evaluated the door and its location, never requested a particular type of paint -- and perhaps most important, NEVER communicated any of these concerns before or even as he was working. Our full contract with New Era included one other job -- installation of kitchen cabinetry hardware, which was completed first. When our door delivery was delayed slightly by the manufacturer, we contacted David to see if it would be more convenient for him to do all the work at the same time rather than make separate trips, but he chose instead to schedule the jobs separately. We have the email where he made this choice himself, yet after the botched paint job he claimed that the "extra" trip was a factor in our budget being exhausted. Because New Era came to us as a referral and David installed the hardware to our satisfaction, we went ahead and paid him in full prior to the painting work. We are first-time homeowners and have certainly learned a lesson there, but it is a shame that he would take advantage of that. We now have a brand new door that is an embarrassment. New Era has ruined our investment. When David refused to correct his mistakes, we asked if he would at least sand the paint off the door for us. He refused. We then requested a partial refund so we could get someone else to help us fix it, but he continued to ignore us. We have been articulate, reasonable and professional in our communication, while David has been rude and sarcastic. Based on his response to a previous BBB complaint, we realize he may have blocked our email and might "diagnose" us as "mentally ill" (as he did with someone who previously complained about his work), but it would be very difficult for him to factually refute our photographic and written documentation (including the words that he himself wrote and emailed). We emailed him three times after he ended his work on the project and left him one telephone message, but he certainly cannot claim we have harassed him as he did with the previous BBB complainant. It will be interesting to see how he can twist these documented facts in his favor. NOTE: The above represents our original Better Business Bureau complaint regarding New Era. If you persist, you will be told you have OCD and that the guarantee does not apply to you because you are "picky." Despite extensive written and photographic documentation of his unacceptable work, the owner maintains that we should be pleased and says that anything we don't like is OUR fault, and we should rectify it ourselves. We would be happy to share all documentation with anyone who cares to review it. Let the buyer beware: If you care about the appearance of your home and do not appreciate being "diagnosed" with a mental disorder by a handyman, you might want to keep looking!

I called David the morning of Aug. 16. I explained that the coil on my garage door snapped and the door would not open. He said he would have a garage door handyman (Charles) call me as soon as possible. David then called back 20 minutes later to give me a status. Charles had 2 jobs before me but would be able to fix it that day. Charles called within an hour to let me know he would be over in an hour and a half. He arrived on time, fixed the door in approximately 45 minute. He also tuned the both garage doors. I was very happy to get my door fixed the same day it broke. Thank you David and Charles. I will definitely be using David as my handyman in the future.

David does outstanding work. The deck looks like new. I will continue to call David for all my home repairs.

I needed various handyman-type things done at our house and then also tile installed in a bathroom and the walls textured and painted. David, the owner of the company, came out and gave us a quote. It was comparable to other companies, but we chose him because of his professionalism and communication. The job was slated to take about 2 days to complete, but it ended up taking 5 days because of a couple of reasons. One was that we found other things we needed David to repair for us, but another reason was because one of his employees was just slow with the bathroom work. David apologized for the delay, removed the employee from the job, and finished the work himself. He was great with communication throughout the entire process (phone and email) and was always upfront about any issues he uncovered and additional costs we would incur when we asked for additional items to be done. The only reason I'm not giving an A is because the job took longer than we had hoped, but David remedied that problem and I don't think it would occur again. I will be using him for future needs.

New Era Repairs has a lovely website and you can even request a service estimate through the web. The technician (David Sabet) arrived on time to look over my case. I had 9 smoke detectors that were a decade old and were no longer reliable. He examined each one and offered a couple of options (a straight replacement of each or an upgrade to a 10-year lithium battery model). I chose the 10-year lithium models. Mr Sabet returned at his scheduled time and began methodically replacing every smoke detector, testing each new one thoroughly. In the end he met his estimate exactly. He was courteous and professional throughout the entire experience. Although I like to support local businesses, I've had experiences with other contractors who refused to take a check and wanted cash only. Mr Sabet was a refreshing exception! He was happy to take a check. For that reason alone I will be using New Era Repairs again in the future.

Because of a lack of time we were looking for help in the yard. David is a God sent. We like him personally and trust him completely to work in our yard without our input. He is fantastic.

David was on time, very punctual, very precise in retaining her did. Very had work and cleaned up well after repairs.

David Sabet came over at 7:00 PM on the day I called to assess the situation and that was very comforting and impressive. He fixed the problems very professionally. He was punctual and worked very allegiantly the whole time. I will have him come to fix some problems outside the house. He is trustworthy. Very personable.

Everything went well. This is truely a professional company!
