First, during the estimation/quoting process Switch Electric helped identify the best bathroom fans for my needs (Panasonic whisperquiet series fan/light combo - 110 CFM). On the day of the install, Bryce and Jesse arrived on-time and were professional, courteous, and efficient. The existing fan swap out was quick and they cleaned up afterwards which was nice. For the install of the new fan/ducting, there was a slight delay as they discovered that they needed a few specific parts. They minimized the delay, though, as Jesse went to get the parts while Bryce did all the prep work in advance. All-in-all the delay wasn't too bad and, again, they cleaned up once the job was done. Overall, the job completed in about 3 hours. Switch Electric did a great job. Very happy with the new fans!
Description of Work: Two bathroom fans installed: one in-place of existing fan and the other a brand new install/ducting. Cost included the new fans, labor, and permit.

It's hard to say enough good about our experience with Switch. This was a pleasure from the first communication through the time that we waved goodbye to Jeremy and Dan as they were leaving with the work completed. I had first emailed Tyler via Angie's about the job a couple weeks ago to inquire about the Angie's deal that I had seen for the work that I needed. Tyler asked for a couple of pictures of the panel and the service entrance. After he had seen them, he said it was a go. He was very quick and courteous in all his communication, both email and telephone. He scheduled the work even before I had made the purchase (we had some challenges with Angie's getting the charges through), so that I could get the work done as soon as possible. The office confirmed the appointment the day before the service call, and Jeremy was careful to call us the morning that the work was scheduled to let us know they were running a half-hour late. After a quick review of our situation they got right to work and worked very well as a team. They were both great at keeping us informed and answering any questions that we had. The panel upgrade presented a few challenges since this was an older (circa 1963) house with quirks. Jeremy and Dan worked confidently and efficiently and presented us with a truly first rate installation. Jeremy's panel wiring was neat to the point of almost being a work of art. Cleanup was complete-they vacuumed and made sure everything was neat as they finished up. And they followed up the next day with a thank-you note. There's no doubt about who I would call first for any further electrical work that I needed. I highly recommend Switch, Tyler, Jeremy, and Dan.

Everyone from Switch Electric was very professional and easy to work with. I had been trying to get an electrician booked all summer, and really wish this was the first company I'd called. The office did a wonderful job getting everything scheduled and I especially appreciated their great communication. Bryce and Brian did the installation and were great. They were very professional and polite, and even put up with my obnoxious dogs constantly barking at them. I would absolutely hire Switch Electric again and would recommend them to anyone needing electrical work.

Overall it was a great job and we're really happy to finally see our TV hanging from the fireplace. Other 3 companies had refused to do the work because the fireplace was covered in tiles and they didn't want to take on the risk. They also stayed extra hours helping me with different projects I had for them (I was charged by the hour for these extra things) and their attitude towards everyjob I threw at them was always spectacular! Their price isn't cheap (even with the 20% discount from Angie's), but I felt comfortably paying given the quality, punctuality and proffessionalism of their staff (from the setup of visits by their phone staff, to the quoting visit by their owner, and to the electricians doing the work). My only "complain" would be that in order to consider a job complete you'd imagine the drywall damage AND the repair would be included as part of it. I was told ahead of time that there had to be some drywall damage involved in order to pass the cables (obviously) and that they only do that plus the cabling itself, not the drywall repair afterwards. So I knew about it, but that still leaves me with the feeling of incompleteness and witht the work to have to find/pay a way to do the patching and actually finish the job. Like I said before, overall very satisfied... Great job! Keep the company so happy!

Two Switch electricians arrived at my home to replace a non functional bathroom fan. The existing bathroom fan sits in a rectangular space within the ceiling. The Switch electricians wanted to install a square fan where the older rectangular unit was installed. That would, in my opinion, leave an unsightly hole in the ceiling due to the mismatch of a square fan in a rectangular space. The two electricians did not seem to see this as a problem and reminded me they did not do drywall. One electrician attempted an internet search with his handheld to find a fan which would meet the dimensions of the existing fan space. This was taking a while. I asked if it would be all right to put the project on hold and they were agreeable to this. Switch Electric was willing to return to the house with a fan which would likely be a better fit for the bathroom. I appreciate this follow-up and their understanding that I was not happy with their square fan owing to its poor fit in the bathroom's rectangular fan housing.
Description of Work: Service for bathroom fan replacement was placed on hold due to a problem finding a suitable fan which would fit the existing fan housing within the bathroom ceiling.

From the beginning, Switch was the most knowledgeable and professional company that bid on the work. They also had competitive pricing. They were incredibly reliable and came exactly when they were supposed to. Brian and Brice did an excellent job in the over two weeks they worked on our house. The previous owner built the house with an alarmingly high number of switches, outlets, and light fixtures and they were able to rewire the whole house and replace every switch and outlet with only cutting 30 holes in the walls, and that included installing 2 new overhead lights where none existed previously. I was very impressed by this. When issues came up with unexpected extra work, they came up with creative solutions and were fair in the additional pricing. I would definitely hire them again and am very pleased that we selected them for this long, complicated job.

