Alexander Bay Painting

I hired Ryan Wright and crew to paint the exterior of my 2200 sq ft house. After getting 3 bids from other Angie's List painters, I chose Alexander Bay Painting due to recommendations/ rating, local references, prompt communication style, availability and price. His crew spent a lot of time on preparing my house: power washing, scraping old paint and caulking. A fascia was rotted and Ryan worked the repair into his schedule immediately and replaced 14' of fascia perfectly at a fair price. The paint job is excellent (2 coats with high quality paint formulated for Pacific NW weather) and my house looks fantastic. The crew cleaned everything up and left me with extra paint for touch ups including the name/ formula in case I need it in the future. I have no doubt this paint job will protect my home for years to come. Ryan and crew were a pleasure to work with: excellent communication, problem solving, respectful, kind and fair. I plan to hire Alexander Bay for future painting and home-improvement projects.

Excellent. The crew was expeditious, but not rushed. Very polite and concerned with doing a good job. Everything was done as stated it would be (and a little better). The workmanship was top-notch. I would definitely hire again and recommend.

They called immediately, were punctual. They were clean and organized and paid attention to detail. They were able to give estimate immediately that was inclusive to all the projects and very professional and personable.

I've known the owner for a long time. They do great work. All of my personal work has been really good.

It went very well once it stopped raining when they were planning to come. Reuben had already come to pressure wash the house. When we had better weather, Ryan replaced our front door. They prepared the surface, caulked and started painting. The crew was fast, pleasant to deal with and capable. Ryan's supervision and help for us (like color choices) was excellent. We would recommend them easily.

Ryan and his crew were professional, punctual and competent. They completed the job in the time frame agreed upon, for the quote they gave, and left the area as clean as they found it. We would definitely use this team again.

I obtained bids from several painters to paint the exterior of my one-story, three-bedroom house. At $5,200, Alexander Bay was not the low bidder, but the price was competitive. Owner Ryan did a good job of matching the colors I needed, and the painter, Ruben, was thoroughly competent, and did an excellent job. The work was done well and on time. I am completely satisfied.

It went perfectly and I couldn't be happier. The owner and crew were very professional and courteous; they were punctual, efficient and very quick. After one day of pressure washing, it took only three days to paint the entire house and trim. I very much appreciate workers who do what they say will do and show up when they say they will show up! Excellent job!

A couple years ago we hired Ryan of Alexander Bay Painting Company to re-our siding and paint our house ( I think Ryan owns/runs the company). We chose to go with Hardyboard and overall it seems like he's did a good job, with a four moderate exceptions. One, he didn't communicate well about whether we wanted to use flat or textured Hardyboard and just put up the textured Hardyboard. My wife would have preferred the flat board. Second, we gave him the house key so could get in the house to use electrical outlets, which I did not mind. But he lost the key while working on the house and I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of having the key laying around some where near the house. Ryan agreed to install new locks at his expense but a couple of them were installed poorly and with more difficult functionality. Third, sometime after he finished the job the paint on the front two doors bubbled up. It was visible from the street and frankly it was embarrassing. He sent a paint rep out to look at it and said that since the paint underneath the coating that he had put on had failed that he wouldn't replace it. The issue in my mind is it failed after and probably because of putting on the new paint. As far as I can tell he should've stripped the doors or done something to prevent it. I couldn't convince him to do fix it it so recently I took the doors off, scraped the paint off and repainted it. It looks so-so now and it took about 22 hours and $100 in costs. Also one of the light fixtures outside fell off and I think it was because of poor reinstallation. Since he refused to fix the door I figured he wouldn't fix it the light so I didn't contact him. Therefore we had to order another light fixture for about $100 and put it back up. To be fair, the siding has held up fine as well as the paint job to the house (excluding the doors). In general he was courteous and kind if overly informal in not presenting a contract and leaving us to create one. The job cost about $20,000. It just seems like for the amount that we spent, getting the doors, the light fixture, and the locks right would've been good customer service. So if there are other contractors with solid work results I would give them a look first.

All went well. The painters worked very hard and were personable. Our house needed a considerable amount of preparation before painting and they worked diligently. Along the way, they would ask us for our input when they had questions. Ryan, responded to our initial request in a timely fashion, gave us a reasonable quote and put us on his schedule to meet our needs. He also gave us some advice on paint colors which we followed and were pleased. Based on our experience, we would highly recommend this company.

