D.C. Construction Group L.L.C.

D C Construction Group LLC initially presented themselves as seasoned home remodelers, which led to my decision to hire them for remodeling work in my home. They claimed expertise in drywall, tiling, flooring, and trim. However, they later admitted to having experience only in metal building construction. Their work is substandard and unsatisfactory. I originally hired D C Construction Group LLC on an hourly basis ($60/hr per person), but I noticed they spent most of their time on their phones and not working. I have spent $71,252.72 on D C Construction Group LLC, and the work does not justify the amount paid. The bathroom renovation project, which commenced on September 23rd, 2023, without the proper license from L&I. Despite this, I observed that a significant portion of their time was spent on their phones looking up how to tile, indicating a lack of experience in tiling techniques. This resulted in a prolonged and unsatisfactory project outcome. The final drywalling, shower tilework, floor tile grouting, and transition between the bathroom and hallway flooring were all substandard. Christian from D C Construction Group LLC admitted the work was substandard and agreed to fix the issues free of charge. The staircase to the loft was built with faulty and incomplete work. I observed Christian spend 8 hours working on a piece of trim for the staircase that doesn’t match the floor trim resulting in a huge gap. Christian from D C Construction Group agreed their work was unsatisfactory and they committed to fix the issues by removing and installing new trim free of charge. In the primary bedroom, the drywall work was so poor it appeared to be done by an amateur. They attempted to conceal their errors with caulking. Christian from D C Construction Group brought in their associate, "Manny," who spent over three weeks attempting to rectify their drywall work, describing it as the worst he had ever seen. There are still unresolved drywall issues in the primary bedroom that need to be addressed. D C construction Group also botched a sliding door replacement was also botched rendering the door useless. The primary bathroom drywall had to be entirely redone by their associate Manny, who had to scrape off all the texture, patch drywall holes that D C Construction group had attempted to cover with caulking, and then retexture. The tile job in the shower is inadequate and requires complete replacement. Christian from D C Construction group admitted to using too much mortar, which Dawson then attempted to scrape out (after it had dried) using an electric tool resulting in chipped tiles. Christian from D C Construction Group admitted the tile work was full of errors and unacceptable. He admitted that Dawson chipped all the tiles and the bathroom needed to be completely redone. On April 10th and 18th, via text messages, Christian from D C Construction apologized for the substandard work and committed to fixing all the errors including drywall fixes and retiling the bathroom free of charge. I decided to use the number of hours estimate to determine a flat fee for D C Construction Group to complete the following work: hang drywall and replace a door with a window in the spare room, hang drywall along the stairs leading to the basement, and install the basement door. I did this because Christian and Dawson of D C Construction Group spent most of their time goofing off, socializing, on their phones, as well a charging me for them to redo their botched work. D C Construction Group quoted me and agreed to 120 hours or less to complete the work mentioned above. This would equate to no more than $7,200. I voiced my concerns to Christian from D C Construction Group via text message on February 27th stating they were well above the agreed upon cap of 120 hours and that Dawson wasn’t being productive while here and was doing things that he shouldn’t have been working on. Christian’s text message on February 27th, 2024 stated that I should pay Dawson even though he did little to no work and that he himself would come and finish the work that was to be completed by Dawson during that week. I paid Dawson $3,086.28 for no work with the expectation that Christian would live up to his agreement of completing the outstanding work free of charge since he had exceeded the capped amount (verified in his text message sent on February 27th, 2024). Damage to my home includes the new sink in the powder bathroom, which was damaged when D C Construction used it to wash their hands and tools instead of the laundry sink. On Feb 27th, via text message, Christian from D C Construction Group admitted to the damage and committed to replacing the vanity top and sink free of charge. On April 18th, Christian from D C Construction Group thanked me for “giving them another chance” to finish the agreed upon work and to retile the bathroom with a due date of May 10th, 2024. The last time I heard from D C Construction Group was on April 20th, 2024 and they did not respond to my numerous attempts to contact them
