When looking for a reliable construction company and hands-on residential contractor, look no further than MWR Company. Contact us at (206) 673-3440 in North Bend, WA, for more details.
MWR Company (Mark Rohrbach) is based in North Bend and works all over the Seattle area. He was willing to come up to the San Juan Islands to evaluate and bid on our natural disaster-inspired remodel. He is practical, fair, honest, and very good at what he does - which is primarily home construction and remodels. He has lived in the Northwest his entire life, so he also had the environmental sensitivity we wanted. His projects tend to be higher-end than ours as he is a serious craftsman, but he was willing to take us on because this project was very challenging. There is no store on the island. Everything needed to be thought through ahead of time; all equipment and materials needed to be brought up on the barge, etc. It costs twice as much to do things on an Island with no economic activity, so Mark was attentive to our budgetary restrictions and offered us cost-alternatives in his pricing. We thought his pricing was very fair. If you like working with someone who can tell you what the steps are, where he might run into issues, and what the consequence of those issues might be, Mark is great. He's been doing this for a long time, and he cares about doing it right. We trusted his recommendations without reservation, it was just so clear that he knew what he was talking about. Mark's been working with the same team for many years, and the quality of their work is excellent. They were even willing to let us lend a helping hand now and again, after some basic instruction. His crew camped on the property and stayed in our home while they were working on the Island (access is not easy and the alternative of taking a ferry from Anacortes every day is not a good one). They left everything in great shape. The project went smoothly, with no big hiccups. In large part this is because Mark set accurate expectations about difficulty and timing. We'd recommend him without any reservations. Mark is also a character. If you want to hear stories about Northwest skiers, contributions to community, being part of a cery large family (now scattered all over WA), Mark can keep you entertained for hours. In addition to appreciating his work and professionalism, we learned to like and admire him for his stories and generosity to friends and community.
Description of Work: MWR, Company rebuilt our living room and downstairs bathroom after they were torn off the house by the giant root ball of a tree that had fallen over in the winter. The walls were crooked, the floor no longer attached to the rest of the house, the piping was torn loose, etc. It was an unlivable disaster. Several contractors evaluated the project and declared it a tear down and rebuild. Mark said we could do either - straighten and put back together (riskier but less expensive) or tear down and start over (safe answer, but more expensive). His team had the skill and equipment to straighten and put back together this part of our house, so we made that decision and haven't been sorry.
