Miscommunication or personnel problems were encountered throughout.  I disregarded them because of the firm’s stellar review on Angie’s List.

First, it took 3 weeks and a couple phone calls to kick loose an estimate.  The costs seemed reasonable for the scope of work, and the representative assured me the crew would be able to address structural issues encountered. 

Rather than wait for fair weather, tear off & torch down proceeded in wind & pouring rain.  Water ran through my bedroom ceiling, vehicles churned my lawn to mud, a delivery truck sank to its axles in my yard.

This is a recently purchased old & neglected house with significant settling, and anticipated rot or insect damage.  When pressed for information on the condition of the structure, the crew boss & his helpers (who showed up irregularly) would reveal only “it is what it is.”  What is it?

Pounding & equipment noise disrupted my neighborhood for over 3 weeks, culminating in a final deafening barrage of death metal music from the gutter guys.  When the rep called to ask if I was satisfied with the completed job, I hadn’t yet grasped the extent of rot left under the eaves, or the trimming & finish work remaining for me to complete.  The final bill: quoted estimate + 2 sheets of plywood.  I paid, grateful they were GONE AT LAST.

Bottom line: I don’t think Spane wanted this job (too small to justify traveling 30 miles), and preferred not to revise the estimate to include prudent replacement of unsound elements. In hindsight, perhaps I should have emphasized more forcefully my concern with structural integrity over cost estimate precision.

The project went well.  We had to modify the structure plan once construction began which was easily done.  We had a little difficulty with gettoing around the underground utilities, but again, they helped to accommodate this and the reat of the construction went well and we are very happy with the end result.  It is a quality building, that is well constructed and will add value to our property.

What can I say - the end product is awesome.  Highly recommend them!

We went to the home show in the spring and were very lucky to have met Jim Spane.  We have a 1200' shop that was built approximately in the '70s. The building is very sturdy, but the outside panels looked awful, faded - aged, not air tight. Jim scheduled our shop for measuring, quickly provided us a detailed quote.  Pricing was competitive to other companies we had looked at.  And within approximately 30 days, the entire project was done. Incredible. Our "new" shop is amazing - beautiful, great craftsmanship and now insulated with a new overhead garage door and a new man door.  It looks almost like a brand new building!  Darryl did an outstanding job working through all the many small details with us. Both workers were very respectful and answered and educated us through the process for any questions we had. After the job, everything was cleaned up and hauled away.  We are very pleased and highly recommend Spane Buildings!!!

The project went smoothly once it got started.  We had an issue with coming close to underground power to the house.  They did hand dig to make sure a post location was not going to interfere with the power line.  The actual dimensions had to be changed before beginning due to being too close to a property line.  I feel that the person who did the sight plan should have figured this out before construction began.  They had to reroute the tv/internet cable, mostly due to the relocation of the structure.  In its original location, I don't think this would have been a problem.  One water line that ran to the shop building was cut during the digging of the post holes.  I did not consider this to be their fault as trhe exact location of this line was unknown.  It was repaired and the digging was finished.  I am very pleased with the overall quality of the structure and once it was started it was completed in a timely manner.

The project went well from start to finish. They did what they said they would do when they said that they would do it. After finishing the sheathing, one of the QA people came out, looked at one wall, and made the crew pull about half of the sheathing off because it was very slightly bowed between studs (I hadn't noticed it, and I am a real perfectionist). The end result is just what I had wanted.

next time it rained it leaked as always. At that point I contacted several other roofing contractors with no luck. They ether did not return

My Phone calls or did not show up and of course the leaks starting getting much worse. So I went back to the phone book

I saw Spane building listed as doing roof repairs so I gave them a call.

Spane Buildings did a phenomenal job on my roof. Where other were unable to stop the leaks in my skylights they stepped up and got it right the first time. There had been a defect in the way the original roof was installed and Spane made the corrections flawlessly. I recommend Spane Buildings for any roofing need you might have. We had a new asphalt roof installed on our house by Spane Buildings. It was done in a timely manner and no mess left behind. The people were great to work with. I especially liked chatting with Bonnie in the office, she's very nice and funny. Would have my roof done by Spane Buildings again.

We've had two buildings built by Spane Buildings. I would not go anywhere else. Their buildings are sturdy and we are very happy with them. These people are very nice and fair to work with.