Install was great, the guys were short staffed so they were an hour late but the company called and let me know so it wasn't a big deal. The bath fan was a different model then the one posted in the Angie's list deal but the company was very responsive to my inquiries regarding the fan. I just mention it here in case you see the same results with your installation. Overall excellent work from what I observed. They were very quick and professional with the install and the new fan works and looks good.

I couldn't rave more about Switch Electric. They were fantastic to work with! From the first estimate we received from Tyler, I was excited about the company - they provided a very detailed explanation of the costs of the project, itemized in a way that no other company had done for us before. It really highlighted for us that this estimate is tailored to our home and our needs. We had a lot of work that had to be done in a tight schedule and they did everything they could to help us finish on time. For example, instead of finding a large chunk of time for a single crew further out in the summer, they were flexible with us and scheduled us with multiple crews so we could get started sooner. We had other work lined up right after them, so they went the extra mile to make sure we were done on time by sending us a crew during a weekend as well! Everyone we met (including Tyler, Jesse, Jeremy, Bryan, Bryce) with was really great. They were all very professional, knowledgeable, hard working, friendly, accommodating to our requests, and great communicating with us and each other. While I believe our situation working with 3 teams is unusual for them, I didn't feel that was an issue. If anything, it highlighted for me that how great they did at communicating with each other and continuing the work that was started by the previous team. Thank you guys so much for the great work!

Switch Electric was very professional from setting up the appointment to successful completion of the service. After setting up the appointment with Angie, I received an e-mail notification confirming the appointment. An additional e-mail was sent the day before which reminded me of the scheduled appointment. Twenty minutes before the scheduled appointment I received a phone call from Angie which indicated the electrician was going to be approximately 20 minutes late because of traffic. Tyler arrived within the allotted time and put buttes on his shoes prior to entering my house. He was very professional and responsive to all questions. He resolved all problems in a very timely and efficient manner. There is no question when either my wife or I need any electrical assistance in the future, we will call Switch Electric. We could not be any more pleased with a service provider. We recommend them without reservation. Thank you for being so responsive and professional.

Response from Switch Electric LLC
Dear Member, Thanks for taking the time to review us, we were out at your home almost three years ago so its hard to remember the circumstance but I do know that troubleshooting isn't always easy, and sometimes it takes longer than expected to get things right so that when we leave your home we know the problem is solved. It sounds like this was the main issue is you felt it took too long but I imagine that the reason why was because your problem was more complex than a simple fix. Thanks again and hope you consider using us in the future!

Tyler, who came out, was extremely helpful in clarification of what would be the best solution for the quirks of our attic space. He recommended a solution that actually didn't end up with us needing their services, helped us with locating the solar ventilation units, told us what accessory would be needed and that our best bet, to keep our new roof's warranty intact, would be to get the roofers to install the solar vents. That is what we are going to do, but Tyler's professionalism, helpfulness and going above and beyond for a job he isn't going to do won us over and guaranteed we were going to give this business a five thumbs up. We will be needing electrical upgrade work in the not too distance future and we will definitely call Switch Electric at that time.

My husband and I were very impressed with Tyler and his crew. They were very knowledgeable, friendly (professional) and responsive to all our needs and concerns. They accommodated a couple extra requests ? an extra switch and outlet, with ease and patience. They all wore booties when working inside the house and kept a neat and tidy work area, which was very important as we are both neatniks! Throughout the job, they answered all our questions completely. We?re confident that an excellent job was done and would definitely use Switch Electric again. We recommend them highly!

Tyler came out and did a thorough walk-through of our 1916 house, and provided a detailed quote of everything that needed to be done to bring it up to code. This included moving the electric service to the side of the house from the back and adding a new mast - which will make having a deck possible on the back of the house. Upgrading the panel from 100 amp to 200amp and properly grounding it. Replacing all the knob and tube and BX cable still in use in the majority of the house. Adding additional outlets in all the rooms, and outside on the front and back of the house. Adding ground fault outlets in the kitchen and bathroom. Replacing the electric stove outlet, washer and dryer outlets, and adding an electrical connection for a future dishwasher. Basically every wire in the home, whether accessible or hidden in plaster and lathe walls and ceilings, was replaced with new romex. Wired smoke and CO2 alarms were also installed to code. Aaron and Joel worked 10 days to finish the job, and were very friendly and answered any questions that came up. They also left the house very clean at the end of the day and at the end of the job. The Seattle City Light inspector could find nothing wrong with the job, and was complementary of the work. I recommend Switch Electric, and was very pleased that the initial quote was the price we ended up paying.

