When I brought this to the attention of the owner, she insisted my complaint was out of the ordinary, and sent another person over to complete the work that was left undone. But the person she sent over spent 20 minutes wiping six wall switches (seriously!) and spent her entire time at my home complaining that I was just too detail oriented, and the walls and windows that still have very obvious spots on them were, to her, perfectly clean. So I sent her home, as she obviously didn't understand what I meant when I said I needed a deep clean.
I didn't hear from the owner after I sent the second person home. When I contacted her again to have the work completed on my home, she was combative and VERY unprofessional, looping my real estate agent into our email exchanges.
After sending her all the photos I took of the mess that was left by the first person she sent over, she conceded that the work was NOT done, but still expected me to pay the full bill, which I refused. I explained that I still needed the work done, but she was of no help whatsoever. I paid $50 for the person's time at my home, and was left scrambling to find help so I could list my house in time. We actually had to delay our list date by a week because of Knock Knock Housekeeping, and barely found help in time to list on the delayed date.
While there were initially many quick responses, Deanna quickly became unresponsive when she realized she'd have to repair our floor (estimated cost around $1300).When asked what she needed for a possible insurance claim, she told me she was switching insurance companies and was uninsured.
She asked me to have one of her friends bid on the floor estimate for repair, so I let her friend see the floor. He claimed without taking a sample of the floor that he could repair it, despite me hearing from two other companies that the model was discontinued. He also provided no references and I could never get an answer on whether or not he was insured. I could also not get a formal estimate from him. So given that, I chose to use a different company.
Since the floor was discontinued, we chose a cheaper vinyl to replace it. (estimate for $600)
Since Deanna wanted to pay over time, I suggested to her that she pay the company directly which she reluctantly agreed to. The cleaning company also confirmed this with her but when the day came to pay, she refused, causing the floor company to ask me for the money, or they'd apply for a lien against our home.
This became a huge mess and Deanna was at the center of it. She was completely unprofessional and unresponsive at that point. I'd stay far away from her company.
"This was an eye opening experience of how quickly a client can take advantage of your willingness to pay for an accident. This client was renting the house and the owner took this opportunity to get a major floor update at our cost. I spent weeks tracking down the exact match to the floor which at the time was no longer being produced. I also found a contractor willing to do the work for a very reasonable fee. There was a property management company in the middle of this process that told me in an email that they were not taking any outside bids to fix the floor and essentially whatever they decided was it. So the decision was made to replace the entire floor of the kitchen AND surrounding dining room. They picked an extremely overpriced company to do the work and they completely changed the entire floor type and took 6 months to do the work. BUT HEY, if someone else is paying for it, might as well, right?! Since this happened I have been sure to keep a major business liability insurance company that won’t close its doors when the economy crashes. This sort of thing will NEVER happen again. Learning curve complete!"