Best contractor I have worked with in a while. They did a great job and did everything I asked for (without asking twice). I didn't have to babysit them all. Quality job. Very Happy!

Great!! Our three story home had peeling paint and considerable surface mold (existing paint was over 12 years old) so it was obvious that surface prep was critical. This task and subsequent painting was completed with total attention to detail (including priming of bare wood) in spite of heights and very difficult to reach surfaces that needed work. This was no easy job but the results reflect the considerable time and professionalism provided by Ryan and crew. Many thanks for a tough job well done.

They did a great job considering the schedule was very tight. Ryan, the owner appeared to be a nice person and accommodating for customer's wish for most. I did ask some creative way to restore appearance of kitchen and bathroom without spending a whole lot of money. Ryan was the only one said he can do it. The others said they didn't want to do it I guess because they would not make good money out of it. The only thing I wish they would have done is using Shirwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paint as I requested. The paint on the trims/cabinets are a little bit chipping off after only 3 years. My previous painter did the same thing on my previous home. ( using Rodda Paint even though I requested those well known brands) So, it may be a common practice among the painters, but both times paint did not last as it should have. Ryan and his teams workmanship and skills are very good. I can tell since it looked great right after the job was done. Being said, if I ask them to do another job, I will insist to use different brand to see if it makes difference. I expect interior paint should last at least 7-8 years. On the whole, I am happy with their job.

Job went great and our house looks fabulous. Ryan did an excellent job within my budget and below competitor prices. We made a couple changes to how we wanted the house painted after Ryan had started and he was able to quickly adjust to our needs.

I would say they did a like a four star job. The paint job went reasonably well, that did a good job and the price was reasonable, the guy quickly in scheduling and so forth that weren't an issue, the pro that came basically was somewhat unprofessional they where basically I was not expecting that they would be, they looked to me like undocumented worker only one person that spoke English poorly, they had a radio going on very loudly in Spanish and a couple of time I had to request them to turn it down and I got a few complains from my neighbors they didn't do a very good job when it comes to protecting some of my plants when they were moving around they damage some of my plants. He first just needs to get a crew that is better trained basically his foreman was kind of a clearly somebody that had more experienced and may have been longer with the company.

He was really good to work with and his price was great. His painters are very thorough and detail-oriented.

Ryan was great.  He had excellent communication with us throughout the entire process.   I also appreciate the assistance in picking out our new color.  Our home was a very plain beige color.  We wanted a color that reflected new construction.  We narrowed it down, he gave us his professional take on the best shade to accomplish our goal.  Perfection, it makes me happy every time I drive up to our house now.  Our neighbors have also given compliments on the color.   The team did a great job.   I would use them again in the future.

Ryan and his team have done prior work for us. They did a professional exterior paint on our 3200 square foot house. I can't tell you how many times we've gotten compliments on the color but also the quality of the job.

When we need two interior rooms painted, I again turned to Alexander Bay Painting. They arrived promptly, were diligent in their work, did great work and cleaned up after themselves!

(2 coats of paint as well as ceiling to freshen up after 10 years of teenagers taking up residence in the bedrooms ;) For the amount of time and professionalism I felt the price was very fair.

 AND....they were very conscientious of my cat. Who was under their feet or watching the front door trying to escape.

This is the second time I have hired Alexander Bay Painters to paint the exterior of my house.  They did an great job both times.  The prep work, painting, and cleanup were all excellent.

Everyone was friendly, worked earnestly and did a good job. Just like they always do.
We've used Alexander Bay repeatedly on multiple projects, painting both interior and exterior, both at our personal residence and some homes we are having built.  We've also had them do various interior work.  We've never been disappointed in the work or the people Ryan has working for him.  Our experience spans more than six years.
Ryan makes sure you are satisfied at the end of the job but it is up to the homeowner/property owner to ask questions so you know what is going to happen.  Ryan is really friendly and easy to talk to but, he can't read your mind.

From first contact per e-mail, subsequent calls and e-mails thru this Spring and early Summer with Ryan regarding actual date of job to be done, I was very satisfied. I had my house painted in 1996, 3 years after I purchased it. The years between then (18) and up to 2 years ago, have been kind to that paint job. But it was definitely past it's prime in looks, color and some damaged wood areas. I am so glad I selected Alexander Bay Painting to do the work. I certainly would recommend Ryan and his crew without hesitation.