We knew we needed to have electric work done upon purchasing our house, but we were definitely not expecting to blow through 4+ lightbulbs per month, experience dimming and flickering throughout the house when we ran the dishwasher, or have burning bits of paper fall out of light fixtures in our kitchen. After receiving several quotes from other companies and meeting with a few electricians, my husband and I were in complete agreement that we would use Switch Electric as our provider. Tyler (with Switch) was very helpful and responsive when I would email him several followup questions per week to ask a variety of questions -- from the cost of additional work, to his professional opinion on how we should handle certain problems. The entire process of the inspection, receiving a quote, and scheduling a service date was very quick and painless. On the day of service, Tyler continuously checked in with my husband to keep him updated on the progress and let him know what they were finding now that they were really "in there". As it turns out, we had a few unnerving issues that we were unaware of -- a hot wire sitting in our attic that could catch fire at any moment and a spliced line outside that was bypassing the meter. They ended up having to come back a second time to complete all of the jobs we had outlined on our list in addition to the new findings. In spite of the unexpected added work and time, Tyler honored his estimate and did not charge us extra. I also came home from work to an insanely bright kitchen (yahoo!!!) and a beautifully installed chandelier with new dimmer switches. The absolute only thing I was not happy with was the gaping hole in our bedroom wall here our old circuit panel was removed to be replaced with the newer, bigger one. This was 100% unavoidable on their end, and my husband says this was all communicated to him prior to the appointment. I can't be too mad that I'm the one who wasn't listening. In the end, we are all safer and our chances of going up in flames are pretty low now!

One of the things I really liked about Switch Electric was that the bid was broken into sections, and each section included a nice plain English summary of what we'd discussed. So instead of just "Add Circuit x4", each circuit had a description of where it was going and the details. The bid also included taxes and permit fees, which is something I wish more vendors would do. Scheduling was pretty hassle free, with a lead time of a couple of weeks. The job itself went quickly. There were a couple of small miscommunications which were quickly remedied. The wiring in the actual breaker box itself is very neat and nicely done. New wiring was run through the walls, and is also neatly done. As noted in the bid, they do not do drywall repair. What they DO do, is use a hole saw to make nice identically sized round holes in the drywall, and leave the plugs behind to use in making the repair. There is one issue where all of the Insteon switches on a particular circuit are having flickering issues. However, the circuit in question is one that they did not explicitly touch aside from the breaker wiring. Instead of just brushing their hands of it and saying that it wasn't their fault, they spent a good long time troubleshooting the issue, even going so far as to offering to go to Best Buy and just buy replacement switches. (A later experiment showed that switches were fine on a different circuit) The way they listened to my complaint and acted on it was something else I wish more vendors would do. I'm sure there are people out there who take advantage of that attitude. But I like to believe that most of us are honest, and we know how our houses, cars, etc. normally behave and can tell when something is wrong, even if we don't know exactly what. I replaced all the switches and outlets in the house myself, and I saw some questionable things in the wiring. The old panel itself wasn't even grounded right, and there were some irregularities in the neutral wiring. I watched the troubleshooting they did, and I believe the issue lies in the house wiring somewhere. It appears to be some sort of noise on the neutral, and this circuit shares a neutral with the furnace (which they helped me to establish before they left). In the work that I did, I saw some fast and loose handling of the neutral line also. I'm not sure the original electrician understood the purpose of the neutral. My opinion now is that either it is a timing coincidence, the toggling of power off and on messed up something that was already weak, or it only worked before out of shear luck and the miswiring of the old panel. I am going to try to track down the issue myself, but I firmly believe that they went above and beyond in helping me eliminate causes and I will most likely hire them to help me sort out this problem (likely rewiring large chunks and possibly splitting into multiple circuits) if I'm unable to find the cause myself.

The work took a little over the approximate 2 weeks that was scheduled to complete. Beyond that, there were just 2 small items that needed to be done for the permit and they needed to come back to replace the 6 standard switches with the special order pushbutton ones I requested. Because they had to come back, they also replaced a light fixture that I had to have rewired at no extra cost. They were all very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I don't know how they did it, but they always made sure I had heat, stove, refrigerator, and most other electricity each night. The estimated number of holes in our lathe & plaster walls was right on which helped me to get an idea of that expense before the project started. Tyler was good about communication and reassurance when I had concerns. I really don't know how the cost of this would compare with other firms. I gave the "B" rating for price mostly because I would liked for it to be less $, of course.
Description of Work: Complete home rewire of our 100+ year old home with 10 foot ceilings, new 200A panel installed, 200A base upgrade, city permit fee, 8 new recepticles installed & wired, bathroom fan & ductwork installation, and 1 new light and switch installed. Extra expense for the 6 pushbutton switches I had special ordered and installed.
