My experience with Taft Plumbing was awful. I am not one to leave reviews but I am writing this in hopes it will save another family some money, time and frustration. It has taken me 5 months to calm down. I feel we have been robbed by Anna Taft. Money was demanded, services were never received and to top it off our water system was worse after receiving their “service”. In short, I would NOT RECOMMEND Taft Plumbing for well water services. Here’s the full story. There’s a lot to it. But I think it’s worth the read. We are on a well in Naselle. Our water is full of iron and we also have slight water pressure issues. There are 3 filters in our pump house that we have to swap out every couple of weeks because of the iron build up. If they get too clogged it affects the pressure in the house. We had dealt with this for too long and wanted to finally solve all of these issues by having someone come out and replace everything/tune-up/repair it etc…no matter the cost. We called Taft’s office (Ocean Park, WA) and were told that since we live out in Naselle it would be $100 to even come look. We said please do. A nice man named Brandon came out and explained to us that it might be the pressure tank that is causing our trouble. We may have to refill it or buy a new one (as our current one may have a leak) to solve the problem. He filled it and installed a new pressure gauge. He also said if that wasn’t the issue it may be the starter pump control box. He couldn’t work on this portion though because it was an electrical job. He left and told us to keep them informed of the pressure and we could go from there. In the meantime we had great pressure for a day or two. Which I called and gave praise for. After that though, the pressure was way worse than it ever was. Sometimes we would turn on the faucet and there would be nothing. NONE. Not even a trickle. I called Jim in the office and gave him another report. I told him how it was great for a day or two but now we have nothing. After 3-4 days of our water not being reliable (sometimes it would work & sometimes it wouldn’t) and me calling to demand help…someone finally came back. We were not home when they visited. I happened to see the van in our area so I called the office again to ask what was going on. Jim told me our system was too robust for their capabilities but “Kinetico” would be calling us with service options (5 months, still no call). They also recommended Wadsworth Electric to inspect the control box. I called and left about 5 messages with a receptionist and never received a call back. In the meantime, after thinking this joke of a service was going to cost me $100…I checked the mail only to find a bill for $523.19! FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for making our system WORSE. I was furious. I was able to talk with Anna about solving this issue and she was only willing to refund $95.00. I’m not sure she understood that their “service” caused the disruption of our water flow to the house. I couldn’t have been more clear. It was awful. We felt like we were camping in our own home. So not only did we not have reliable, running water but we still had to pay $420.49. Next step call my Dad. He’s a busy contractor who lives 3 hours away. He diagnosed the issue over the phone, came down asap and fixed EVERYTHING in FOUR HOURS! Hallelujah I can shower! Starter Control Box - $80 80 Gallon Pressure Tank - $693 12 Gallon Pump - $665 Misc. Supplies - $117 Travel (6 hrs.) - $510 Labor (4 hrs.) - $380 Work From My Dad: PRICELESS (Taft could have made over 2k) She even told me over the phone that they don’t do work in Naselle… Uuuuuuuuh then why accept customers?! No thanks Taft. Never again.
Response from Taft Plumbing & Septic, Inc
"Taft Plumbing was asked to come out to a service in Naselle, WA for low pressure issues. We have a minimum trip charge of $95.00 for the Naselle area. The plumber was on the job for 2 1/2 hours including that 1 hour of travel. In that time he aired the pressure tank, which was water logged, added a pressure gauge and discussed the issues, such as the tank was losing air slowly, with the homeowners. The homeowners did not want to purchase a new pressure tank or any equipment we recommended. Taft received another call 3 or 4 days later that the customer was still having pressure issues. & was asked to come back out to address the issues again. We set up an additional service call as an asap Naselle call. The customer called back on that Friday and said the issue had gotten worse, so we upgraded the job to more emergent and went back out on the following Tuesday. In that trip the pump was still falling off in pressure and the system appeared to have electrical issues with the control [Member Information Removed] etc. We explained they needed to call an electrician and get back to us if the problems persisted after the electrical work was completed. Invoicing was sent out 1 week after work was completed. Customer called and was unhappy with the labor charges 1 week after billing. We refunded 1 hour of the labor to help ease the unhappiness. The end of the month customer came into the store and proceeded to yell & scream at the counter. Called numerous foul names and screamed obscenities for 20 minutes, until he was asked to leave. This customer has now made it a mission to go all over the internet and harass the business. Afetr the foul names screamed at the store. Taft has already given credit & does not feel anymore refund is due."

The plumbers that did the work were great. The office staff was not so great. Scheduling was never met and no phone calls were made to notify us of the status unless they were initiated by us. They were argumentative, rude, and made no effort to keep us apprised of the situation. The person answering the phone did his best to get answers but always had to check with “the boss” who was never available. The whole process, which ended up taking several days to complete, drug on for over 3 months. We simply couldn’t get them out to do the work.

"Hello, Sorry for such a delay in response. Didnt know we had angies list reviews still here. I am sorry you feel the staff was argumentative and rude. We do not want that to be the impression in our shop. This job being drawn out as far as status was in part waiting for neighbor information to dig and locate sewer lines. We had asked customer to contact neighbor and get us permission to enter their property many times. There were numerous trips out and meetings had to wrap this up and get your sewer line working. The delays were not entirely Taft's fault in this job. I am happy to hear the workers in the field were good and you are happy with them! Thank you"

I called at 7:25 am, he showed up at 7:55am, 5 minutes early!
He was very polite, professional and clean.
Did the the job in 10 minutes.
No problems.
I don't know what the going rate for plumbers is nowadays, and while $78.00 is a lot for 10 minutes work, it's worth it as he showed up right away, and I didn't have to come home from work and wait for him. It's also convienent to have a working toilet as one is getting ready in the morning.
Very happy with everything. I highly recommend them. They were polite and professional from the phone call on.

They are extremely reliable, they come when they say they are going to come, and stick to the quote that they give you. And one of the best things is, they listen to you! I will continue to use them in the future.
