Doors (Interior) - Install or Replace, Window Glass - Install or Replace, Mirrors - Install or Replace,

About us

Window replacement is one of the most cost effective ways to save energy while also increasing the equity in your home. New windows and doors can completely change the look of your home both inside and out while adding the comfort you need during cold winters and hot summers. It’s also easier than you might think; most installations only take two to three days. Many styles and shapes of windows are available to fit the needs of your home. We can replace with vinyl, wood, fiberglass and even thermally improved aluminum. Sliding doors can be changed to swinging doors and vice-versa. If you’ve always wanted that French door in your bedroom where there’s a window, just ask! In many situations window sizes can be changed without structural modification.

They had great phone customer service and stayed in touch with us as the workmen were juggling their schedule and arrival time.

I brought the window by and was able to pick it up two days later. (It may have been done the day before, but my own schedule kept me from picking it up then.) We only asked that the new window pane be replaced, but they took extra care to make sure it was installed properly by repairing a little of the window frame itself.
We're currently in the process of refinishing our recently-purchased but very old home, and the window was, in all honesty, in rough shape. My favorite part about working with Capitol Glass is that they didn't try to sell us on new windows. They took our order without trying to convince us that we needed to replace everything. In my recent experience with this project house, that's rare. Everybody wants to convince you that you need to replace EVERYTHING and RIGHT AWAY. No pressure from Capitol Glass and we were thankful! :)  When we DO decide to replace the windows, we'll definitely seek a quote from them.

They were good. We had no problems. They were fair priced and they came when they said they would. We would probably give them another try.

My recommendation is to use another company.  The customer service, follow through, ownership of mistakes, etc. really lacked with this company.  Quick bid (May 21) but nothing else is quick about the company and multiple mistakes.  First installation had poor craftsmanship of glass on one arch and the other arch didn't fit into frame.  Second time out, poor craftsmanship again but second window fit (woohoo).  Third time they saw that it looked poor before coming out.  They switched their glass vendor (blaming them for all the delays.  I don't care, Capitol Glass took the bid and needs ensure quality and timeliness from their suppliers).  Final correct installation came at the end of August (three months of frustration).  My wife had to constantly call for updates.  No proactive communication from Capitol Glass.  Multiple promises for callbacks/updates never returned. Multiple installation dates pushed.  Shows to me they are not experts in glass replacements.
Response from CAPITOL GLASS
"We appreciate how you feel the glass industry should be ran but glass shops have no control over the quality of glass coming from the suppliers. This unfortunately has become a more common issue lately. If they make the glass with flaws or don't follow the pattern correctly we have no control over that. All glass companies in Washington state use the same suppliers, it's something all shops have to deal with and it's very frustrating. Trust me, we dislike it more than anyone as we lose money when we have to keep going out to the same job I apologize for your frustration."

Capitol Glass was absolutely terrible. I would never recommend them to anybody in the world. There was one defect in one of the windows. They produced this paperwork that said that it was industry standard and that it was acceptable. We paid for a brand new item; we would expect it to come with no defects. The price was reasonable. I would not use them again in the future.
Response from CAPITOL GLASS
"All glass companies purchase windows and insulated glass from manufacturers of those products. We use the highest quality suppliers. The glass installed wasn't defective at all, there are ALWAYS inclusions of minor debris inbetween the panes of glass. Defective glass is replaced immediately but again this was not defective. If every unit that had some sort of debris in it was to be replaced again the customer would never get their job complete. Everything we buy as consumers is not perfect, perfection doesn't exist. That said, we are picky about the quality but are held liable to a industry standard. If you cannot see it at a certain distance then it's acceptable. This is not our policy, it is a policy that we have to follow as do all other glass shops. We are surprised to see this review on us as this customer was handled very efficiently and all concerns addressed immediately. Also as said this is not Capitol Glass policy but rather the industry standard and every glass shop like ours has to honor it. Please contact your local glass shop and ask them what the industry standard for insulated glass replaced is. Thank you."

In all cases, Capitol Glass did a fine job, were quick, professional and did quality work with quality materials. Capitol Glass got my repeat business because of their performance on the previous jobs.

I thought that the product (mill-guard window) was good and it has worked out just fine. The installer was absolutely excellent. He was very experienced and knowledgeable which made the difference between an ok job and a first rate job. I think the following are very important questions to ask in order to ensure you are getting quality work:

    1. Is the installer is part of the company or contracted out?
    2. Is the installer was a part of the Carpenters Union?
    3. How long has the installer been with the company?
    4. What has been their experience prior to the current company.
