"We went above and beyond for [Member Name Removed]. These grades do not reflect our interactions with her."
"Randel Construction has no record of working for this customer, nor did we take any payment from them."
"Double Review? This review does not relect the customers words or interactions with us. Randel Construction went above and beyond for this customer."
The interesting part of this story comes after the job was finished, however: to do the tile the workers had to remove all appliances and put them in the living room. When some of the workers moved them back, they by accident put small scratches in our wood floor Alec was responsive, sending someone the next day to check out the damage. But his response was the best: he offered to redo our entire lower floor (since there was no true way to remove the scratches from the small area) for no cost. The end result was that he sent in an amazing wood professional who redid our floors and in the finish we wanted. Now we have beautiful tile AND wood floors. Mistakes happen all the time in home remodeling, and Randel Construction, instead of leaving us in the lurch, came through beautifully. So well, in fact, that we are using them for our current upstairs bathroom remodel. Would definitely recommend.
The sketch included a major design flaw, placing the commode directly in the entry of the master bath. In addition, the design was very custom and costly. I requested some revisions in order to bring the cost down and to move the commode out of the bathroom entry. Randel refused to make the revisions without an additional $500. I attempted to negotiate in good faith, the end result was an offer to add dimensions to the original design. $750 for a bathroom remodel with major design flaws is not acceptable. This is not a Contractor worthy of a high rating on Angie's List.
"[Members name] contacted Randel Construction about bidding a major bathroom remodel. We set up a meeting with our designer to discuss layout designs and begin the process of bidding the work for her. On Feb. 13, 2014 our designer met with [members name] and then spent a number of hours creating an AutoCad rendering and formulating an estimate for the remodel. On March 3, 2014 our designer again met with [members name] to present our design concept for the remodel and the estimate for the job. At this point Randel Construction was working with [members name] on a free estimate. [Members name] was delighted with the design concepts so much that she asked to buy them. The standard design fee for the scope of her job is $1000. [Members name] suggested the price of $750. This price was agreed upon and a contract was signed by her with the understanding that all $750 would be applied to the remodel should she choose Randel Construction to perform the work. Several weeks later [members name] contacted our designer requesting changes to the design. The designer, acting in a design only capacity at this point quoted her pricing for additional design work. [Members name] declined and did not contact us with any questions or concerns. Designs concepts & changes to those plans are always included with remodel and construction work."
We were referred to Randel construction by the Home Service folks that Lumber Liquidators deal with. Randel had only one comment in Angie's list at the time, but I figured that if Lumber Liquidators used them, they must be OK.
We loved working with Brian and he was in charge of our job. The team of workers that work for Randel Construction all have their expertise. He has floor refinishers, tile layers and general contractors. If I had any issues Brian was the go to guy and he made sure things were done. We did have some minor issues with a sub contractor, a painting company for painting, taping and texture that didn't know how to show up as scheduled. That too has been rectified now by Alec the owner. We had a few minor hiccups along the way but Brian was professional and always came through with all my concerns.
I would definitely recommend Randel Construction. They are a growing company. They now have a kitchen designer that we loved and that had great ideas for our kitchen. She definitely brings a lot to this company. We plan to have them come back in the near future to change out all our bedroom doors and closet doors to match the other half of our beautiful home. They did an outstanding job to make our remodel cohesive with the rest of our home. Remarks from our friends and family are nothing but positive.
Randel Construction provided quality products along with quality workmanship.
Thank you Brian, Alec, Mary and all of your wonderful workers. You are welcome back anytime.
